Exactly, Sam. Plus! If you didn't have the gallstones, you'd still be at the same weight (or more?) and still pursuing the same eating habits - which is why you are having the surgery - to stop them!

Good luck for tonight Rach, hope you get the answers that you want and can go away tomorrow without worrying too much and enjoy yourself! x

Hi Natalie, I should'nt worry because its right what Red and sam said, you will still have your weight problem if it was'nt for the Gallstones.x

Eeeeeek only 4 hours to go…:-/

xx

Good Luck Rach

WLW - did you ring up to see what your letter was for?

Thanks guys :D

WLW - did you ring up to see what your letter was for?

Hi, Sam,
Yes, I phoned and spoke to Lesley. I explained the situation - that I had been last week and the doc had asked me to ask for an appointment in 8 - 12 weeks. I said I wasn't sure about the letter I had received - I asked was it my pre-op appointment or was it for something else. She said it was for the appointment she had made for me last week. She said it would be my pre-op. But, that doesn't tie in with what Tes said last night. I've only got a single A4 letter - no forms. I'm not sure if I should have spoken to someone else. It will be interesting to see if Rach is told the same thing tonight. Oh, yeah, I also mentioned the 'cooling off period'., Lesley didn't seem like I was saying anything unusual.:confused::confused:

Hi sue I did'nt have any forms just one letter with two dates on. One for pre op and the other for pre op with Mr Youseff. x

Your pre op will tell you what it is and that you have to take meds and urine test, blah blah. x

I do hope it is your pre op Sue, I really do as its great to see people being progressed - but if it is, its seems odd that others who have been to hospital before you havent had their pre ops yet. I only went early Jan so not too far in front of you so that could be explained, but people like Lorna who went back in November still not had pre op appointments come through...

Also, your letter seems to be the same one as Rachael has received for her initial appointment which is tonight.

But I dont see how you can have your pre op tests when they dont know if you have funding. Other peoples pre op letters seem very detailed telling them they will have to have MRSA swabs taken etc...

I wish it wasnt so confusing

It does sound exactly the same as the one I had to go for the initial assessment - it really does seem like it's a duplicate appt. Maybe worth phoning Dr Hartland's secretary instead? Would be fab if your funding had been approved really quickly and they have got a pre-op out for you already though!!

The problem is, I don't know who to contact to ask. I'm not convinced it is the pre-op, from the letter, but Lesley said it was and the doc said last week that it would be and that there would be other people there to see me as well. He also said that after that appointment I would be no more than 18 weeks away from surgery. I wonder if it would be worth 'phoning Ana. I just want someone to tell me for sure what the appointment is for, but I don't know who to ask ???????????

That's a good idea, to 'phone Dr. Hartland's secretary. Thanks. I'll give her a call tomorrow.

I wonder it PALS would be able to advise?

good on you for phoning Sue, you are perfectly entitled to know what it is your appointment is for.

So I wonder if I will have to have a follow up appointment, and if so when I might receive it lol

I suppose as long as we are all on the journey it doesnt matter how we get to the destination as long as we get there.... I am SOOOO impatient though and I want my op NOW
