December 2014 Surgeries

It's interesting. My guidelines had toast from week 1, 'stale' bread (not fresh!) from week 3 and no restrictions from week 5. I'm in week 5 now and have had rice/pasta without issue.

What a lovely post dream. So happy for you. I know what you mean about yours clothing they have fab sale. I was dying to buy a top for after surgery in a 24 it was in sale and lovely but I resisted lol x

Thanks Jo, I'm down around four stone since starting pre-op in November. :) xx

I do feel a lot healthier. I am noticing how my feet are not hurting as much at work. I am not breathless as much. I actually ran up my stairs today in a hurry, but I didn't notice till after I'd sat down and thought about it, that I'd done it. Feel so different, still find it really surreal that I can feel some bones in my body that I never really noticed before, such as hip bones when lying down and my clavicle bones are starting to show. Feels odd as for long as I can remember I've never felt these bones externally without having to press down, now they are visible. Will get used to it with time. ;) xx

I'm sure you will. your doing great. I kno I can't wait to be on the weight loss wagon.. day 2 pre op diet I guess I am on my way lol x

I'm getting close to my first big milestone. More than anything it's clothing that was tight fitting well and some clothes becoming a bit baggy. It's still early days.

What's your first big milestone ? Mine will be five stone?! X

My first milestone is 300lbs (or rather 299.9999lbs). Just over 3lbs to go.

3 days til op. Eek! Did anyone use babyfood in the first couple of weeks (thinking from purée stage)?

Is that indicated by your team?

Different teams favour different pre/post op diets. It's best to follow as there are many variations in surgery and recovery is also different. However there are common guidelines and when I see purée I personally don't see baby food. I found blended veg, blended mince and some mash made up a decent small meal.

I struggle with bread . Toasting well done is the best tho x

I eat rye bread. Its yummy and sits a lot better in side me than wholegrain bread. I buy organic sunflower seed bread by mestemacher in sainsburys. Its sliced organic wholemeal rye bread with rye grains and sunflower seeds. I think its the best tasting rye bread that you can buy in the shops. 100g is 216cals, 5.6g of protein, 3.6g of sugar, 4g of fat, and 9.4g of fiber.

I did try a Heinz baby food pot on the puree stages, tasted awful and really sickly. Much easier, as Marcus said, to make your own puree. Coming up to two months since surgery now (2mth will be 3rd Feb). It's gone so fast. Hope all are still doing well and scales are moving for you. :)
