December 2014 Surgeries

Thanks susie. They send them round the chemist so won't be starting till tomorrow when they get delivered but they do usually work better for me too. I would hate to do this pre op again and I just want it all done now and to get on that losers bench :/

Good luck Leda! Just make sure you get posting the minute you're out of recovery ;) want to hear all about it! X

I'll keep everything crossed for you. Take care of yourself x

Called the hospital this morning to double check about the steroids. Good news is I need to take them and it's ok. I'm to go for my pre op appointment tomorrow and the nurse said they'll probably ring me a few days before op to see how I am. If I still have a chest infection it will get cancelled. Just feel soo crap, I was gunna have a busy few days cooking my meals for post op, getting last Xmas presents in, promised kids take them to a farm to see santa and a good clean of the house. Just gunna have to rest best I can it's hard I feel the need to be busy when I'm worried and anxious! Need this over with now just feeling down today and the scales have stopped moving for past 2 days on pre op. With weight I put on before pre op I'm about the same as I was at last appointment maybe a pound lighter with what I've lost past week, so might have to explain that tomorrow too :(

Aww Jo, really don't worry about the weight, the purpose of LSD is not weight loss after all. I ate myself silly after the endoscopy and only really lost what I'd stupidly put on!! As long as you haven't put weight on and you've followed the diet you'll be fine. I also found that weight loss was fast in the first 5 days of lsd then not much at all after that.
Preparation is all well and good but you need to rest and shift the infection so take it easy and get yourself better x

Thanks susie with regards to the weight loss that makes me feel better it sounds like it was the same as you I eat too after endoscopy! We are getting a new front room carpet fitted today so been sorting things out ready and will get christmas Dec's up tomorrow but then I will take it easy and I'll try leaving it all upto my partner. Kids might be just ok seeing santa at the school fair on friday!!

Best of luck to Sonnie and Cherub08 for tomorrow!

Good luck! will be thinking about you.

Good luck!!

As for everyone, hope all are okay. I had my first case of 'vomiting' today. Drank a little too quickly and up came a lot of frothy goo. Felt like my pouch was trying to escape. So painful. Lesson learnt.

I guess this is the enforced learning curve we all need to learn. Sounds a bit nasty but it's part of the learning experience. As someone who tends to down drinks I know this will be a problem for me. One suggestion I've read elsewhere is to freeze a bottle of water and sip from the slowly melting ice.

Thanks guys.

As for freezing drinks, that is a good idea. I am upping my fluids by having sugar free icy poles at the moment, I used to down drinks too, now sipping is a totally different experience. Lesson definitely learned. Not something nice to happen. Pouch hurt so much from it. Don't drink water when distracted. ;)

Eek! Sounds horrible. I'm a guzzler too, especially water and I can't quite imagine not being able to quench a real thirst with a pint of something. I had some surgery when I was 5 on my neck and was caught under the covers sucking on a wet flannel when i was supposed to be nil by mouth!

Thank you all for your good luck wishes xx

Hi everyone, im bypassed! Went down 9-15 and in recovery just after 2 but no beds on ward till 6! Been on a drip and not been off bed yet and I feel like ive been hit by a bus inside lol. The surgeon came round and said all went to plan so happy with that . Started sipping straight away and its really hard not to gulp but it hurts going down if you do, like big chips getting stuck or something. Anyway ill have a litre today then a runny brecky tomorrow then hopefully home to a lighter and healthier me. Good luck to todays oppers and the other Decemberers yet to come. Im on the losers bench "yay" xx
