Debs ramblings about her NHS sleeve...

My stitch pole is no more - sniff!

I went to see my GP for my 2 week check up - all fine. He happily popped Fultium Vitamin D3, Adcal-D3 and Lansoprazole 30mg on my repeat prescriptions. All that is left on there now is the above and a shower cream for skin irritation. I had 8-9 items a month before!

He said he was not going to routinely supply vitamins and iron and he hopes I can achieve that with a standard over the counter product and a good healthy diet. He will monitor this with blood tests. I feel that is fairly fair and if nothing else it is very clear!

He looked at my wound with the stitch aerial! At first he tried to tug it out - ooowwwwww - so he stopped that promptly. He then pulled it as high as he could from the skin and using a scalpel cut it right at skin level. When he remove the tweezers it popped into the skin and I cannot see it anymore. Hopefully it will be gone for good and no further reappearances - like Alien 2!!!!

Food is boring as its just shakes and soup but its clearly providing what I need so I cannot grumble.

My weight - as you know 17 5 on day of op. 18 3 on date I was released which was only 24 hours later. I know that's mainly fluids - I had 5 bags of IV!

However today - 13 days out - I was all of 17 stone 1lbs according to my GP - so I have lost 4lbs in real terms I guess in the 2 weeks - no one can accuse me of dropping weight recklessly.

I am more than happy with this and very content that I am following the rules, feeling very well indeed and losing some weight x

Well done Debs, it is still good loss! You are doing so well xx

Hey Debs,

Hope you're doing alright..?

I love reading your posts. Always make me laugh.

Coming off so many meds is amazing. They must have been costing a fortune. Thank God for NHS prepay..! ?

Your picture of your stitch is hysterical.

Absolutely well done on your weight loss..! Hopefully now you've got rid of the ton of fluid things will remain steady and you'll drop nicely.

I think I was reading one of Crystals posts and she said that 2lb a week is a whole 4 stone by Christmas. I'd be happy with that..!

xx

Great news on the reduction on your meds. You know how I feel about this, health improvement wins hands down:). Also glad your stitch has been dealt with, I was beginning to fear you had formed an attachment. Best cut off before that happened ;)

Do you feel like your clothes are getting looser ? Did you take measurements as well as weight ? The body seems to do some rearranging of inches at times when weight doesn't move much. This happened to me quite a bit when I lost my weight wit the band.

Either way, you are doing great sticking to those liquids not sure I could go another 2 weeks without facing divorce proceedings lol.

Hugx

I've divorced a number of men already Chrissie - so I suspect had there been an incumbent during WLS he may well have suffered the same fate!!!!

I do feel my clothes are easier to wear - and I am much better than I was before my liver shrinking diet. That started on or about 29th April as I recall (should read my diary!!) and I think I was about 18 stone 13. I had rounded it to 19 I guess in my head and I am now more or less 17 so in a round about way that's still roughly 2 stones in less that 2 months - there is no point fretting I've decided that for sure - just following the rules and trusting that this will mean it will work - alebit in its own time!

As you say, for me the big issue is that I feel well. I am having a more or less normal time of it. I don't feel sick - don't struggle to get liquids and meds in and I can use the loo uneventfully - all these do seem like the big wins here.

Anyhow, saying that I mowed the law today and went to bed late so I may now have a nap - how decadent is this !!!!!!!

Mowing the lawn? Isn't that a bit strenuous this early out? Make sure you don't overdo it missus or there will be hell to play ! Enjoy your nap, great fan of naps at the moment but trying and winning to get most of my sleeping done at night.

One divorce was enough for me lol. This one had been a keeper till now, 27 years lol but we do have out moments.

2 stone over that time is really good, I lost very little on my preop but then again I didn't suffer much and ate well lol. My heaviest since my regain was 17.10 in April. I lost a bit when I couldn't eat as the reflux was at it's worst then Yoyo'd till my op when I was 17.1
I put on a couple of pounds before my op, from what who knows as I was on between 800-1000 cals. Whatever I have lost so far, like you, I am fine with it. Sticking to the program we know it will come off either inches or weight.
Yup op-buddy we are winning :bliss:

Day 15.

Woken early. I am working today. I am facilitating a training session for 30 people regarding retirement and reemployment upon leaving their existing career. I will sit / stand so hopefully will be fine but certainly I bet I will sleep well tonight!!

