Gastric Balloon Any ballooners out there? Support needed!

Hallo!

New here! I read pretty much all 53 pages of this thread but apologise in advance if I'm asking questions which were already covered. :)

Have Spatz insertion scheduled for 19 March in Manchester - Banana, am a bit concerned that yours was without sedation as I was told I would be. Mine is scheduled for 6pm as well.

All: How was travelling after the procedure (especially those who didn't stay overnight)? How did you cope? Is it better to stay in town for another day?

That's it for now! Looking forward to sharing my experience with you all!

Hi eaglette, welcome to the gang. You will find ever provider is different with sedation and over night stays. I have the 6 month balloon. It was put in under full sedation and I stayed over night. Had a 4 hour car journey home the next day and I was fine. Ask as many questions as you like

Date fixed for having my balloon out. Will be the end of May. Can't believe it's coming round so soon. Would have had balloon for 7 months ( month over which consultant said was fine). Mixed emotions I have to say! How odd!?!?!?

Welcome! Don't worry about it every surgeon is different as the ladies have already mentioned. Xx feel free to ask us as much as you like.

Journey home was bit troublesome for me as I felt car sick. Take a pillow for the car, a hand fan if possible, wear loose clothes, and deffo ask for a sick pot before you leave the hospital. You will be fine. I promise you. I'm 5 days in so we will be together pretty much on this journey. Stock up on Ice lollies, ice cubes as you will be needing them first few days. X

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

I'm looking forward to being on this journey with you Banana90 and Mamalishious...and following in the footsteps of all you others. :)

Hey ladies. Got a telling off from the dietician today as I'm not paying 'attention' to them. They told me to try toast as I mentioned earlier but I haven't as I'm finding it difficult to keep liquids down. So I said I haven't tried and she was pretty annoyed at me?! But isn't it my body - I should listen to it? She said the cramping will stop once I've had some food. I've been liquids for last 5 days such as Actimel, Yakult, ice lollies, water, soup. And to be quite honest I'm not even hungry. Oh and another thing apparently 0 fizzy drinks allowed for the whole 12 months? What the actual ....?! I was told before I would be allowed to have some fizzy drinks like coke zero when it's flat?! She said no tonic water, no sparkling nothing. Were you guys told the same? I'm interested to hear if you had fizzy drinks what has happened after it? Obviously I mean one glass in a while. As my bday is soon and I thought I'd have a glass of flat coke you know as a treat. ( sound so sad lol)

Please tell me what else I could try other than toast / dry biscuit. I might attempt an scrambled egg today. Just can't be doing with eggy burps!

Welcome Eaglette! This is a great group!

Banana, listen to your body. Maybe chew the crap out of a cracker but toast still gets me sick. Damn burps. No fizzy stuff, it stretches your tummy and makes it harder to have restriction. When I've got eggy burps I have a bit of soda water to wash it off, but not normally. Get out of the habit. In regards to champers, I live in Dubai, and avoiding Möet and Veuve is impossible. But I never mix fizz with food. I made some Bolognaise sauce early in. Just had a bit and loved it. Worse comes to worse, you'll barf ;)

I'm much better, think my meds got my belly upset. No sickness today, just enjoying the beach :)

I imagine a cracker would be okay as you can get it to mush. Just remember to drink, wait 15 min, eat, wait 15 min, then drink.

My girlfriend is here from Norway and LOVING the weather. Finally took the plunge and I'm wearing a bikini in public (love my balloon)! Tonight I'm making filet mignon and asparagus before we head out to see Eric Clapton. Great weekend and it's only started!

Banana90 - with NOSC as well, so I'll check the sedation issue with them.

Neisie, I note your comment about not exercising too soon. Had a bit of a clash between finding a procedure date in the near future, and a pre-booked hot yoga weekend. The yoga weekend is a week and a half after the procedure. Sounds like it's not the best plan but can't move either. :S Will have to make the best of it...

Banana people react differently with balloon. I have been able to eat toast no problem from early on but it really fills me. Hope u egg the balance right soon. I have tried. Small amount of fizzy pop and wasn't too bad afterwards but I was also advised best not too as causes gas. Xx

I ran a 5K race a week after insertion. Everyone is different so you won't know until you get yours. I'm sure that you'll be fine 10 days out.
