Rake Lane/North Tyneside Update

Suzie I'm really struggling too with the amount & the stuff I need to eat.
I'm managing half a muller light in the morning (I've had my fill of Weetabix now lol) and maybe mash with mint sauce or gravy later on and a milky hot chocolate for bed.
I know I'm not getting anywhere near enough protein but I know I'll be fine with it once I move onto stage 3 and can have proper mince etc.
Have you had a sneaky weigh in this week yet? The scales have hardly budged but saying that I haven't been to the loo in over a week and somehow it's my TOTM again. I think my hormones must be wrecked. Are you OK with yours??
xx

Hi Louise it's a struggle with food I too can't wait to get onto stage 3 and have normal food :) I'm a serial weigher lol I weighed in today at 14.7 which I'm pleased with although I could fit into my size 20 pants before surgery now won't come no where near me, my belly is so swelled :( I'm still spotting but heavier which I think is due to the injections they give us. How are you feeling ? X x x

I didn't even think of the injections. Thanks hun that's probably it as I've been bleeding since the op on & off. Hopefully that should stop now as the dreaded needles have too.
My sneaky weigh in put me at 13st 7 but it's only to be expected when I've barely eaten & I'm sure I'm dehydrated. From today I'm going to have at least 1.5 litres if it kills me (which it might!!)
I've had some pretty horrendous stomach pains. Spoke to the nurse about it and it's to do with the different layers of stomach they cut through trying to mend. Apparently the most painful part is the gelatenous?? layer which is the fat and I've obviously got plenty of that. She said that with key hole surgery we often don't realise the extent of internal injury and so we underestimate recovery time, pain etc so just taken a step backwards & resting with a hot water bottle now.
Really glad you're doing well hun and you're back home & sorted. Your little girl must be loving being at home with her puppy again!!
xx

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha that made me giggle, so that's why were in so much pain lol. We are loving being home but it's alot for me as I have to do everything from walk the dog, dinners to bathing her. So feeling the strain but so worth it to be back home :) I've had to cover 2 scars as one my bra pulled the whole glue off lol and the other is leaking green (yuk) hows your scars healing? Hope your feeling pain free soon X x x

My scars are all OK. The nurse checked them for me when doing my bloods and they're dry and looking well apparently.
1 looks a little bit dodgy to me but as long as it's not oozing I'm OK.
I think I've gotten off lightly really as apart from the tummy pain I've been OK. I haven't been sick since the hospital (touch wood) and I expected toilet problems due to my bowel issue so no suprises there.
Are you planning on getting to any support groups hun?
xx

What kind of injections do you all get? I don't think I have to get injections..... Unless I missed something

Hi melani it's injections to thin your blood to decrease the chances of getting blood clots. We are giving 1 day before op to 10 days after you leave hospital. X

Hi everyone my bloody mother has past her cold onto me so I feel like c**p lol. Louise I'm hoping once I'm healed to get to freeman support group, and can't wait for that coffee wencho :) has the tiredness hit everyone yet ?, I feel so tired I could fall asleep on the spot lol hope every ones ok and can't believe were 2-3 weeks post op x x x

Just had my 6-8 week check up appointment through. It's 6th March so it's a while yet. Hopefully I'll have loads more questions by then do it's probably for the best it's delayed. It's at the Hunter hospital in Wallsend too which is a little bit nicer than dragging myself to Rake Lane.
Hope you're all well today ladies.
I've offered to pop into work tomorrow with my sicknote so they can all see how terribly ill I look and pity me lol!!
xx

my app is 13th of march or sumit.a thort it wud have been sooner than that...also thort it was ment 2 b a 6wk check...sure mine sed rake lane agen.....wil check the date n where tomorrow tho lol xx

Mines at 10.40 :) my wounds have been weeping they keep alternating which ones lol. As long as their not red and inflamed their ok. As soon as they turn red and inflamed you need antibiotics. My sisters a nurse and told me what to watch out for as I was not happy about one of my wounds leaking green, but my sister said that's ok too. X