I've had a shake before I go and will take some cup of soups to sort out lunch.

It's my daughters prom tonight so I am anxious to get home before she leaves at 5!

Have a lovely day all.

Have a great day and hope that tour daughters prom goes well. Pics please xxxx

Day 15

Up at 6 showered and suited, hair coiffed and makeup slapped on - today I was going to work.

Shake for breakfast before I left.

Its about a 45 minute commute and then work started at 0845 - I was delivering training and I am a walk around and use the flip chart a lot type so I got plenty of steps in!

Cup of soup at lunch - not enough liquid to day due to me blathering at the students - must work on how to incorporate sipping better.

Managed to finish on time and dashed home to help with final prom prep - I only had 30 minutes with my daughter before she had to get the transport - but it was still lovely!

Dinner was some chicken soup. It was fine but I am at bland fatigue now. My taste buds are crying for some variation and I feel sorry for them!!!

Wont be long now - 2 more weeks and I can hit puree - I will puree a lentil and spinach curry to start - salivating at the thought.

Working a full, long and taxing day and having a 1.5 hours overall commute has left me tired tonight and I see a 10pm bed time!

Here are those snaps!

Congrats on surviving the daily commute and work day. I bet you are shattered. Lovely lovely photos of your daughter, you must be so proud if her. :) Don't they grow up quick.
I couldn't face another tin of chicken soup and I only ever had one on liquids, my taste just didn't like them anymore. It wasn't just the bland.

Hope you get a good sleep hun. Hugx

Well it's now day 19 post op. Busy few days recovering from Beckys Prom and then frantically getting her ready for her holidays. Drove to Manchester last night for an overnight stay in a airport hotel. Dropped her today at terminal 3 for her flight to Philadelphia. She is there, New Jersey, New York and Niagara Falls for 18 days. Bravely travelling alone at 16 but meeting her Auntie when she lands!

I celebrated this morning as I have only 3 clexane injections left to take. I will have administered 41 myself! One the day before my op and 40 injections since my op - 2 a day for 20 days. Tomorrow will be the last. Thankfully!!! I don't mind injecting at all. Just the bruising it leaves.

Anyhow. I am sticking with fluids. Stuck my finger in some Philadelphia cheese yesterday. Just to be reckless! Also the soup at last nights restaurant meal was lumpy in parts - only tomatoes - and I recklessly ate it! I am living on the edge!!!

I can easily eat a full bowl of soup. I can also easily drink a medium size skinny latte at Costa.

Otherwise no change with me. Wounds are looking good. loo use is as it always has been - unremarkable ! Tired by 1030pm most days but managing on. Driving up and down to Manchester was fine also. Definitely the best word to describe it all is unremarkable. !

Purée is another week away - and it cannot come soon enough. I am not hungry. Just craving different textures and flavour.

Hope everyone is well x

Heya op-bud where did that time go?

Your unremarkable is, in itself, remarkable! Hope you know that. :p

I was the same, am the same, with liquids. Can do a full tin of soup equivalent and a fairly big latte, it just slips right through. You should notice when you are on puree :). Oh btw puree becomes tiresome really quick so plan out some different flavours if you can.

What a brilliant holiday for your daughter, I bet the house feels really empty.

How is the weather down there? Just had to abandon hanging my washing out as it started spitting and its sooo grey.. :( this really affects my mood. Humpf. Bet we dont have a heatwave.

Not a lot to report here.

Take care hugx

Ps . Post hasn't brought me anything yet but its really slow here. Just in case you thought I was ungrateful :thankyou:

Your daughter looks gorgeous her dress is really sweet.

You are really back in the thick of things. Your doing amazingly well energy wise on such low calorific intake

Well done xx

Well day 11 post op. Meds fine. No pain. No discomfort. No loo issues. Can drink lashings of liquids blah blah blah. Wounds are all super good. I do have funny random issue. One of the 3 wounds in the crease of my belly has popped a stitch out. Weird to look at! GP can sort on Tuesday! Take a peak

That happened to one of mine, it was a bit freaky but after a while a good tug sorted it out :)

Just jabbed with Clexane. Only one beastie left!!! Wahoo. I am very pleased for the sake of the bruising that this is it!

The bruising isn't horrendous but each 'shot site' has bruised. I had a shot before the op. 3 shots in hospital. 39 since left hospital and one more at tea time today (then no more). Most of my abdomen now is this sort of colour.
