Considering gastric band but scared

Aww I'm glad your doing well! I swear once your 3 weeks post op you will notice such a huge change in your health it's so worth doing x x

I was terrified of being put under at my size, scared of being cut open risk of infection and complications, plus recovery time. Hence why I opted for gastric balloon, I weighed up pros and cons and although its only temporary I'm chuffed to bits with results do far within a month :) x

That's great. Keep up the good work

Just filled in my registration for the ulster and reading thru pre op stuff (I start on monday) so its all becoming v real :) im actually looking fwd to not having hangovers! What time have u to be at ulster for? Im 1130 but no idea what time op is at x

I've to be in UIC for 10.30. Reading up on what I will need for post op diet etc.. Also met my GP on Monday to discuss op again and to sort my regular meds out for after surgery. I'm not sure if I need any other meds post op other than Vitamin & mineral supplements. What you think?

From the sounds of it we may need some laxatives too lol but no I dont think so. Is ur gp supportive? Im meeting mine monday morn...are they giving you liquid meds for after?

Yeah my GP is supportive. However he's not prescribing my meds in liquid-too expensive!!! I have to crush them or don't take some of them for first couple of weeks. What pain meds are u planning on taking

You may not need liquid meds ... A lot of banders have no problems swallowing their meds in tablet form :)

Ohhh ladies I am getting cold feet is this normal? Im looking at all diff types of food thinking im gonna miss it so much. But I know I need to change that attitude towards it! Ive also got a chest infection and vomiting bug so the thought of starting the pre op on monday is not something I really wanna think about. Did yous feel like this?

It is natural, but I can honestly say that with the exception of bread I can still eat every food I did before. Even with bread I think I could probably eat toast as I ate crostini over Christmas, I'm just not a big enough bread lover to be bothered with the attempt.
There are threads on here that talk about everyone's "last meal" and what they ate, but most people then acknowledge it as pointless, as once they're done with liquids and mush and are back on solids they can eat smaller quantities of the same food, even if they choose not to.

It is normal don't worry! Like Sarah I can pretty much eat everything I ate before other than bread! X x
