February 2014 Surgeries

Your post op food amazes me and yes am a little envious too. I would be do scared to try anything sweet though, dumping does sound horrid so kudos to you for your bravery with the Nutella albeit a tiny amount. Xx

I was expecting to be in heaven with the Nutella , but actually I winced with the sweetness. Not something I will be craving anymore :( too sickly. So that's good :)

Good for you Ali! I can't stand the thought of sweet things either now - can't even drink full strength juice. I do hope it continues though - must have had my share of Lindt chocolate balls to last a lifetime with my past chocolate binges!!

I don't want to wish life away but I just want to fast forward 3 months. I feel like I've had my bypass ages ago now but it's only been 17 days and I don't feel like much has changed for me body wise. Xx

Just checking in and - oh the talk of food in here.

You're giving me a Homer Simpson moment...Mmmmm pancakes with Nutella...drool.

Doing good and almost pain free, had staples out yesterday which has helped - The port wound doesn't feel so bad anymore. Made fish soup yesterday as well and wizzed it to death then strained it and threw out the pulp - tasted far superior to Slim-Fast as, never really having a sweet tooth before, I'm struggling as everything they are telling me to eat seems sweet (slim fast, yoghurt etc).

Don't feel hungry as much as feeling empty. It feels physical as opposed to my head saying - EAT! Also saw dietician yesterday who was really pleased with my weight loss so far and was happy with what I was doing post op so, all is good.

I go back and see her in a fortnight to go through the pulp/puree stage with me and then see the doc a week later for check up and possible band fill.

Hope you are all doing well and recovering well xxx

BY the way...is anyone getting looks yet?

I took a slow walk to pick the kids up yesterday and got a few looks from some of the other mums. One was quite overtly questioning!

Obviously I wasn't around much last week because of surgery, the week before was half term. I've lost 17lbs over the three week period and I am getting looks.

It's weird because, well, being a fatty I tended not to get looks from anyone at all - ever. Although I'm not ashamed of having the band, I'm not that OK with explaining it to school gate mums who I'm only acquaintances with.

What would or do you say about your own weight loss to people who are not friends??

The thing s Hun to take each day as a new step. Don't get stressed about it, let it flow :)

wise words ali :) Its a good lesson to learn, i think understanding the body takes a while to get used to tho. I'm just so chuffed for you that's all come good in the end, thinking back just a few weeks ago not knowing if it would even go ahead. I admire you determination, your on of lifes fighters and achievers :)

georgie lol @ strop not sure i could do liquid for 4 weeks my mouth is just itching to chew now. Homemade soups with added Philadelphia was my savior.

Badito glad dietician happy with you :) my first appointment next week eeek im sure i've done ok :)

Re the looks, i dont know many people where i live so not had any. but can imagine at the school gates talk will be interesting, if it were me id stick my nose in the air and enjoy the attention LOL someone soon will have to ask :)

People have started to notice I've lost weight as my work uniform is getting too big. Was asked on Monday how I've lost weight and just said I've cut out the rubbish and eating smaller portions. Not a lie is it?

Yep agreed :D Some people act oddly about it all tho.... everyone i know pretty much knew 3 years ago, but didn't re open the subject pre op. Thought i'd cross the bridge when it came. Last week in town hubby saw one of my friends who asked where i was he said at home recouping and shes been tippy toeing around me since LOL

At the end of the day its our business and to be honest the reason I didn't tell anyone pre op was the fact that I didn't want negative comments from people who know nothing but think they know it all. I wanted to stay positive and not have to justify my actions to others. Same applies post op too. Its nice having our secret. X

Thanks Ali for your wise words as usual :)

I haven't had any looks either but I'm not back at work now until 17th March. Could slap myself for taking so much time now as I didn't know what to expect and told a little lie about my leave about my family visiting so can hardly say they went home early.

Well done though on baggy uniforms and the beady eyes of the school mums!

The only person that knows is my hubby. And you lot! I have told people a month before op that I'm following a GP diet whereby I eat small and often with low fat and very low carbs. No questions so far and sets the way for future as to how I want to eat without the need for further interrogation!! Xx

Xx

This was my reasons exactly! Negativity from others and opinions I actually didn't care for. X

hi febber not been about for few weeks instead of reading all posts just hope everyone who opped is doing well and on the road to recovery with best wishes

Saw my gp today n he was pleased with my progress but said it will take me months to build up my stamina again after having such a rough ride for over two years. He was shocked by what they found inside me during my operation. His words were "deeply shocked and horrified". O well onwards n upwards :)
