Gastric Balloon Any ballooners out there? Support needed!

So... Has anyone considered trying 5:2? My friend has lost 12 lbs in 4 weeks on it. She eats healthy 5 days a week and 500 calories 2 days a week. Wondering if that might give me a jump start. On another note, I tried on a bikini today and didn't throw up when I looked in the mirror!

I'd do something like that, you'd have to plan your 500 days well I would guess x

My friend eats a lot of lettuce, cucumbers, celery, etc. on her 500 days. You can do the 500 days together or at any time in the week. I'm going to start on Saturday and see what happens. I'm headed out to Abu Dhabi for the weekend with the hubby in two weeks and I really want to be 5-7 lbs lighter by then! Claire - Want to join me starting Saturday?

My mom hates my hair! Said I ruined her masterpiece! Haha!

Funnily enough I just posted my food on another thread so here it is:

Breakfast: Turkey sausage, eggs, veggies (spinach, onion, mushroom). Sometimes I'll do an egg scramble with some ham.

Lunch: Tuna fish with chopped cucumbers in it made with mustard instead of mayo. Grilled chicken with slices of tomato and cucumber. Turkey roll ups with a bit of low fat cream cheese and pickled banana peppers.

Dinner: Salmon filet with grilled asparagus. Filet mignon with spinach and mushrooms. Chili made with turkey and lots of veg (onions, peppers, mushrooms, beans, corn). Cajun prawns over salad. Miso soup and tuna sashimi. Lean sausage with sauerkraut. Basically protein and veg.

For snacks I'll have a Babybel or a pickled cucumber or a piece of ham or turkey.

I'll have to see how Saturday goes with the 500 calories. I've enlisted my husband (he only needs to lose 4 Kg's, tops) to join me. He'll probably do 3 protein shakes and a latte. I go batty on liquids so I'll probably do 0% Fage in the morning with some berries. A large green salad for lunch with a bit of tuna on it, no dressing. And either white fish or shrimp for dinner with asparagus or cucumbers. I think the key will be filling up on negative calorie foods. Fingers crossed!

Good luck neisie. I won't be joining you as I'm off to Edinburgh tomorrow for a long weekend. Booked into the witchery by the castle tomorrow night for dinner (so excited) then rugby Saturday (England v Scotland). Weather is gonna be wet and windy but it's not going to dampen our spirits. Will be keeping an eye on you all. Have a great weekend when it arrives
Xx

Jealous!!!! I've always wanted to go to Edinburgh. Have a fab time!

The witchery was amazing. We are a 5 minute walk from the castle. Dry but very cold. All set for rugby later. Neisie I love this city. You must come over one day you won't be disappointed xx

Hi banana90,
I've had my balloon in since end of October and I've lost just under 3 stone. It's not been easy as I've had my share of side effects. It has shown me how much I was over eating before and what my portion sizes should be.
There is loads of support and advice on here. Good luck in what ever you decide
Kismet x

Hi banana90

I've had my balloon since middle of November and I've lost 2 and a half stone. Like Kismett said it's not easy certainly at first whilst your body gets used to the balloon. My side effects are minimal now mostly just mild nausea and smelly burps. I have had mine put in prior to bariatric surgery to lose as much as I can prior to that to make the surgery safer. It's not been an easy journey so far but looking at the bigger picture it should be worth it. Mine is due out end of May. There are lots of stories of balloons not working but I think that's due to the person not using the balloon as a tool and thinking that it will be an easy solution. You have to work with the balloon and still diet and exercise so not a quick fix. Hope that helps

Woody xx

Hi Banana,

I had my balloon inserted mid-October. Like the other ladies, I'm down just about three stone. There's nothing to be afraid of, the procedure is easy and quick. I've had little to no side effects, even after getting my balloon filled. The only way "it won't work" is if you expect it to be a miracle cure and don't follow the plan. It's not easy. I eat small portions of healthy food, protein and veg based. Plus I workout with a trainer 4 times a week. The balloon is a tool to help facilitate weight loss, nothing more, nothing less. I love my balloon and am so happy that I did it.

So... For the last two days I've had the dreaded eggy burps and big, booming farts. Thank goodness my hubby left for business in Qatar today as I think he would've divorced me if he had to withstand another day of my gaseous explosions ;) Absolutely effing awful. I think it was some noodles we had at Wagamama - guess that's off the list :( Trying some soda water now to see if I can't rinse my balloon. Yuck!

You poor girl - eggy burps WTF, they have to be the worst thing ever, I have had them twice in my 43 years & it was AWFUL!
Hope your ok asap chick xx

Hey guys thanks for your responses I can't work out how to use this so sorry if I post in the wrong place! What balloon type did you go? The 6 months one or 12 months? Xx

This is the right place :) it's the most active balloon thread. I have the 12 month balloon, I believe that everyone else has the 6 month.

Yep I've had the 6 mth balloon.
Neisie ive gad terrible wind since having the balloon luckily my husband is very understanding lol. I have eggy burps most days seems random not able to pinpoint what causes it. I hate soda water so stuck really as fizzy pop bloats me out.
My husband has now been referred to bariatric surgeon now as well though he has been referred to Sunderland not Darlington like me. We live in the middle.
Hope everyone is ok xxx

Great news on your hubby being referred! I'm sure it'll be much easier for you if he's on the same path! I've still got the burps and farts. I'm pretty sure that I woke myself with a fart this morning - plus I accidentally let one go when I was working out with my trainer :( Holy embarrassing!!!! I'm going to do my first low cal day today (the 5:2 diet) so hopefully that'll sort things. I can't go on like this - it's awful. Just going to have 3 Atkins shakes which is 480 calories and a skinny latte when I'm at work. Hopefully I'll make it through the day! Hope everyone is doing well :)
