Gastric Balloon Any ballooners out there? Support needed!

Hey Kismet! So happy to hear that you've been feeling great!

Today I had a little non-scale victory... Went to run some errands before work and shot into H&M to see if I could find some lingerie and a bikini that would make my hubby happy and not make everyone else vomit in their mouths. Grabbed 3 sexy things in a large and a bikini in a large, knowing I'd have to go back for the bigger size. I DIDN'T! Everything I picked up fit like a dream :D Doesn't look especially smashing but I'm a work in progress, right?

bc = because

My foods that stick/rot/cause burps are lettuce/mushrooms/rice/pasta. If I avoid these, no burps. Water is important to rinse the balloon and help you to feel full - keep hydrated!
this is sooo helpful i need to pay more attention to what makes me burp more and have heartburn - thank you

regular posters - any idea why my first email, introducing myself (long) didn't go up and said need to be 'viewed by a moderator'? and if so when will it go up?
feel like i am intruding on your established conversation when i haven't introduced myself! sorry not being rude!

and banana - I won''t lie I was terrible at the beginning, didn't eat any solid food at all, just energy drinks and water for 10 days! lost 5 kg mind, so not soo bad!! but hey we forget the pain! I lost 11.5kg in 3 months, put on 4 now so need to get back on and retrain my eating habits...

Hi Bezzerb, what weight was your starting weight if you don't mind me asking?xx

No probs Banana. I had my balloon fitted on the 12th November. Initially I'm not going to lie it was very hard,I was vomiting continuously for the first few days and ended up with a traumatic laryngitis as the consultant wouldn't give me any sedation. I had mine done on the nhs. Mine is different to yours though I was loaded with 700 mls of fluid straight away and mine cannot get topped up. It's coming out the end of May and in having surgery hopefully July. Yours I believe they top up gradually so not as much of a shock to the system. Weight loss was rapid at first but has now slowed down. I now don't feel as nauseous but I do get smelly burps excessive wing and sometimes stomach cramps. Now I think I could over eat again and still have to be strict with myself. To be truthful not an easy journey but thinking of the bigger picture should be worth it. Hope I haven't scared you but you do deserve the truth and I'm sure with all your research you have picked up on these things anyway. Good luck with your journey xxx

Thank you! Can I be cheeky and ask your starting weight? & no as far as I know about the spatz is they fill it up to 70% of the stomach. And if I hit a standstill they will too it up at a charge of £750 ( which apparently isn't requested much?) I received all my meds today - it's getting real :-/ x

Woody - join me on 5:2. It's not easy, but it's only one day every so often so it's possible. I fast on Monday and Weds. This week I did Sunday, too as we are going out for French food (cream and butter) on Thursday and a brunch on Friday before the concert. Food and booze fest. But, in the two weeks I've done it, I'm down 6 lbs. I have a friend who does Mon and Weds with me and working together makes it easier. She's lost 5 lbs in two weeks. Banana - you'll be fine. I was scared, too. It was over in a flash. In the beginning there's a lot of puking but it gets better. I could over eat now but I know what is the right portion size. I've lost 40 lbs in 4 months and I'm thrilled with that. Exercise, for me, is a key part in weight loss and I do intense training (running, boxing, circuits) 4-5 times a week. My body hates to lose weight but I've stuck this out and the results are there. I'm so happy with how far I've come. You will be, too.

Wow! You sound very active..'! Right now all I can handle is 40 mins of light jogging! I really need to kick up my exercise. & you are looking amazzzzzing!! Xx

Hi guys, Sounds like you are all doing fine. I am now into my 2nd week and not been sick once....happy days. I too have slowed down with the weight loss but I think it's because I've been away and eaten too much rich foods. So I am back to being a bit more strict with myself. Can't see myself doing the 5:2 as I know I wouldn't continue and then would fall into the old trap of failing and putting weight back on. I now have a good grasp on what my body needs and I just have to knuckle down. Well done banana for booking your balloon. I echo what has been already said. My first 2 weeks were fine then the sickness started and I've only just stopped. Had mine in the end of October and had 550mls in the balloon. Mines 6 months so due out end of April. I've lost nearly 3 stone and I am really happy. Ask as many questions as you like as the more prepared you are the easier it is.

Thanks Kismet! Can I ask how much your starting weight was? And well done on the new you! Did you do change your fitness regime? As in add more exercise etc and if so what type xx

I had this problem before the site was experiencing problems so post may have been deleted possibly?

don't mind at all, 81.4kg, which i know may not seem that high for some, but for me, very small frame, it is huge! I am 5ft 6 or 7.

Hi all! I need some help.
I've had the reshape duo balloon in for about 8 weeks now. I'm learning how to live with it in there but I'm experiencing something new. I feel like everything I ate at lunch (about 5 hrs ago) is just sitting in a lump at the top of my stomach.
How should I help to move things along? It is very unpleasant!

Thank you!

Hi. Sounds like you ate too much. I've had that happen and I always end of getting sick the next morning. When you eat, remember to drink 15 min later to wash off your balloon. Sorry you're dealing with this :(

So as my initial intro disappeared here it is again - hope this one stays! I am in sYDNEY, had adjustable balloon 5 sept 2013, lost 11.5kg but put on 4kg in last month, purely due to greediness and over eating - i have started coping with the side effects and still eating regardless - thats smelly burps, constant diarrhoea, cramps and heart burn. My will power is questionable. Have joined in the hope it will motivate me! Neisie, your posts are great so i am reading with interest. love to hear from you. My sister lives in Dubai so i know it well.
about me... been pretty slim and active all my life then in last 5 years put on 20kg. was so mortified by it, on the outside very bubbly and sociable on the inside hate myself so had the balloon. TOLD NO ONE. no one still knows i just make up tummy upsets for the symptoms. it's been a very lonely journey so love to hear from others. I was 81.4kg to 70.6 now 74.4 want to get to, 65-68 kg. my doc said average is 10-15 kg. Already had one fill so at 800ml, allowed another 300ml. First 10 days were hell, in hospital ate zero for 10 entuire days, and very painful and then was great cut portion size, but its crept bck up.
So just started with a personal trainer on 1300- cals a day and writing everything down.
still had a piece of flapjack today. thats enough for me - do talk to me x
