BANDERS UNITE ! Get to know each other chatter !

Hey Im back! earlier than expected due to my work colleague having an asthma attack - scary!

Ive had to eat:

Breakfast: scrambled egg and baked beans - at the hotel, managed about 2 tablespoons of each.

Lunch: in the car on the way home, starbucks venti (huge) skinny latte. Mmm love them, they are 168 calories with over 16g of protein and keep me going on the M1. Plus I picked at a skinny ginger muffin minus the icing on the top. I felt it sticking which is not good whilst driving so left half.

Got home, let the pooches out - lots of hugs with them then off to the gym. 3 miles on the treadmill - felt a bit dizzy and weak though.

Stopped off at Tecso on the way home and a starbar slipped into my basket (whoops) in my defense I didnt know they still did them so had to buy it!

Ha ha!!!

Rache glad your pooch is a bit better today.

Caz I go to slimming world with my OH to support him but dont do the diet. As Neen said its not really band friendly on green days. My OH does the extra easy plan which suits him, not that he is easy or anything you understand!

Neen do you buy your WW meals in bulk, I didnt realise there was that much variety with them. I used to love the salmon and broccoli mornay but I dont see it around anymore. The meals are the perfect size aren't they?

Hello everyone else x x x x

Just quickly linking you to the new salmon WW meal Mazza, I stock up when they are on offer as I find them easier in the week...specially as my kids are so picky, I end up cooking 3 or 4 different things for tea to feed everyone, so these help a lot for my dinner

Hope that's useful to you

Hey Sarah, I think the odd day isn't too much to worry about, because it's what we do the majority of the time that matters and it's unlikely you went too far over as you say x

I get really anxious when my boys play up, I feel like I have to always be preventing things from happening, and obviously a lot of times I can't but it doesn't stop me feeling bad about it.

Well done Kevin for logging today's meals, I really hope it's helping you feel more in control and also hope you are feeling better very soon !

Mazza, as I said above , there's often deals on in Tesco and probably other supermarkets as well, like buy 3 for £5 etc so when I see those I fill up the freezer as I am still really bad at judging what a proper portion is....I think my whole life I have never known what a proper size portion should look like!!

Thanks Neen it looks nice. We usually get a load of them from Iceland as they are always £1 there - limited selection though x x

How long would you wait after the operation before going to the gym?

How long for walking and hill walking on treadmill?
How long for cycling?
How long for cross trainer?
How long for weights

Everyone is different hun, it will probably depend on how active you were pre op too.

I was walking little and often as soon as I could, back at the gym and on the treadmill after 2 weeks.

Weights and the cross trainer are a different story, most providers will advise 6 weeks for these but to avoid stomach machines for even longer.

I only cycle on the spinning bikes and waited about 12 weeks until I did that.

Just remember you are not consuming many calories so go steady and listen to your body x

Thanks Hun, I think I will try and get some walking at the gym when I'm off liquids then see how I do xxx

 Wowsers! It's going to be quite dramatic for a bit and with going to slimming world later, hopefully you can keep any regains to a minimum x

That's the plan! Keep going forward and get the momentum going :)

Wow, 7lbs is amazing, well done. I only walked for the first few weeks.

My heartburn is still giving me gip :( i don't know if I'm eating too much, the food I'm eating is too rich or it's too much coffee or something entirely different. I think I'm going to take my plate to the hosp to see if my portion sizes are too large (it's the smallest size side plate I could find).

I've still not tried the slimfast even though it's in the cupboard. Oddly enough i haven't felt the need for an evening snack since buying it. I might try it for lunch tomorrow as I'm back to the dentist :(

Evening all and welcome all the new contributors. This is a quick post as I have not had my evening meal yet as I got home late from work. I just hope this does not become the norm although there are special circumstances and it is likely to be like this for the next 6 weeks:eek:.

Intake

Actimel
2 coffees
omelette with 3 turkey rashers
tuna a bit of low fat mayo and salad, 2 satsumas
chicken with vegetables

Still not drinking enough water.

Still have swollen legs and ankles:(.

tranquil x

I was walking two days post op, just half a mile and very slowly to begin with. Now try to do two miles a day if I can, don't beat myself up if I don't. Cycling I was advised by provider to wait until at least 6 weeks post op better still 12 weeks post op to give internal bits and bobs chance to really heal as it's such a core strength exercise.

Poor TB so difficult getting back into things, hope the swelling eases soon luv xx

Evening all. Today's menu comprised of:
Glass milk at breakfast - skimmed so 70 cals for 200ml
Fibre Cereal Bar - 116
Philadelphi light with breadsticks snackpot - 114
Small salad
Babybel light - 42
Special K bites - 99
2 salt n vinegar rice cakes - 60
W/W Sausage and Mash meal - 330
3 choc digestives - 252
Total for day - 1083 plus milk from 4 coffees so coming in at just under 1200 cals for the day.
Food is a little bit 'snacky' at the moment but that's mainly coz my hubby is away and I can't be bothered to cook too much just for one. He's back on Thursday at which point I'll be back to normal. I remember in the past when he's been away and I've used it as an excuse to absolutely pig out so I'm pleased that while he's been away this time I've managed to keep everything under control. I'm so happy with my new friend, bandy!
Going to talk to hubby when he gets back about us getting an exercise bike or similar as I'm still not doing any exercise. I am also going to have a trial session at a gym in a hotel opposite my office on Thursday and if that goes okay I might sign up. At least if I belong to that one I could go in my lunch hour which will mean it doesn't impact too much on my valuable evenings!
Hope you are all well, night all x

Right then....... rest of my day went as follows. I have all my excuses ready btw

Had my lovely salady for lunch and a small apple

afternoon snack was two shortbread fingers
