Countdown to Balloon Launch

Cb4: thanks for the info. Was it very bad what you remember? Did it hurt pr did they num you?
I think its kind of like an endoscopy and that I think is horrible!
I need to loose 35kg!!! Dont know how!!
Do you think its possible?
When I started to gain wieght 10 years ago, I didnt think I would end up this fat!! But now when meeting friends, Im the "fat" one ( if someone I dont know wants later to remember me). Im sick and tired of that.
I want to show everyone that I can be in small again when I am getting 40 next February.
I hope that is possible.
How much do you want to loose? Are you close to your goal?

As long as you stick to the diet given and your head is in the right place then it is most certainly is doable Mary. Since January '12 i have lost nearly 31kg/68lb. The vast majority of that has been since September '12 (8kg/18lb since Balloon Inserted 6 weeks ago) x

They numb your throat horrible tasting spray then sedate you. Then scope you to check all ok. Then you have to try and swallow the balloon. I was not able so the pushed it in. My throat was incredibly sore where it was grazed for about a week. They then inflate the balloon and disconnect.

It's not pleasant.

Girls what kind of diet am I being put on after the insertion? Is it liquids only?

It depends on your provider. I have a spatz from nosc. The girls have 6 month balloons from different providers. Nosc diet is initially liquids, then soft food and then tiny portions of a strict diet for six weeks but I still do it. The diet is tiny portions, no starchy carbs no bread, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes. No veg from underground so no carrots etc. No oil in cooking, only grill or steam or boil. Protein if possible as part of every meal. Fruit limited to Apple's pears berries. Skimmed milk only, 2 litres water. That kind of thing. I now have wholesale bread on occasion, brown rice and a little low fat cheese. But mainly I still stick to it. Three main meals two snacks no eating after seven.

Edited to say, recommended no spice.

It was well worth it! Got a troth spray and sedation. Do remember most of it, I was gagging while the blue liquid was going into the balloon. But it was worth it! Had a sore troth for a while after.
I was told with my 6 month balloon that I'd loose 2-3 stone. No more. If I wanted to loose more I'd have to have a band! But my balloon is in and has no refills like the Spatz.
I lost a stone before the balloon and I'm 1st 4 down since getting it. I hope to loose another 1stone 10lb with the balloon.
I only had liquids for the first week and yogurts or jelly! For the whole week.
It wasn't to tough because I had starved myself for the four weeks before to loose that stone, as well as a lot of exercise!

carol b :)

My provider recommended fluids / soups/yogurts/ jelly for a few days to get over the nausea but to eat normally after that.

Hi girls

I have been advised that gastric wrap ( plication) might be a better option!
So instead of the balloon insertion, the stomack is being folded twice and stiched to the shape of sleeve! And it is also reversible but you can keep it in if you want.
What do you think about this?

Best of luck with that. Can't advise as it wasn't something I was prepared to consider as it was too invasive for me.

Good luck whatever you decide! :)

Drum roll please...............

Presenting Rose, weighing in at a impressive 199 lbs!!!!!!!!!!

Another goal reached. So chuffed. A week early too!!!!! 4 lbs till the next one.

We can get there girlies!!!!!!

Lots of people on here that have got the wrap. I can't comment because it is not an option for me I'm afraid... I'm scheduled to have a gastric bypass once balloon has served it's purpose which isn't so reversible. However the wrap is a far more invasive procedure than the balloon so therefore carries more risk and as far as i am aware nobody does this in the uk but i could be wrong. Best place to ask is the wrap section on this forum :) x

I have indeed. My best friend in Scotland used to brew her own. She had her own culture.

Femfrankie, that's a brilliant result too!!!! You are doing brilliantly. How's your mobility? Hope you are a still seeing improvements there. Are you meeting with your team this week? They will see a huge change!!!!

We rock!!!!!

Cb4, should have said, if you buy it from a shop, chances are it does not have any culture in it so won't replace the bugs. Look out on the label to see if it has been pasteurized. There are varying comments on its benefits, detoxing probably the main one. Also, it's a yeast and bacteria symbiotic fermentation so mind yourself if you react to yeast.
