Debs ramblings about her NHS sleeve...

Sadly my trumps am have gone now! But still burping - I can do most of the percussion now for Toccata and Fugue!

Lmao - sadly? Do you want the recipe for my lentil soup ? :8855: I file it under percussion :D
 
Yesterday was day 10. Late again!!!!

I am sleeping between 6/8 hours a night. If I wake early now it's the dog not discomfort!

All meds no worries - seem immune now to the jabs! I am even oblivious to the Dalivit - though the smell is vile!

Did the ironing yesterday, changed all the bedding, mowed the lawn and went to sainsbury's. Popped in to see a friend on way home and all was fine.

Showering, self care, and using the loo is all fine. No issue at all.

Food - milky coffee and marvel at breakfast time, 400ml of soup for lunch and I added whey protein, dinner was a Fortimel 20gm protein shakes for 200ml liquid. Supper was a mug of stir and serve soup. Endless tea and coffee and 1.8L water. All ok.

That's 10 days of updates. As it's consistent now I am only going to journal anything that deviates!

The pain in day 1-2 was not nice. Honestly day 3 onwards after getting home and getting a stack of sleep day 2-4 was the big change. No sickness since day 3. No pain meds since day 2. GP allowing me to drive from day 6 was a boost and a decent walk each day I feel has had a positive impact - I did 10,400 odd steps yesterday.

I am still inflated and feeling bloated. But it's getting slowly less. Wounds not long have any scabs. All now just red lines. Slightly raised and no longer itching! My burp and trump phase has abated!

I haven't deviated from the instructions of my team and stick to fluids. I do crave texture and taste but currently I am winning that head battle. I don't feel hungry particularly.

I don't struggle now with liquids though I don't gulp as that's not a nice feeling!

I am having now between 700-990 calories a day via liquid. The all milk coffees twice a day providing a third of that I guess. Adding marvel/whey protein helps me get to 60gms protein each day.

My only issue I guess is bland fatigue. I am a bit fed up with no variety and bland food. But it's doing a good job as it's making me less excited about meal times and more interested in the nutrition everything provides. I've no idea if this will ingrain in my pea brain. I hope it does for many reasons.

Back to snoozing now ! ?

Good morning op-buddy. :). Day 11 today for us. Lol I think you git the Ferrari and I got the old banger on the recovery stakes. :8855: funny how we are all so different.

Google fit tells me I only had 35 mins of activity yesterday and I sleep 6 hours in the daytime. My wounds still itchy as beggary. Like you maning quite a lot if cals on liquids. 750 or so. Had less on my pre op lol.

Great to see you doing so well, just hope I can catch up. :)

I do have funny random issue. One of the 3 wounds in the crease of my belly has popped a stitch out. Weird to look at! GP can sort on Tuesday!

It's about 3mm in reality!

Think I have an odd end sticking out. Nurse said she had never seen the invisible clear stitches before. Really?

My wounds are still a Bit scabby and bruised but clean enough. I reek of hibiscrub lol

Debs. Cutting down on carbs can help control the hunger

Having the likes of the cauliflour cheese soup broccoli and Stilton soup and maybe a couple of Ufit protein drinks which are not too high in carbs helped me.

If I am taking in any more than 50 carbs a day it plays havoc with my blood sugar levels and the hunger and craving are the Pitts

They say hunger returns as we heal. Being on liquids is hard because it passes right through, but once on heavier puree hopefully that will help. Might be worth talking to your dietician as you seem to be doing everything right hun.
Maybe you'll get an early pass to puree.
Personally am hoping puree will help rid me of the runs. Lol
 
Oh my god that worm sticking out of your wound is sick!!! Haha.. Oh god..let's hope you get it sorted!!
So witness the hunger feeling is actually healing but feels like hunger..

All I am having each day is a glass of hot milk for breakfast. A cup of soup at lunch and a protein shake for dinner. I am not sure what else I can cut out if I a honest. I have 2 litres of water also and that's it as I am on liquids till July 5th xxx
 
Not a lot - I can have oxo drinks as well they say - eww.

Can't have yoghurts yet. Sometimes I have an acitimel drink and 1-2 more diet cup of soups. But that's it.

I am not being cruel to myself. It's what they have told me I can have for 4 weeks.

They have a severe post op regime I feel!!!!

Morning Debs, is there any reason you cant have 2 soups ? Cant stand protein drinks myself I gag on them.

They really do look strict, though my stage 1 can take 4 weeks I can try my puree from midnight lol
 
Oh my strict indeed. I was given the all clear to eat anything at my 5 week post op check! I wonder why the difference in opinion is so vast! Xx

Morning Debs, is there any reason you cant have 2 soups ? Cant stand protein drinks myself I gag on them.

They really do look strict, though my stage 1 can take 4 weeks I can try my puree from midnight lol

I can have 2 soups - but my protein drinks (via prescription) give me 21gms protein for 200 ml - and I cannot get anything like that with soup.

Some days I am having 2 or 3 cup of soups - but they are 70 calories or so.

I went to the GP today and he weighed me - so I know the weight is NOT dropping of me!!!

They weighed me at the breathing clinic at the hospital, I said don't tell me lol and I looked away.

Debs, your body isnt getting much but I know you keep your liquids up. The losses will come, our bodies are complex creatures. Hugx
