Hey Yummy xxx
Counting cals helped me become mindful again and stopped me from eating in the old destructive way which is the key. However we achieve it, the best thing we can do for ourselves is be mindful of what we're eating.
Make good choices for our bodies , pay attention to how each food makes us feel, and are we actually paying full attention to it as we're eating in order to recognise when we're truly hungry and the physical hunger is satisfied etc.
Although I love sugar and starch foods, I know that I can't eat them and expect my body to release fat stores.
I also know that they make me crave more and feel tired and sluggish so I have to accept I can't "be good" all week and then come off completely and go nuts on the stuff I am triggered to overeat on the weekends.
There is an individual plan that works for each of us, I don't think we can all follow band guidelines without a bit of adjustment to make them work for our own particular weaknesses and preferences.
For my occasional treat, I'm going to go for a more natural higher carb, like a nice serving of roasties once in a while etc.
I think it's great to get ideas from each other but ultimately we must do what works for us personally and not be worried if it's not exactly the same as anyone else.
Whatever way we approach this has to be sustainable for the rest of our lives. If we think we are on a diet just til the weight comes off and then "back to normal" we are going to regain.
So however you can manage and whatever works and you feel happy doing , is the absolute best way for you x
