Oodles' Weekly Weigh In

Amazing things happened today!

1) I told my aunt who was dishing out the Sunday dinner no carbs. So had a plate of roast chicken (on the bone, I peeled off the skin which allowed me to leave some bits on the bone) and green veg. And I ate it all!! I did pause halfway through but I managed to clear a plate. Like I was able to eat a normal roast dinner with my family, even though the portion was considerably less than the others'. I feel so happy.

2) I needed to buy some new trousers as the ones I left here at Christmas are now too big. Went to next and didn't buy any, BUT I managed to get into a size 16! A 16!! I mean they were too small but I didn't have to breathe in or owt to do them up! I was also umming and aahing about some slim fit jeans (18). I thought they looked ok but I'm a wide leg girl and thought perhaps the mirrors are strategically flattering in next. So I didn't get them.

3) my mum's scales said 220 but I'm unsure if that's a true story. So not too excited about that.

What a fantastic day :)

Went last minute hol shopping tonight. Size 16 Evans wide length jeans, size 18 slouch work trousers, size 14 fat face hoody, size 20 primark hoody. Lol!

I love all those clothes companies sizing....! Lol.

I wish sizings were the same, no matter what shop you went to!

One of my aims is to be able to buy some clothes in Fat Face. Another is not to have to buy clothes in Evans. I hate buying clothes in Evans. I hate having to buy clothes because they fit and they will do, rather than because I like them!

Well done Ooodles on the decreasing clothes sizes!

I'd never even heard of Fat Face before yesterday. I'm a George kinda gal lol.

I gave up on Evans a while back. Fashion World has so much more variety and much prettier clothes. And Yours is great for bargains and basics. I find Evans so expensive and as they don't have a monopoly on the market anymore I'm not sure how they keep getting away with it!

I don't mind getting my jeans from there though. They're perfect - dark blue, wide leg. Same exact jeans I've been wearing for years but just in different sizes. Love em!!

Current faves are John Rocha and Mantaray, both Debenhams. John Rocha goes up to size 24 (tops fit me, rest doesn't!) and Mantaray goes up to size 26 (but larger sizes only found online so far!). But apart from that, yes I vote for Yours and JD Williams/Simply Be etc. etc. I find that Evans is all loud big prints and mainly in acrylic or polyester/ nylon!!!! Why do they think we want polyester!!!! And we don't all like big cerise flowers or diamontes on everything!!! Roll on the time that I can walk into Asda, or Fat Face and pick up what I want :)

Ooh not heard of that. What type of things do they do?

I'm an eBay fiend these days. Always auctions, max £3. I don't mind then if they don't fit. The only things I'm willing to pay more for are jeans and work trousers, because I need to try them on as my thighs are so flipping massive. And the hoodies yesterday were because I left mine at home. Argh!

My dad told me today he'd booked us exit row seats on the plane on the way back for extra leg room. Already I'm in a panic as the seats are narrower due to the TV and tray being built into the arm. I'm pretty sure I'll be ok in a regular seat but an extra narrow?! I have experienced trays in arms in business class on US airways for a work trip. My thighs were higher than the tray so I couldn't lay the tray flat to put the food on. I'm now really scared for the return journey :( if it fits ok that will be a massive NSV but I just don't know until I get in the seat.

I long for the days when I won't have to worry about this :(

I'll give a plane seat update on a regular economy tomorrow. I'll either be elated or feel like I've been slapped in the face. I've got my trusty extender in my secret handbag compartment!'

John Rocha, or RJR as I think they call it, is more sort of smarter stuff so it is great for me for work tops and also the dresses are nice as well. For some reason they seem to be cut the right way for me, which makes a change!

Mantaray is more casual, lots of t-shirts, tunic tops and dresses some with weird and whacky patterns, others floral. I have had a couple of nice cotton shirts from there recently that look lovely with jeans and a couple of cotton jumpers/long sleeved tops that have been good for work. They are not cheap, but it is hard for me to find things that I think are suitable for work so I don't mind paying if it is right. I think the shirts were around £30 each which isn't too bad.

Oh, I am with you there, I hate plane seats and seat belts! We have flights booked with EasyJet in the summer and we are in the exit rows - I have to lose weight as at the moment I would need a belt extender and you are not allowed them in the emergency exit row.

Are you sure that the tables are in the seat arms? On either Jet2 or EasyJet (cant remember which it was) the tables were separate in the overhead lockers and the air stewards got them down and fixed them in position when needed.

Well guys, living the American life!

The plane was totally fine. Lots of room and for the first time I had inches spare on the belt!!

Now to the eating.

