November 2014 Surgeries

Good luck. I am too going to be using the slim fast shakes!! I'd never thought about the screw too lids that's such a great point!!!

Wooo its all becoming so real.

My surgery is booked in Manchester at the Alex hospital (£950 cheaper than the Spire) with Prof Ammori. I'm having my pre-op and dietician visit til 4 days before the surgery and now I'm getting more and more nervous - hence awake at this time of night.

Its so good to hear from everyone

iMac what kind of WLS are you having? I may actually see you on the 7th?! I'm booked for a bypass with Proff A at the Alex also
 
I'm having the sleeve done - am due at the Alex for 12.00 on 7th and have pre op on tues 4th at 2.30 again at Alex. I went direct to prof ammori rather than through either hospita
So when /where are you going ? And where are you coming from ?

I live near Buxton and work in Droylsden so thankful don't have to travel far.
My pre-op isn't till the day before I.e the Thursday - I've not been given a time yet to go on the 7th. Not met any of the team other than the Proff but I believe from another Forum buddy who was sleeved there last week that the team are nice.
 
I live very near to the hospital - only a few miles away but I went to the Spire for my initial appt as the day was more convenient but since my pre op in on the Tuesday....two whole days before yours ..... I'll let you know !!!
I'm very similar for preop diet as I've got a cupboard full of Cambridge that will do for next week then the week after onto the liver reducing - but not a rice crispie in sight :)

Today I'm trying to gently allow my mindset to change from the panic eating of the last few weeks to calming down, accepting my choice, and feeling positive about what I'm doing and the results it will bring. I'm hoping now my mind will settle a bit. Bring on day 1 of the LSD!

same julie. although our wedding anniversay is just after my surgery and we had planned a meal out so were guna celebrate early and having a kid free night tonight. but tbh im quite looking forward to starting my diet monday coz its the start of the rest of my life and means im only 2 weeks away from surgery x
 
Today I've been using VLC food ie cambridge and I've had 2 rice cakes. I'm like a bear with a sore head so so grumpy and freezing cold.
Bring it on :)

I've just been reading on some other posts that Slimfast is too sweet/sugary post surgery and someone was dumping after it. 2 questions does dumping occur with the sleeve and what sort of protein/shakes did people get for post surgery ?

ow no. im not sure with the question as I wont be using any shakes as I hate milk. I think u can have soups and stuff though.
sorey uv got a sore head.hopefuly it will pass in a couple of days x

As far as I know you only get 'dumping ' with a bypass.
 
Well day 1 LSD almost over! I've forgot how hard a liquid diet is- god knows how I did it for months on end only to slap it all back on. Am realising how often I think about and seek out food! Plus how I can pop my little boys left overs into my mouth without even realising it! I had eaten a crust off his plate! #carbsarethedevilsfood

Aww good luck! It's so hard isn't it? But, all in a good cause, dig deep and focus on the goal :)
 
good luck. ill be with u tomo agh!. I totaly understand picking letfovers from kids plates. I dont even think.its like a reflex. my mum has sugested that the second theyve hae enough put washing up liqud on it.
I hope day 2 goes ok for u today x
