newbie susie starting out.... help

came back from my check up today. found out i am severly anemic. i am at a 9 and i have to get it up to a 10 before surgery. am now on ferrous iron tabs.
and yes yes yes they gave me a date of october 1st (but may change) depending on anemia etc. yipppeeee

Sorry about the anaemia, but great news on the date!

Make sure you take some vitamin c before the ferrous to aid absorption, something like a glass of fresh orange juice half an hour before. Be aware of the effects on your bowels, and if need be try some benefibre to counteract it :)

Stick with the iron and you'll soon get surgery-fit.

Great news Susie about your hopeful date!! Thats not long. Keep at it with the iron tablets, and try and eat iron rich foods - lots of green veg for you. When I was anaemic, my GP recomended dried apricots as being rich in iron too, which I had no clue about but once you get your iron levels up you will certainly feel less tired. Keep us all posted xx
 
hi susie great news on your date.. i am anaemic too i take iron tablets and then they discovered i have prenious anaemia and i have b12 injections every 3months.. i was only diagnosed not so long ago but still had my banding op 2weeks ago and all went well.. hope this helps.

glad youve got your date confirmed, i'm nearly 4 weeks post op and its the best thing ive ever done, if you want any questions answered please ask, ile try and be as frank as you want or not as the case may be
