February 2014 Surgeries

Plane flights caused lots of burps, but no harm done. Looking forward to getting back into routine and proper eating tomo. My new trousers I've just bought for the trip are feeling baggy, hope they've not stretched. I'm tired, but feel ok. Kip tomo n rest for me x For some reason ive really turned against milk build up typedrinks and protein drinks. Ate two very soft egg yolks for breaky n top of a croissant, the middle out of a prawn and an egg sandwich chewed to death for lunch, melon balls and a coffee. Two baby bells in the plane for t n a coffee. KNow I've been off the advice n keep to get back, but cannot understand how I can eat so many things, even in tiny amounts. Very happy its going well x

Hi all, hope everyone is well, so thought I would check in, I now have my band fitted, waited till 2.30 this afternoon but never mind it done now and I'm happy to squeeze onto the losers bench, I was delighted to have lost over a stone on pre op. I'm now well enough to let everyone know that I am grand, just a wee bit wind pain but just had paracetamol for a head ache probably caused by dehydration and anaesthesia.Looking forward to some soup when I feel up to it, just having cranberry juice, tastes amazing. Onwards and downwards yeehah !!!!

Do u like milk shakes? I started on the food like baby weening as I was hungry n my body told me to do it. Can't explain, you just know. I've always listened to my body, even when scoffing lol. Shame u can't sleep yet, do u use a pillow for ur side? I did till I was ok . You've certainly made great strides. Great news. Xx

Hi Wenny, I'm 6 weeks post sleeve and had my follow up appointment the other day. I'm on 3 meals and 2 snacks, dietitian confirms thats perfect!

Feeling very demoralised - in the past 4 days I yet to consumed over 250 cals yet I have put on one pound. wtf? what was the point! :(

I can sympathise, try eating more, three meals but healthy, crunchy and filling food and stop eating at the first feeling of being full and drink, drink, drink. Overall if you look back over a month it will be a downward trend which is all we need. Slow and steady wins the race, you're doing really well.

Thank you! I can't eat crunchy as still on liquid diet and eating as much as I can to be satiated. I know I need to look at the big picture but one pound up has really annoyed me. 10k for this surgery and I could have quite easily put on a pound for free. And to date, the majority of my weight loss thus far is thanks to the pre op diet anyway! Feel so angry about this and I cant even go eat my feelings! I have a bad attitude today!

HI, I was banded last Tuesday and over the course of the op I put on about 4lbs - personally I think it was fluid (I was put on a drip overnight), and water-retention and swelling.

That's now dropped off. This sneaky pound of yours isn't real - I'm sure of it. There are so many things that can account for a 1lb gain. A slightly saltier soup for example which can make you retain water - hormone fluctuations - not drinking enough - needing to...erm...go to the loo - dodgy scales - gravity:D

Keep your chin up - 1lb is nothing and it probably is nothing! I'm off to get some protein powder today as, like you I'm struggling to get beyond 300 cals a day and I'm worried about my protein intake.

Onwards and downwards for us and one pesky pound is neither here nor there xx

Yes you are probably right Bandito! I too put on weight over the procedure itself but that went and I am now 2 weeks post op.

Well done to you though in getting through it all it's a strange sensation post op but it all starts to click into place, the pain and tightness all go look forward to hearing about all your losses. :)
