December 2014 Surgeries

Amazingly I feel nothing. It almost feels like I've had nothing done. 2 days post op the gas pain is gone and unless I move I cant feel anything other than very very mild discomfort.

Managed 300 ml of cocoa 2 x 150ml a few hours apart with fortified milk today with 1 cup tea and 2 cups water. Don't think I'll have soup until tomorrow evening.

Week 3 weigh in :) 5.2 pounds gone !! X Yeyyyyy happy dance !!! Including pre op I'm down 29.2lbs in 5 weeks!! So that's really cheered me up!!

Excellent. I'm curious what my weight is now. I'll weigh myself soon. Should arrive in England in around 90 minutes and home around an hour later.

How's everyone getting on? I'm at my 'disappear while Eastenders is on' time of day so time for a quick update.

I only lost half a stone in the week after surgery, however I know my home scale adds a bit to my weight compared to the hospital/GP and my 'op' weight was measured clothed at the hospital so I probably lost a bit more. Anyway, doesn't matter as long as moving in the right direction. Had my first puree stage meal today. Far too much was on my plate, I filled up in no time. There's probably enough left for two more meals. With the smooth soup it seems I have almost no restriction so it must be going straight through now.

Glad you are doing so well Marcus. You'll be losing so much more now! Glad to hear all went well. Take care xx

What's everyone eating today? I am still on liquids, but it am pureeing food and watering it down at lunch so I can share with festivities... Also been sucking a chocolate button to death because I really wanted some chocolate!! I had my protein shake for breakfast and will do the same for tea...

Hope where ever you are you are having a good time

I'm having some puréed meat mixed with a bit of gravy, puréed broccoli and puréed carrot. Later I'll have some lamb soup.

I did draw the line at puréed Yorkshire pudding and puréed sprouts.

I was not sure of the consistency of my puréed stuff... Liquids is the stage I am on but I am allowed custards.... So I made my puréed food to that consistency... It went down really easy, which worried me a bit. I have not felt full at all... Limited it to 4 table spoons though, I am allowed mashed food in 4 days, just worried I am moving too quick...

Total loss = 2st 13lb!!!!!!!!!!

Yeeeeeeha!!!

Having a lot of pain problems at the moment with the cut muscle but otherwise things are going smoothly. The pain is so sharp it's impossible not to scream a bit.

I do get hungry and meals tend to last about 10 mins rather than 90 minutes. Research suggests this is due to the stomach being swollen the first few weeks and things will settle down.

Similarly I feel hungry an hour after eating or drinking.

3.5 days since I last went to the toilet. Is anyone else having similar experiences?

Had my first post op appt today at just under 2 weeks post op.

Details:
~16 lbs down since pre op appt two weeks ago. I'm very excited that in just 14 days I have lost 16 pounds. I Know these numbers will decrease as I add more food to my diet, but I'm honestly very excited and aim to see another 14 come off before I hit 6 weeks post op.

~Not doing good enough with my protein (not shocking since I don't drink protein shakes). Dr. Lufti says I could sabotage this whole process by becoming protein deficient, so I'm going to try to do better with my efforts. I'm going to start my transition into puréed foods with greek yogurt in an attempt to get the protein ball rolling.

~Doing well with my water/liquid intake. I really only drink Gatorade and water with lime/lemon.

Not horrible, but I have improvements to make.

7 days since surgery and I gotta say im happily pain free in every way and not at all interested in food. Sat diwn to both xmas and boxing day lunches and sipped cocoa while people ate. Didn't even fancy dinner.

Toilet twice since. Both very difficult and TMI I know but rock hard and hard to pass I think because I'm mildly dehydrated as drinking is never my thing.

Been.up n about well. Even went to westfield shopping centre 3 days post op for last minute gifts.

So far touch wood its been fantastic. Just gotta up the fluids. Fibre and lactulose :)

Staples out tuesday and onto puree
