Cheers TB & Julie! I think that it would be a good investment when we have some spare dosh then x

I've been considering a slow cooker for about 9 months lol. Even picked one up to purchase it then put it back down because it was too heavy lol.

I think they're a really good idea. Morrisons/Tesco have 3litre ones for £15/20 - at one point they were £10. Sainsbury's have them on sale too.
I'm thinking of getting a titchy l litre one for £10 from Asda or Tesco - when I finally get around to it.

Hi ladies, I agree that the slow cooker is one of the best purchases I made. You don't need to have a timer because the gravy doesn't dry out if it's on the low setting. It also means that your meal is ready to eat when you get in. You can often get recipe books for slow cookers from bargain bookshops. However, I find that I can cook any of my meat ones in it. Veg need to be cut up smaller so that they cook alright.

What's everyone's New Year health job then? eg one or two things you can easily manage consistantly that will help you lose weight and feel better.
Mine are to walk 45 minutes a day and drink 3 to 4 litres of water daily. Oh and not eat after 8pm.
I think small tweaks , not extremes, get good results.[/QUOTE]

Hi Neen, well done for making the commitment to exercise. Mine is to exercise for a minimum of half an hour 3x a week. At present I'm doint yoga on a Monday, aqua aerobics on a Tuesday and aerobics and Zumba with the girls on Wednesday. I'm also trying to walk the girls to school at least once a week. This week I haven't done the walking or aerobics/zumba as the girls have been off school with vomiting since Tuesday evening.

love

It took me months to use mine and to be honest I thought it would sit in the box forever. It has been great using it. Did some chicken in it for today's main meal and it was so soft - it was lovely. It is helping me get through the purée stage. I mash the meat and vegetable in with the gravy the meat has cooked in and it is as good as if I had blended it. So much more palatable:D.

I am thinking of giving quorn a try. I keep thinking about how it was years ago but wonder if it has improved? What sort of dishes do you make with it?

Probably everything you would use chicken or minced beef in hun.

The chunks (chicken style) in stir frys or currys. The mince in bolognese or chilli. Its so low in fat - much much lower than extra lean beef. My daughter has never had any meat other than chicken and spag bol (with quorn) is her favourite dinner x

Thanks Mazza, I think I will buy some at the weekend and give it a try - I will not let Mr TB know and see if he notices any difference:D.

I liked beef syle quorn strips in a stir fry I made a while ago. Texture wasn't too bad. I think it's got better.

That sounds tasty. Might give that a try too. Mr TB is feeling a bit redundant because I have got the cooking bug. May have to let him have the kitchen back - for a short time:D.

To be honest Neen the range has got much much bigger which is excellent but the stuff they have always done I dont think has changed. No doubt about it although I havent eaten meat for 22 years it does taste different x

TB my youngest 6ft 6 meat eating brother loves my quorn chilli - so give it a try x

I bought some Quorn mince a few weeks ago to try a spag bol with it, its in the freezer and I forgot all about it lol....I will try it soon and let you know what I think :D XX

Just remember it doesnt really taste of anything so the more herbs and spices plus other ingredients you add the better it will taste ;) x
