BANDERS UNITE ! Get to know each other chatter !

Hey CC, we started today so breakfast is done and no wobbles yet!
I started my period on halloween (typical ...always coincides with every family do and special day...curse you Aunt Flo!!!....so I expect I have anything between 4 lbs to half a stone of fluid weight at the moment. ) We took our measurements as well and this time next week we shall see how RC goes for us two :)

No name for the hairy hunk? It feels wrong leering when you dont even know his name! :giggle:

are you on the 1200 booster stage or are you doing the straight forward rc eating plan?

i must admit it has given me a sense of purpose. i went to bed last night saying the same thing to myself lol. i realise 1kcals of <5% food is not the same as 1kCals of >5% food!

if you need anything just sy and i'll see if i can get it. plrasr just ask
xx

Hello Candy. As you can see from my stats I've had my band for 16 months and I've lost 4st 9lbs. Yes it's slower than a if I'd had a bypass but it's coming off. My surgeon - Shaw Somers - doesn't advocate immediate fills and I waited about 8 weeks - yes 8 weeks. I had my band done privately but NHS and private patients with my surgeon are not treated any differently. This is a marathon not a sprint you really need to try and get your head around the process because it's hard enought when you do let alone when you don't. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but you have only just started out. If you think that you are a failure at this stage I'm not sure how you will cope further down the line when you have restriction and you feel and are sick and you get terrible pain when you eat too quickly or don't chew enough. I am worried that this too will be seen as failure when in fact it's a learing curve. I don't know how to reassure you more than the other posts have tried to but what you are experiencing is "normal" and par for the course. It's not an easy fix all (I thought it would be - wrong!!) but neither is a bypass. This forum is the best place to be and people are really helpful (except me) and they will help to make your journey a better one. There is oodles of experiece here. Take a very deep breath, tell yourself that you can do this the band is an aid to weight loss it won't do it for you and most of all be kind to yourself. Sorry for long post.

LOL!!! Mazza hun I wish I knew as well.... :)
I am on 1200 a day at the mo CC and Dean is doing 1200 -1400 this week. We shall see how we do!!! He will probably lose a tonne as he is a bloke and we know how jammy they are with this weight loss stuff!!!!

You might find Dean struggles Neen, my oh did and was advised to go straight onto his proper calorie allowance. I suppose it depends on the type of work he does and his activity levels though.

Good luck, as you know Im am fan of the calorie counting/low fat way of eating.

When I wanted to lose 2 stone after having my daughter I did that and more in 12 weeks! ;)

Thanks Mazza , I did tell Dean he could have just over 2000 a day and still be within his correct range but he is determined to try the quick kick start for at least a week. It's totally new territory for him so I am letting him see how he goes ...he's quite stubborn!
As for me ..did OK till lunch then threw up everything...it's more nerves than physical tightness though

omg :D them pics are making me dribble ......... anyone got a cloth ?? hehe :D:D:D:D:D

i just want to say sorry, and a big thankyou for all yr help & support and advice
ive phoned and spoken to dr nijjar tody and will be getting my fill on 18th november...until then he wants me to keep a food diary so he knows what im eating
ive been told it wontbe until around march tie until i get my second fill, so i hope and pray i get some restriction....
i know my band is only a tool and that i also have to work with the band too loose weight, but believe me i am really trying so hard.....i really am

You are doing fine and just as much as anyone could hun xxx I hope you didn't think I was being harsh earlier but I totally get your panic about it , I was the same and by the looks of it, most of us were at the same stage as you.

Maybe joining a weight watchers group etc might help you..or just keep checking in with us.
We'll help you with how many calories to have and what exercise etc to do daily if you want and keep you going.
Have a treat day once a week and just remember, this is the absolute beginning and it will be a bit wobbly til you start getting fills.
It is hard and we are all in the same boat , all been frustrated but we can all lose it.
Please don't be worried...I know you feel it but trust us when we say it's early days and things will improve xxxxx
Big hugs sweetie x

Hi ladies,

Candy- when I had my first fill I think the doctor put 6ml in (additional 2 as I had 4ml put in during surgery) and as I said before- that really didnt do much for me at all.The doctor also said it is rare to need to put that much in on a first fill, but the barium meal thingy was just flying through.

Your posts remind me of me in the early stages, and some people will need more fills than others, and a bigger amount of saline within the band for the restriction to be felt, as I said I have 9 in mine now.

I completely understand how your feeling- you wait so long for the surgery, and then you just want the weight to come off so badly- It will hun, that restriction just needs to be working for you first. In the meanwhile I think a food diary is a great plan, try not to comfort eat if your feeling down- or you'll head into that vicious eat-guilt-misery-eat-guilt-misery cycle that we all know to well.

I know im banging on about it, but perhaps try going for a walk if your stressed, maybe a swim, read a book, anything to keep away from the cupboards.Im sure this fill will get you on your way, but try and stick with it.

Wishing the 18th arrives quickly for you.xxxxxxx

Oh and loving the beefcake with the blue eyes ladies- frigging hell what a fittie! xxx

Good morning Everyone... hope you are ok today Neen... sending love and hugs to you all xxx

:bliss:
Boooggiiiiiieeee......the scales finally budged!!!

16stone 7lbs 2 days running..after being stuck at the same 16stone 8lbs for about 4 months...am so chuffed.

And the secret is I'm mainly going for low gi foods which feel 'right' for winter time....granola or eggs for brekkie, beetroot soup or cheese and crackers/oatcakes for lunch and protein, potatoes or wholemeal pasta and root veg for dinner. Any 'treats' are fruit or veg based ....and I kicked my newly accquired Chunky Kit Kat habit and replaced it with a beetroot obsession lol!
Thanks guys for your never ending advice and support I feel bloomin marvelous - and considering being a SAD sufferer I am usually misery personified at this time of year - that is miraculous!!
Keep on trucking guys xxx
