January 2014 surgeries

Keep me posted...you may feel a bit gripey 1st thing but absolutely don't go out until AFTER you've been to the loo xxx

Hi all, had a bit of a rough journey. Blood pressure crashed during surgery so was being monitored closely. Had me hooked up to fluids but every time I got up I was close to fainting which was a bummer as the wind pain in my right shoulder was excruciating! Anyway did a blood test and they recon I had a post op leak probably from a port site so I was give 2 units of blood last night and am felling a lot better today but may need another tomorrow. This was most definitely not in my plan...........
Not managing enough fluid as then nausea is awful but I'm hopeful for a good nights sleep tonight. Oh and you should see my bruised tummy - very impressive.

Hi jan ops. Hope you r all ok n losing :)

A question for you pls... Did they get you out of bed n make you walk immediately? How much pressure was put on you to walk? Thank you in advance x

they tried to make me Thursday morning (day after) but was very nauseous. Was then given anti sickness and the physio was really nice. Came back late evening and we tried again. Wasn't pushy or anything just wouldn't discharge me until she was happy I could walk around.

Ok, I have a bit of a prob. I went into Hosp Tuesday to have a minor knee arthroscopy n ended up with them drilling holes into my femur n saying no weight baring on the leg for four to six weeks. I'm fine in myself n using a scooter n moving around ok, just wondered if this would be the cruncher n my op postponed as a result. I'm ringing Luton n going to c them this week, but wanted to arm myself with facts etc to maximise the op still taking place, but not put me at further risk if u get my drift . The by pass was due 13th feb, 3.5 weeks after my supposed minor op grrr

Mine was revision, & my op took much longer & was more complicated over 4hrs. I needed to pee in recovery & obv given bedpan, which I sat on or slept on for 20mins... I then pulled it out got up & went for a wee...twice!
Back in room I thought as per previous surgery I should start wandering about, I was unable to sleep & incredibly restless, awake all nite...when surgeon visited next morning I was told to spend day in bed end of!!
So I did, and it helped...op day Wed walked about Wed, stayed in bed Thu, Fri lunchtime was crippling wind pain day, Sat onwards improved x

Hi mine is revision n co placated due to so much scarring. I'm expected to be in theatre 4/5 hours to fir by pass but if takes too long due to adhesions I will get sleeved. I'm a complex case iVe been told. Surgeon said he likes a challenge. Just wonder if having this injury now will tip the complications too far . I'm scarred they will say no to the 13th which will mean I have a holiday booked in April so ill get fatter :( then op delayed further :(((( awwwwww I'm so upset if I get delayed :(

i was bed bound op day with catheter, saturday they got me sat in chair and that night nurse carried my catheter stuff so i could walk to door and back. next 3 days i had to walk when i could and sit in chair in between

I had wrap (plication) Jan 2012, it was my intention to get a sleeve, upon further tests surgeon recommended bypass, when opened up he couldn't just do bypass he had to completely remove the plicated area as there was no vascular input or output into it.
I didn't have scarring issues but obv post op infection risks are far greater due to removal of a large area of stomach.

So will they let me hop after surgery if I do walking exercises in the air? I'm hopping now. If I only had one ,eg I'd have to hop ?!?!? Lol I can get in and out if chair n go to loo n do self care. I'm so angry the hospital left me like this fir months n months. If I'd had it done earlier I wouldn't have suffered so much n would have been done way before this op was due :((( fffffffff n ffffffff again lol x

Aw larabelle we are bound to get days like this..just think of it a short term thing like pre op was and that in a couple of weeks you will be able to have your grilled chicken salmon n veg and still enjoy all the benefits from surgery :)

thanks. Bypass. I'm sure I will be fine just a sad day full of frustrations.

not even sure the booklet says 4 weeks then on to soft but the book they recommend return 2 slender says different.

They all say slightly different. Follow surgeons advice x

Ring them n ask them for an info leaflet if they do them . Or at least advice. Everyone is different tho x
