My Gastric Bypass Journey -Onwards and Upwards-Well this is a start

Hi tammy

Well have decided thats it I am going to wear my new wig all the time!!!!!!!!!! I am even debating on cutting my hair so so short so it sits better........ drastic I know, but I have never know anything like it!!!

Ah MAndy you have just had your hair cut nice, are you really losing so much hair just now???? My mum used to wear wigs all the time but I remember trying one on and it itched like mad. I hate my hair at present its only short and I have to colour it myself as the grey roots come through so quick. Every morning I get up its stuck up like ken dodds because I sleep so badly....So I sit at home with my hair stuck up, in my pyjamas and bra less......lol...no wonder I am single.....Linda x

He has noticed the hairloss.... think it looks worse cause my hair is black!!!!!!!!

Although spoke to a friend to day who speaclised in hair, adn products and treatments.....

I got a huge lecture about it, and he asures me that it is only due the op, and that my body is in shock... and that in about 18 months my hair will be great!!! his advice is Vitamin D and also Almond Oil Shampoo.......

It makes sense really as you have changed something drastically inside your body that was use to doing something its own way and that has now all changed. Keep your chin up hun and look forward to nice new glossy hair.....((hug)) Linda x

Vitamin D is fiercely good for you, and most people don't have enough of it here in the UK (having psoriasis I've researched it a lot). My recommendation would be to look for vitamin D3, and aim for atleast 1000ui per day.

Well Mandy i have spent most the morning in tears. it literally is coming out in handfulls now and i feel so down about the prospect of losing it all. my friend came over last night and she said she would come to look at wigs with me which is lovely of her but makes me feel so sad. so i will be slim and bald!!!!

let me know how you get on hun and i feel for you x

Ah Tammy try not to worry that may be having an affect on your hair....chin up chick, I just put on another of your posts about asking anyone that is a few years post op they may be able to tell you that it does stop after a while and your hair will return.....((hug))....Linda x

hi mandy, as you know i am on waiting list for bypass surgery and the nurse told me now to start taking hair supplements way before the op. i am taking LAMBERTS FLORISENE FOR HAIR GROWTH IN WOMEN and it seems quite good for me. (remember though i havent had surgery yet) but my hair seems nicer and alittle thicker. hope this helps.

hi mandy, also i forgot to tell you, they put me on forceval multi-vitamin and mineral supplement and that is full of biotin a supplement for the hair!!

I've noticed more hair in my brush, and if I run my hand through it... :(

However, it is just due to the op, as the body can shut down non-essential growth to make up for the drop in calories. Unfortunately, hair is not considered important to the body... only us!!!

It will grow back, baba... it's just a really distressing stage in the weightloss journey that most peeps have to go through, be is surgical, LL or CD.

It will be ok, mate :hug99:
