Hi, I'm Kirsty, banded August 2014. My post op dairy

I always used to like fish cakes with a tight band. Homemade food process the cooked fish up a bit and add a small ratio of mash and seasoning etc and cook. Lots if protein and only a bit of carbs if you just use it as a binder. Plus the fish is mushed a bit more in the blender x

Yes your food blender is your friend with a band. I used to have lasagne a lot with lots of sauce, Kirsty does low carb though. I suggested on my own diary she might want to try homemade steak burgers, If you finely mince the steak, they may also be an option. The men of the house love them, I make them spicy.
 
And mince is much easier to eat if you make the spag Bol sauce and then give it a couple of whizzes of the hand blender just to break down the mince a bit more not to blend it. In fact I still do this now, makes it more tender and the kids prefer the texture and much kinder on a band tummy x
 
Will be interesting if I have any restrictions as I have the sleeve. Currently I eat chicken with no problems and had cheese and crackers (hovis ones) for the first time today. So far so good although I could only eat 2 :)

I agree 100% with this Daisy. Though I said further up the thread that if something gives you the foamies avoid it, that doesn't work if nearly everything other than slider foods makes it happen. In that case, you almost definitely need an unfill and should get advice pretty quickly. Being that tight can cause dilation, slippage and erosion. Oh , and weight gain.

When are you seeing Bart ? I expect he will give you an unfill but best to ask him for advice. Are you chewing properly? I see you said you can eat a large portion of food, is that because you bring some back then have some more ?

Just Take is easy on yourself in the meantime small portions well chewed. Log your food on myfitnesspal or similar. Stick to the 20 20 20 rule.

I am not sure if I could have eaten more weegie, but was definitely comfortable after the 2 and thought anymore would be pushing it.

Tonight for tea the OH and kids had a half roast chicken each! As there is 6 of us I put a half on my plate knowing I wouldn't barely eat any. I ate 3 mouthfuls and then told the kids I couldn't eat anymore as I felt sick.whether it was sociological or physical my body refused the chicken tonight.

We are on hols and find that most of my Kcals are coming from liquid. J20 has become my new friend when in the pub, Shame its 88kcals per glass. :(

Good job I am burning an extra 1200 a day haha

Going to see bart.. I don't know if im not chewing properly things like salad and fruit give me foam. Maybe I should chew more I used to think i need to eat quick so i can eat a lot? if that makes sense.. or eat before I thorw up. And yes sometimes I end up bring back up food after like bite 4.. so i wait it out and continue.

I watched those videos going to start changing how I eat.

Do you mean that you are over restricted so you are just eating slider foods and that's made you gain?

I dont eat slider foods but i think from reading im eating wrong foods. Like steak chicken etc seems other people have issues too with the band. So maybe instead of forcing that I should change to softer foods.

Gweni I feel like j am a newbie. I went out for dinner with Lindsay last night and my go to food in the pub are steak and salad or chicken and bacon salad

I looked at the menu and there was nothing I felt I could eat. I ended up with a portion of chips and a side of curry sauce!!!!! I never eat this type of food. It would not even have been my food of choice pre op

I gave gained two pounds this week because of my food choices. I have done low carb for years and just don't know where to go here

Ivan actually see why Karina opts for danios and lunchables - but I would need hunners to keep me full as even though I am restricted now I still get very hungry. There is no way I can stick to three side plate portion meals a day I need a couple of snacks

Breakfast two 100 pots of liberte high protien yoghur
Mid morning four slice of wafer thin ham wrapped round two laughing cow light cheese
Lunch home made cabbage and tomato soup be another yoghurt
Dinner weegie's fage tzatziki with home made chilli

So calories approx

Beakfast 200
Mid morning 100
Lunch 250
Dinner ?????
Evening - half an atkins bar 120

So without knowing cals for evening meal I am at 670 - I think tea might be 500

So that's the plan for today girls. I will worry about getting more veg in later
 
Hey Hun don't panic, feel like your last message was tainted with fear and trepidation... Your heads going to take a few months to catch up with your tummy new capabilities soooooo.... Back to basics :) do all the mini new sized portions and train your brain to say I'm not hungry. I don't need a snack it's just my head wanting one.

In 1 week your head might still need telling this but you do have the ability to train brain and break habits.

I know you've had years of certain foods and ways but you can change leopards spots xxx

Food is fuel now not your fun past time or hobby, you are no longer big and have to find other passions in life x

Its good to plan the day out, no surprises and always having something handy if you feel like snacking. When I low carbed I used to take a little tupperware dish with cubes of cheese and celery to work and I snacked on that. The celery might be hard but you said you were OK with tomato? Maybe something like that always handy.

If you have a Lidl nearby, try their jars of roast peppers. Lovely as a side veg. Also those long pointy peppers you get, spray a litltle Olive oil on em and roast them uncovered the skin will just slide off. I am a fan of peppers without the skin as they tastes so much sweeter.

Your cauli rice should still be fine with the chilli, no ? Or even one of those zucchini Taco shells :)

Boiled egg yesterday for me as an emergency stop at a little shop lunch whist dashing round between site visits X

I have eggs for my brunch quite often and I always boil an extra one for those time when I feel like snacking. A boiled egg fills you up like almost instantly. Do t like them too hard though, 6 minutes boiled perfect. :)

1200 is a good place to start, gives you some leeway to drop a little once you are nearer your goal. You use myfitnesspal right ?

Ps I am not entirely convinced you cannot have a honeymoon period now you have a band that works. It is different for bandsters. Theirs starts when restriction comes tbh.

Chrissy three small plates of food leavese hungry after an hour or so

High protein meals ? Also, sometimes we think its hunger, drinking fluids will reduce it. You could always have 5 or 6 200 calorie meals again mostly protein.

Edit.. Oh ignore me thats more or less what you planned. Sorry.