My family had Burger King for breakfast at the airport... I bought myself a meal deal from boots and ate it with them. Fruit salad as a main and some shapers crisps for a snack. I then bought 2 graze boxes and 2 more packs of crisps for the plane, anticipating I wouldn't eat the main. I had said I was a vegan so I wouldn't get anything with cheese, so they brought me a bean salad with a bit of dressing (ate all that), then some gnocchi with a tomato thing on top. Ate the tomato thing and 4 pieces of gnocchi (never had it before). And a bite of the apple crumble for dessert. During the flight I ate both packs of crisps and half a graze box! *cries*

Then for the afternoon snack they brought us a chicken and bacon wrap, chocolate, crisps. I ate half the wrap and left the rest. Oh I also had a coffee and an orange juice. Totally would have gone over my cals that day! But it's a one off, right? I didn't eat anything after I got off the plane til the next day.

I had said beforehand I'm going to eat what I want here, but hopefully am not going mad. Yesterday was my real test.

We went to a breakfast buffet. I'll write down everything I had - I definitely didn't miss out!!

3/4 chicken nugget
1 piece of bacon
Spoonful of baked beans
Spoonful scrambled egg
1 cowboy chip
1 bite of a pancake with maple syrup
1 teaspoon of chocolate pudding
1 bite of sausage (was v greasy)
1 spoon of warm apple in some cinnamon syrup thing
And about 4 slices of melon
And a cube of jelly

Amazing. I just wanted a taste of everything and didn't feel like I over indulged, and I know my cals were bad and there was no protein, but hey ho.

We then went to Seaworld and I had 2 coffees (skinny).

Then we went to a gourmet burger place for dinner. I chose a cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce instead of bread with a side salad (no dressing). It was delicious! The burger came with mayo which I decided to scrape off. While I was at it I scraped off the plastic cheese as well. So I had the patty and the salad, which I thought was ok.

And today we're going to an art museum thing then for my photo with big bird!! No breakfast buffet today so I just had a fat free Greek yoghurt. I feel today will be a good eating day. Yay!

I must say though I feel totally different. I feel like a normal person. I bought some really bright lipstick at the airport and am obsessed with it. I have been wearing old fashioned sunglasses and yesterday felt really pretty. If ppl look at me I feel it's because perhaps I'm looking nice, rather than them judging me.

Oh dear... Eating yesterday was out of control! Had another buffet breakfast. Stuck to scrambled egg, 2 pieces of bacon, a bite of sausage, some baked beans. Then a plate of fruit. With my Spanx on I felt very full all day to the point of discomfort! Went to Outback for dinner and had about 5 petals of a blooming onion and then half a maki fillet and a serving of asparagus. Then about 4 cheesy poofs when we got back. Just the pure volume of food I think made me uncomfortable, even today.

So today I was much better. Greek yoghurt for brekkie, lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe which was a Caesar salad and grilled prawns. They were massive! I ate all six. And no dressing so it was essentially prawns and lettuce, which I was very happy with. But then later when my parents got cake I got a fruit plate (fresh melon, pineapple, orange and grapefruit) and managed about half but knew it was too much. Need to cut down on volume! Then for tea I had ham and strawberries with another handful of poofs in the evening. So apart from the poof issue today was much better but i just need to eat less.

I also dumped the other day after a nutty protein bar and had to go to bed at about 6pm for an hour or so. Not pleasant! I had bought 2 because I thought they'd be good to carry around with me, the cals and carbs were low, but obv too rich.

But the good news is I'm loving shopping and buying cheap clothes in normal outlets :) I'm a size 14 here which is nice!

Just need to keep an eye on volume but I think I'm doing ok so far :) tomorrow a lazy day with eating at the villa so I'll have full control. Apart from a few poofs cos I'm on holiday.

Very pleased to hear that the plane was a lot better than you thought it would be. Sounds like you are having a great time.

Thanks Hannah, yeah it's been great so far.

Lazy day today, good (kinda) food wise so far but a dinner buffet tonight! Yoghurt for breakfast and a tomato, bit of ham for lunch. However then I had 1/4 bagel with black cherry cream cheese. So utterly delicious and I wanted to eat some while I was here, which I did. I could have eaten the whole half but stopped myself. And then had a few pieces of spicy popcorn. My weigh in when I get back will be... Interesting!! This is utterly not the food I usually eat. I just have to hope the walking balances it out!

In massive news I bought two dresses today. One is bright orange and one bright yellow. And both marginally above the knee. I'll get a photo when I wear them later in the week. I am truly in love with them both, in fact I tried the orange one on on Sunday, loved it, but as it's so short I put it back. It was a TK Maxx type place so when I decided to go back and try it on today with tights on I was worried it wouldn't be there. But it was! I heard angels singing when I found it and I'm so in love with it. It's a dress I'll get altered as I shrink. But it's so brave for me to wear as it's so short. And the yellow one (same length) was just a bonus dress. It's such a huge step for me!!

I'll post a pic of me and my hero.
