Good-oh! Mum just got a level access shower & stair lift approved but I had to fight tooth & nail for it. Now they say it will take about 6 months to go through even though she is deemed an emergency case!?! It is such a worry when parents are ill isn't it?

It certainly is a worry, they have a wet room, they have gone from their own home into a council bungalow, this June and have alittle agrden at the back which thye haven't had for 20 years, they are loving watching the birds everyday and squirrells n rabbits, it looks onto the side of the school where I work. My hubby made them a bird table and dad spends hours watching the birds coming and going he has finally stopped the squirrels fromn pinching his fat balls haha and nuts, it gives him a purpose, mam is 71 and dad is 70, mam is the healthier of the 2 xx

congratulations on your weight loss chrisa!!! That's a brilliant result. And glad you are feeling better also..
xx

That's fantastic. Mum & I have taken up a bit of bird watching. We don't get much in our garden but when we are at the house in France it is amazing. Mum bought me a pair of binoculars & a bird book for my birthday. We are looking at trying to put up a bird feeder in our garden but frightened it will get ransacked by squirrels, urban foxes etc. if your dad has any tips that would be great.

HE got a squirrell guard that goes around the fat balls and nuts the little blue tits can get in and out and sparrows n robin but squirrels haven't managed n now don't bother, yes they have a little bired book and see lots of rabbits on the school field its a suntrap in summer reaLLy nice n lady before them had it all gravelled so they have all their pots and ornaments from their old yard, they are happy. xx poor mam has had 3 ops in the last year, last nov she had a trapped nerve on base of her spine, she got over that and has suffered with a prolapse for some years which was sorted in june this year she had vaginal hysterectomy, then the skin cancer which her gp spotted on goin for a check post hysterectomy, so really been big year for her, they were only in thewir bungalow a fortnight when she had the histerectomy done so was a Godsend xx

OMG sounds like my poor Mum's bad year. I wish I could wave a magic wand & make them better but all we can do is be there for them. Mum lives with me so I care for her. Luckily I was able to retire early so my times my own & now having lost all this weight I can actually do so much for her. Dad lives opposite me so I can keep an eye on him. My brother & sister are close by which helps but they have kids so that keeps them busy. I have my chap & he is like a big kid but he lives separately to me so I can get away for a night or two to him when mum is stable. Just bought a squirrel guard seed feeder off Amazon as recommended. Thx.

I called into see ma n pa before school and she had her dressing off, the graft is oval shape 1" or just over at the longer parts bout 10n stitches round it from her tear duct onto her bridge of her nose, the graft they have took from her other eye lid which is a lovely maroon colour underneath. It is sore as you would expect but she looks better than I thought, called on on way home tonight and it has improved now its out in the air. Goes back to hospital Monday to have it checked by surgeon. xx

Fantastic news. Hope all goes well on Monday. Mum just got back from Homeopath who is looking after her now she can't have any chemo coz of the heart attack & suspected stroke. She has put her on a course of homeopathic medication. One of her clients has the same as mum & has been with her for 10 years & responded really well. Let's hope it helps. I'm sure at least it will get her back on to an even keel & boost her immune system.

I am so pleased that you n I still have our parents even though they have worryn health concerns, will be a verysad time when anything happens to either of them. xx

Oh don't - I know we were so upset when mum was diagnosed with the lung cancer we though she wouldn't see Christmas but she has rallied. I am so close to Mum I will be lost without her. Luckily Dad is still fit at 76 even though he has had 2 cornea transplants. Gave him a new lease of life now he can see clearly. He still thinks he is a teenager. He recently went nightclubbing with the youngsters at his work in Manchester LOL
