So as my initial intro disappeared here it is again - hope this one stays! I am in sYDNEY, had adjustable balloon 5 sept 2013, lost 11.5kg but put on 4kg in last month, purely due to greediness and over eating - i have started coping with the side effects and still eating regardless - thats smelly burps, constant diarrhoea, cramps and heart burn. My will power is questionable. Have joined in the hope it will motivate me! Neisie, your posts are great so i am reading with interest. love to hear from you. My sister lives in Dubai so i know it well. about me... been pretty slim and active all my life then in last 5 years put on 20kg. was so mortified by it, on the outside very bubbly and sociable on the inside hate myself so had the balloon. TOLD NO ONE. no one still knows i just make up tummy upsets for the symptoms. it's been a very lonely journey so love to hear from others. I was 81.4kg to 70.6 now 74.4 want to get to, 65-68 kg. my doc said average is 10-15 kg. Already had one fill so at 800ml, allowed another 300ml. First 10 days were hell, in hospital ate zero for 10 entuire days, and very painful and then was great cut portion size, but its crept bck up. So just started with a personal trainer on 1300- cals a day and writing everything down. still had a piece of flapjack today. thats enough for me - do talk to me x
Hi Bezzerb, You've come to the right place! I think by posting on here we all get much needed help, advice, encouragement, and the occasional kick in the a$$. I also have a 12 month adjustable balloon, and I'm at 800 which is the max on mine.
You need to remember that the balloon is a tool, not a be-all, end-all to over eating. The balloon is there to give you burps and farts and all the other things that go with it as a signal that you've over done it. Listen to your body, listen to your balloon. You know what you're doing wrong, that's the first step. Now put down the fork, step out of the kitchen, and do what you know is right.
Are you with a dietitian? I hate mine (the skinny b*t@h), but she keeps me in line. I need to be held accountable for what I put in my mouth. She should set your foods, calories, etc.
Great news on the trainer. Just remember that your body is 80% made in the kitchen and only 20% made in the gym. No amount of working out can make up for a bad diet. I work out to feel good. Dieting makes you look good in clothes, working out makes you look good naked
Stay on here. Be honest with us and be honest with yourself. Might be time to do a few days of liquids and bring it back to the beginning. Remember why you are doing this. You have an amazing opportunity to make a beneficial change to your life and well-being, don't let it slip away. In the long scheme of things, a year isn't that long at all.
As for tracking, I love My Fitness Pal. I'd love to be your friend on there (and anyone else's). You can look at my food diaries, etc for ideas, portion sizes, etc. if I put my MFP name on here my post will get pulled down so just PM me if you'd like it.
