BANDERS UNITE ! Get to know each other chatter !

Hi everyone - Hope your enjoying the weekend!

Having a battle with food at the moment. As Mazza said earlier about portion sizes (plates), mine have increased again in size. Tried to cut back last couple of days, but the hunger monster appears; and I start looking around for something else to eat.

I was very bad on Wednesday evening as it was my day off, went to local shop to do the lotto, then came back with 2 chocolate bars (crunchie and topic). Loved eating them; but Oooh the guilt after!

Why did I have to be so stupid and undisciplined?
I really feel as I need more restriction now. The past month my food has gradually increased, albeit healthy enough choices, but occasionally too much carbs which I should`nt be having.

Thankfully I have a fill on Wednesday. I will take it from there and hope with my new fill, that it will get me back on the straight and narrow.

Mazza, Neen, Tranquil, Sarah and Julie as well as all the other banders thanks for keeping going on this thread, because it does help me and the new banders out there see that when and if there are problems - you give immense support. As well as showing us that even if there are no problems for you; that we have something to aim for.

To be honest I had got a bit fed up with the site at times; and did`t care too much for the comments, but as long as your still here it makes it easier for me to log in.

Take care all x

Love Kat x

Jo it is very important to follow the advise given to you by your provider as to the early stages - and the advice differs! I assume you are at the liquid stage and as long as your soup has no bits and is not thick then it should be fine. Same for the options drink. You need to stay hydrated so try and take in as much water as you can.

I have noticed this weekend I keep getting hit by waves of tiredness, is this normal? It's like suddenly I'm fighting to just take a step.

Evening all, Caz I felt wiped out for about 2 weeks, I would have a good day then be exhausted the next. Even though it's keyhole surgery which isn't as intense as the other, we've still been through a lot, so don't worry and use it as an excuse to put your feet up :)

Jo, I'm sure it'll be fine (I had sloppy weetabix the morning after my op as I was so hungry, I did ask my consultant if it was ok). What is your post op diet?

Kat, I hope your fill goes ok on Wed, and you get a decent restriction.

I've had a lovely day, met up with a friend for coffee at softplay, then went into Stirling shopping (isn't Evans getting very expensive?).

I've eaten:
3tlbspn cereal
coronation chicken and a couple of spoons of jacket potato
icecream
tuna, humous and salad
cereal

Back on plan tomorrow xx

I think bio oil is great for stretch marks Caroline xxx
Thing is, because we have all got so much weight to lose, some loose skin is going to happen to varying degrees (depending on genetics, age etc)
We would have the same problem without surgery anyway because we have so much weight to lose.
I think as we are losing at a slower rate (compared to bypassers) a plus side is the loose skin and hair loss isn't such a big problem for us.
Exercise is a good help as it tones us up and improves the general look of things. I think if it's super bad we can apply for help with the NHS but I don't mind a bit of loose skin, small price to pay for a longer happier life x

Thanks Hun, great advice yet again :) I am going to stock up on the bio oil!! If I get through all of this I hope to be able to show off my hard work haha :)

My 'full' receptor seems to be broken :(
Cant wait to get to hosp to speak to dietician and psychologist.
Glands up in neck again too, dont need more illness.

Here's to a successful and losing week everyone :) xxx

I've prepped my lunch for tomorrow to take to work, and I treated myself to some lovely looking 'count on us' meals from M&S for evening meals as of tomorrow, I'm determined to get back on the downwards straight! Hope everyone's had a good weekend and good luck for the coming week. xx

Hi All

Hope you all had a good day and are feeling positive.

I have almost got over my surprise fill on Thursday and was on mushy food today. I have had a yogurt, a chunky soup and a fish pie. I couldn't finish the fish pie - I could have stopped at half way through but pushed on until I had eating three quarters. I wish I could understand why leaving food on a plate is such a big deal for me. Oh well, at least I did stop and have stayed feeling quite full all evening.

Here's to a good week ahead for us all.

It feels so unnatural doesn't it? I am using a really small bowl and plate and teaspoon to eat with, serving a tiny amount then having more later if I'm hungry and that seems to be working. I did have a bad eyes bigger than belly moment tuesday but felt so full that luckily I don't want to risk it again!

I'm also struggling with my eyes being bigger than my belly at the minute. My diet sheet says not to have more than 4/5 desert spoons of food on your plate otherwise you eat more, I'm going to try and stick to that, especially now whilst my restriction is so good.

Breakfast: Milky coffee 90 cals
3tblspn fruit n fibre 140

Sipping on a pint of nas cordial

Lunch: Chickpea and veg soup 150 cals

Snack(I was v. hungry): 1 breadstick and some humous 75

Latte 80 = 435

Weeble and Caroline, I know how you feel about "wasting" food.
Really the best thing is to only serve out a quarter of what you normally would because you can always go get more if you really need it.
I have a food compost bin in the kitchen, some councils now do food waste recycling.
Knowing that scraps are going to be made into compost helps a bit too.... also if you think about it, food is wasted as soon as you put it on your plate. You're not likely to serve it to someone else are you? If you think about it properly.
I am trying to make a big effort to cook less in the first place to avoid the guilty "ooh I'm wasting it" issue !
Also, I started by putting cling film or foil on what I didn't have so it didn't feel like a waste and I could go back to it later which got rid of that awful force feeding you feel compelled to do.
Happily , having done that , I hardly ever have been back to eat up my leftovers, but instead chucked them away without that guilt feeling haunting me.
Hope this helps x
