It's official, I have sleep apnoea :D

Hi Caren,

So glad you got the test result you wanted. I did notice earlier today a couple of posts I saw your new signature where it says at the bottom "6 Jan 2012 its official, im a hosehead" ... but I did not see this thread at the time.

At work I was able to log on to WLS and reply to a few messages up until lunch time, but after lunch it seems our pesky IT people have blocked my access to yet ANOTHER fun (and *useful*) "quiet moments at work" browsing thing !!!!

Anyway have caught up now, late at home. ;-)

Best wishes with your journey -- funding and getting your GP to get his skates on !!!
thanks sharon :) i changed my sig this morning but went out so didnt start this thread till later :) xxx

Hmm don't know what to do then , I can't not have my licence , I never here a problem driving & I have been wearing cpap for 2 months now . I shall think on it over the weekend xx

Aw feel shocking now, hon, for adding to your worries :cry: but it is by complete fluke that I was doing this this evening. Bizarrely they don't ask about heart conditions which is why I was filling it in in the first place as my hubby had a bypass a couple of years ago. Sorry, sweetie xxx :wave_cry:

So can you not have a licence at all if you have to have cpap? Xx

Caren that is good news that you have finally got some answers and can now progress on your journey. I am lucky and have never had a problem with my CPAP I have the nose mask with humidifier and have slept with it like a baby from day one, my only tip is keep your mouth shut before you turn the machine on and it will be fine.
xxxxxx

thanks honey, all advice welcome lol xxx

I have a cpap machine and I drive if you use it every night it records it and you can drive
I see the nurse and doctor every year now and as long as I use it every night for my full sleep it's ok I average about 7 hrs a night over the year
See what the clinic nurse says I think it won't be as bad as you think

Errrrr ... could be a problem here, lol :eek::eek: xxx

Caren im so flippin glad you are on the way now and lets hope once you have had the op your s/a stops.
I honestly can not think of anyone who deserves this op as much as you do, you give so much suport to all on here and have had the worst time getting your funding so im keeping it crossed for a fast and smooth Journey for a special person xxxxxxxxxx

I always use a lipsol stops lips drying and a must is humidifier but keep it off he floor and put the tube under your pillow or you'll get a rain storm in your face in the cold nights but I still make mistakes but it's all fun and when you fly you get a letter and it's not part off your baggage allowance so that's good the clinic are really good if you go camping will lend you a battery pack also if your strap goes slack they will get you a new one but keep old ones and old masks for back up in case one breaks but you'll be fine also keep us alive

Hi Caren, one thing you can do right now to help yourself get better sleep, use pillows to prop yourself up to a sleeping position. It will be a pain to get off to sleep, but gravity will help keep your airways open and you will notice an improvement the next morning. Not as good as cpap, but its what I did for a few nights when there was a hole in my cpap tube.

Also a lot of people posting seem to be under the assumption that sleep apnoea automatically stops when you have surgery; actually the incidence of sleep apnoea in post-oppers is only halved! So there's a 50-50 chance you may still have it afterwards.

Caren has gone to put this to the test, lol ... hope she gets a good nights sleep after the giddy day she has had :):) xxx
