December 2014 Surgeries

Thanks. Just seen on the news that hundreds of ops getting cancelled due to beds so not looking great. :(

Awful. It really messes with the mind no matter which procedure.

Congrats Marcus. Seems to be everywhere, glad I was done last week as those for this week in my area are also cancelled due to no beds :(
One week post op and dismayed to hop on scale and see 3lb loss!
Hope its more next week! Love to all xxx

At least Netflix works on the hospital wifi. Catching up with Orange is the new black.

I'm confident I'll be out tomorrow or it will mean an extra night I really can't afford. They're monitoring my drain levels and that seems to be the decisive factor.

How are the banders doing? I am 2 days post op, still not drinking a lot... Wind cramps take some getting used to.. But it's not all that painful.. I need to start a diary I think..... Just to monitor my food intake... What's this app people keep taking about? Xx

I know that one. Still no water allowed so wind is another chapter away. But the pain from trapped wind can be agony. I was misdiagnosed with costochondritis due to the extent of the pain.

Just weighed myself. Am feeling so happy right now. I've not gone below 150kg since 2010 (I was 20) despite diet & exercise, I was always stuck above. I'm now 149.4kg = 23.5stone. Am over the moon. Seeing the scale below 150kg was like a dream to me. It has happened. I am so grateful to this wonderful tool that has been given to me. Onwards and downwards she goes!

Congrats! That's a major milestone.

I see we started around the same weight. So we have a long journey ahead of us, but you are well on your way.

Up early, very little sleep last night. I have a 7:30am admission today so just getting ready to head to the hospital. Glad it's happening after so many set backs.

Few more hours and will be all done :)

Best of luck.

I've been awake all night after being in and out of sleep after my bypass yesterday.

Great stuff mighty all the best with mr Ninja x

Hehe thanks, just in the admissions lounge, I've been told I'm second in, so should be in around 11am

I was third in at the same time and everything went great. Let me be a good luck charm :)

Just waiting for a yoghurt before being discharged. Told it was a 90 minute operation with a larger than normal pouch but 220cm malabsorption to counter it. This was due to a band migration that damaged my stomach limiting surgical options.

I guess this means I might need to be extra rigorous with protein, vitamins and minerals. Told to stick to liquids/soup/yoghurt for three days before moving on to puréed foods. Otherwise the operation went well apart from some muscle cutting on my left abdomen which will take some time to heal.
