February 2015 Surgeries

These have been on another thread. Arla protein yoghurt, 20g protein per 200g pot - really filling, half a pot would do, very thick and rich but not really fruity. Next time will maybe have some berries to liven it up. Also 2 quid for 3 in Tesco

I know Siana, I'm all ready for healthy eating and not at all bothered about sweet things. My taste buds have changed, used to have such a sweet tooth so puddings and chocolate was always my downfall. This time of year I like a nice healthy salad with meat or fish and am gutted I can't have any yet!

Oh Tina, you poor thing!
I was advised to work through the stages of diet allowing about a month for each stage. I have been advised that it will take between 3-6 months to get back into normal consistency foods due to healing on the inside.
Have you tried jacket potato but not eating skins? Just thinking that they are soft and you can have different things with them.
Good luck hun xx

I'm managing baked beans, egg or fish for my protein. Struggling to have many meals as I should each day as not feeling very hungry. I'm really off yogurts and threw loads away last week! If I can't manage a meal I'm having a slim fast shake but am going to start adding fruit and blending it. Being on iron tablets, I don't want to get constipated, especially as there is very little fruit or veg at this stage of my diet.

Hey Siana, well done on Zumba. It is such a hard exercise, tried once...ached for days!

I played basketball last Friday. Was great to go back to it.

Asparagus, I don't know why but my tummy hurt after eating it. Maybe it is fibrous? Celery, sweetcorn like veg is said to be difficult to digest.

Sorry you are struggling with food Tina. It takes a while to get back to normal.you are consuming such low calories, take care of yourself. I felt very dizzy and tired at that stage.

Cheryl and Alison, good luck with normal food. It is a good place to be. Especially because you can now get protein through food, not powders. I eat protein first, then veg and then carbs (says she... just ate 1,5 yorkshire pudding before meat!)

Zumba's not that hard, well not the way I do it! Would have thought basketball was very challenging? Have also given up my parking space at work so I have to walk through town, only half a mile each way but it will be 5 days a week enforced exercise. Would love to swim but haven't got the nerve to get into a cozzie yet, maybe I need a private pool?

Oh a private pool would be lovely.... maybe by the Mediterranean sea?

Walking is good Siana, you will feel the difference in a few weeks time. Enjoy.

I confess I had to google Zumba lol. Saw a great video and it really appeals to me. Dancing was always my favourite exercise. Not sure my knees could cope. Will see after my bypass and some weight loss. Do you go to a class or stick on avid at home?

I go to classes, all shapes, sizes and ages go and we have a laugh too! Great music, wiggle wiggle and shimmy for an hour. It's really feel good and you can make it as low or high impact as you want.

Seems we have both zumba and aqua zumba nearby. I might try the one on the pool as a starting point because of my knees. :)

Morning all, the sun is out in Worcestershire again. Well today is 8 weeks since my surgery and I can start to introduce normal food. Spoke to the dietician yesterday and she said do it gradually over two weeks.

I am very excited and cannot believe I have already done 4 weeks soft food.

Back/hip still really playing up and taking codeine again. Back to the Chiropractor this afternoon.

The iron does seems to have given me more energy, just wish the wound would heal. It is decreasing but still being packed every two days and the dressing only just hold it. Bit smelly by the end of two days - yuk TMI!

Still waiting for an appointment from occ health re back to work. Rang them yesterday and they have not received referral from my boss so couldn't make me and appointment! What rubbish - fit note ends May 4th.

Sounds like you are all doing well - I had a crafty mid week pop on the scales and have put on a pound - wish I hadn't got on now :(.

Hi Alison,

Don't worry about the scales, at different times of day you will way different. I weigh myself at least twice a day and I know I shouldn't:D:D
One day I weighed myself everytime I went upstairs and the weight fluctuated by 7lbs !!!

Did you measure yourself before the op?

Good luck with normal food, I'm still on mainly soft and introducing a little at a time, mainly at weekends as I don't fancy being rough at work!! Last night I got the foamies with my iron tablets!! The joy's of WLS:eek:

Hugs

Tina

Bloody scales, never weighed myself before (great big case of denial, if I didn't see the numbers, I was fine) but now I have to resist at least daily weighing, mad!

I wish I measured myself pre op, having a stall weight wise but all my clothes baggy (apart from round boobs) and my daughter told me the other day I have no bum left. However, still have a substantial amount to lose, my head is a bit messed up with it all, I have no idea what I look like or what I can wear without looking stupid. Have resisted buying anything but have two conferences to go to in next few weeks so could do with something smart. I am dreading trying things on in case I'm the same size, but I can grab handfuls of fabric on my trousers so I can't be. Losing me marbles I think...... ;)

Glad all are doing better, and enjoying the weather

No you are not looking your marbles Siana, get rid of those trousers and get new smaller ones girl....

Spoke to my nurse today, she suggested measuring my bum, waist, neck and arms. Said soon the weight loss will stall but your body shape will continue changing ( for the better I hope!) So in order not to feel disheartened, check measurements.

I seem to be up and down a pound over the week.

I think I'd like to drop another size first otherwise I will be skint! Going to have a good look at what I've got, likely have a load of stuff in the loft. The 80s are back, right?

I have reached the two and a half stone loss and have been sorting out some tops to give a friend. I've bagged up loads, all 22-26 blouses and tops. The only thing is, I have only 1 top that fits but is looking baggy too!
I'm going shopping tomorrow to buy tshirts and leggings as we've decided to go to the coast for a few weeks to convalesce......only I've been in nighties and in bed a lot!
Even nighties are too big!
Sounds like everyone is doing well! Keep up the hard work!
Ruth xx

Weird isn't it, you lose weight but your shape changes to, the flesh distribution is different, it's not like you are just a slimmer version but certain places just massively shrink, my bum and thighs have really slimmed down but I still have big blobs (I wish they would shrink!)

Going to the coast sounds great, will be lovely

Very negative day, went to a big Next after work to look at clothes and had full on anxiety attack as now I am heading to a "normal" size got completely and utterly overwhelmed! All I wanted was a pair of black trousers!

Came home and ate some Ryvita way too quickly, bloody hell am I paying for it now.......feels like I have a big rock in my chest.

Lessons learned, keep calm and carry on WITHOUT stuffing your face. I feel such a Muppet.... :(

Oh Siana hope you are unblocked now, I also had a bad day yesterday backwards and forwards to kitchen munching on feta and ham had two small platefuls and then felt so out of control.
