I had my surgery the day after you and i have to do liquids for 4 weeks! then 2 weeks puree and then 2 weeks mash, i think 18th march i can have "normal food" that's my birthday so i shall celebrate with something nice like a crispbread lol.
Lol! I'm day 9 post op and have to be on liquids for 2 weeks then soft food (food you can cut with a fork) for 2 weeks then onto "normal food" but before I get to normal food I'm booked in for a band fill so I'll be 3 days liquid, 3 days soft then finally "normal food"!! Roll on 24th Feb!!

Hello all. Hope everyone is well today. I really hate the purée stage:sigh:. Liquids are just about doable but mushy food stage makes me feel like not eating at all. I am using my slow cooker for the first time - having purchased it last October:rolleyes:. I have put in some steak and kidney and loads of vegetables and hope it cooks down soft enough so that I do not have to blend it down into something unrecognisable. I was thinking today how did I manage this stage so long last time and what on earth did I eat!

I will perserve - it will be worth it in the end. I must admit having given up cooking when Mr TB came into my life and decided he would take over the role as head cook, it has been nice to get into cooking again. At the moment it has meant cooking separate meals but at least with this meal we can eat the same thing. I am looking forward to experimenting when I get back onto solids. I have a few cookbooks and I am going to use the time I have before I go back to work to try out a few things. Meals cooked from scratch are so much nicer but they take time which is hard when working full time.

Anyway enough rambling from me:D.

Morning all. Marie I will let you know when I get my letter - hopefully it will turn up today.

Marie, I got my letter today but I have been given 18 March for my next appointment. I rang and was told the 11 March clinic is full and that if I have to be seen on 11 March I have to contact Lesley Hannon. As usual when you ring the number it rings out without being answered. I will try again tomorrow but I am not holding out much hope.

How are you doing?

Enjoy your slow cooked meal TB, I use mine quite a lot nowadays. I used it to cook a joint of Lamb last week, recipe supplied by Shel :D and it was absolutely beautiful! XX

I'm so glad to see you back Kelly! All done as well ! Hope you are managing OK.
I'm sorry I haven't been about much all, had my sons ill this week and one still at home off school.
Got on OK at the opticians...I still look like a little barrel but not the biggest bowling down the street anymore. That doesn't half boost my confidence !

I am trying to follow an eating plan, sort of know the calories I'm having with what I have chosen so hopefully will not have to resort to writing it all down again.

What's everyone's New Year health job then? eg one or two things you can easily manage consistantly that will help you lose weight and feel better.
Mine are to walk 45 minutes a day and drink 3 to 4 litres of water daily. Oh and not eat after 8pm.
I think small tweaks , not extremes, get good results.

Good plan Nina :D I always have to eat after 8pm, if I dont my blood sugars drop too low overnight and make me feel a bit orrible!
My New Year plan is just to try and make good choices with food as much as possible and Im doing pretty well so far...Take care hun , hope the boys are over their illness. So many colds and bugs around at the moment. :D XX

Morning all. Good to see you Neen - hope the boys are well soon. Well the slow cooker was brilliant. The meat melted like butter. Going to try chicken it it today.

Hope everyone is well.

Cheers Jacqui xxx TB you're tempting me to buy a slow cooker!! I have been eyeing one for a while but I think Dean might enforce a ban on any more kitchen gadgets...I am a devil for getting contraptions for my kitchen!
Still it does sound awesome!!
I just got a new PC so I think I already used up my birthday/mothers day/Christmas/Valentines allowance for the next year or so!

Lol Nina, they are extremely good though :D The meat literally falls apart and not dry atall ;) Go on ....you know you wanna :D Actually you can get them really cheap now....I got mine off Amazon and Im sure it was only £20....bargain :D XX

They really are worth thinking about. I got a good deal on mine from Amazon. The downside of it is that it doesn't have a timer but when I go back to work I am going to get one of those plug timer things that will switch it on and off. The one I bought is also far too big you could get a large chicken into it and have room to spare. All that said I was amazed at how tender it made the meat and it was just nice to eat food that did not look or smell like baby food:D. I paid about £25 for mine - but you can get them very cheaply.

I've seen one for £34 that's got lots of good reviews. I might see if I can twist Deans arm as it would save buying ready meals so much maybe.

It will and at least you know what is going into it. I prepared my steak and kidney the night before and so it had time to soak in all the flavours. Once it is in the pot you can leave it until near the end of cooking time if you want to add anything to thicken it etc. Really quick and easy!
