Any questions this site has a wealth of knowledge and help

I completely echo what Sarah said, for me personally best decision I ever made and if u need any more proof you can eat relatively normal I often post in my diary about the food I've eaten and things! Moderation is key in the wls game x

I couldn't get NHS funding, but it's well worth giving it a go - even if the answer is no, you've not lost anything.

I know there is a significant cost difference having a band fitted abroad. I would be a bit concerned about whether I could see someone in an emergency - just before Christmas I had an episode of over-restriction. When I couldn't keep clear liquids down I phoned my provider and was having a de-fill within a couple of hours. It's worth asking about what would happen in an emergency, whether they have any arrangements with UK providers for emergency aftercare. The aftercare is really vital!

My BMI is 33.4 so unable to have a bypass and wouldn't be able to get funding (thanks Maphillips for the link) it's a bit of a postcode lottery. Lots of private uk practices won't even do a band for a BMI of less than 35. I'm not at all interested in the balloon, after reading research it doesn't seen that successful and I've tried to read unbiased reports and also looking at people's real life experiences. However I work for the NHS and there is a private hospital next door and they give a 10% discount to NHS staff so gonna find out more soon. Has anyone had the plication done? That's seems an option

Having a bit of an emotional breakdown tonight on the eve of paying for my surgery and starting pre op... im not 100% sure im ready for it..ive had a very hard year with depression and just getting myself together now.. so confused about what to do now. Im afraid of looking like a failure to my parents who are all for it silly I know x

Sorrymisjackson you may recall I had a similar episode back in November and had to delay final decision until I was ready but once I had made my decision it was like a weight being lifted off my shoulders. Now I can't wait til Wednesday

There's only you can tell if your 100% ready Hun it's a big change so the feeling of worry etc is completely normal it's a big thing to take on but so long as your willing to work with the tool and follow the rules you'll be fine x

No problem Nicola hijack away. I think it's great that we can all share how we are feeling or ask question from other who have been through wls or about to go through it, like us. This is a great way to communicate
