Gastric Balloon Any ballooners out there? Support needed!

Thanks ladies! I haven't had an episode today and it's almost bed time! Had a light Yakult today and some skim milk; I think I'm getting used to the liquids as I'm much less hungry than before. I'm going to try to do liquid as long as possible to capitalize on the weight loss. We are going to see the Rolling Stones in Abu Dhabi at the end of next month and my Stones shirt shows about an inch of my belly so I've got to be vigilant! Hoping to be bathing suit ready by the end April if all goes according to plan - a girl can dream, right?

How are you feeling now? Are u still on liquids? Hope all is well. Can't believe ur BMI is so low u really are getting their.

Hi, Mama! I'm doing ok... I didn't take the pain meds home from the hospital and I've been plagued with some pretty bad cramping, plus my period, and some constipation - so today I drove to the pharmacy and filled my pain meds :)

I'm still mostly on liquids. I added a 1/2 scoop of SlimFast to one of my milks yesterday and today and I had some Bolognaise last night (sauce only) and I'll have some more today. My appetite is pretty much gone for the time being so I'm enjoying that while it lasts. Tomorrow I start back with my personal trainer.

As of today I've lost 16 kilos (2.5 stones, 35 lbs) which is great for just over 3 months. If I lose another 10-12 kilos I'll be at goal with a BMI of 24. Just need to stay focused and work on toning up!

How's everyone else doing?

Do u feel the EUR4000 / 20000 dhs has been worth it so far?

It's less than 4,000 Euros - about 3,300. And YES, I do! I've lost a significant amount of weight without any/many adverse side effects. I'm learning what portions I should eat and my prior problem with snacking all day long is now non-existent. It's been hard work but I'm teaching myself (with the help of my dietitian) how to have a healthy relationship with food. I'm really happy with the balloon and hope to hit goal by June and then keep it in until October to keep me in check.

I ran a 5k race the week after I got my balloon. I got filled last week and I have a race tomorrow. It's no problem. You just need a week off, that's it. You can keep making excuses on why you can't do it now, or you can just get it done and start to make changes! You'll be fine!

One week into my fill and I'm losing well again! 3 kilos this week which is 6.6 lbs! Totally back on track!

Well done, Woody! That's a great loss! I've also got my surgeon and my dietitian on Tuesday so hope to lose another 1-3 lbs by then. Looks like we've gotten out of the Christmas food rut! My hubby is gone in the UK all week which makes dieting much easier for me!

I know what you mean its a lot easier when I'm just concentrating on me and not having to cater for hubby as well xx my hubby has decided it's not fair asking me to cook for him when I'm not eating it and also not fair buying munchies for him when I'm not allowed them so feel like a penny has dropped with him as well xx

Wow I can't believe u could run so soon after the balloon, it was really putting me off as I may be over weight but I love to run and would miss it terrible, I had read on another ballooners page that it was 8 whole weeks before she did any exercise, so glad that's not the case. Great news hubbys new passport has arrived :) yah I can start booking now.I sent some emails as I really want the Spatz and I can ring come Monday hope to be joining you guys on ur journey in early feb.

I'm not a fan of crisps or chocolate so I buy those in snack sizes for hubby's lunch, he gets a sandwich or leftovers. For brekkie I give him oatmeal or muesli with a banana. I cook dinner for both of us but make him a baked potato with turkey Bolognaise sauce on top, I just have the sauce. He's been really accommodating which is great. I gain weight just by looking at food so this isn't just for weight loss, it's for life. It's nice to have an understanding and encouraging counterpart, makes being hungry easier ;)

I've always been active and had only been overweight the last few years - I'd always had a bit extra but not much. I've run a few 1/2 marathons and more 5 and 10k's than I could count. This coming November we are running a full marathon in Greece - the original 26.2 miles from Marathon to Athens :) I think you need to look at fitness levels before balloon insertion - I was active and working out with a trainer 4-5 days a week already. Once the cramping stopped, I was back in the gym. Someone who hasn't exercised in years (or ever) isn't going to get a balloon and immediately be able to train. Also, remember that everyone is different. I've had a really good time of it with my balloon. Others aren't so lucky. My thought, even if it takes you a bit longer, missing one race isn't the end of the world. The lighter you are, the easier it is to run.

Fab news mamalicious where are u getting balloon fitted?
I was lucky enough to get it on the nhs. I'm not sure that I would have paid in hindsight but I have had a really bad time with it. It seems that people who have the Spatz 12 mth balloon seem to have an easier time. Not sure if that's true or just my observation.

I think so to 12 month all the way. I don't know who I'm getting it with I'm finding it hard to get someone who dose the 12 month one, had found one place but they rang to say they no longer do the 12 month one and now only offer the 6 month one.
