February 2015 Surgeries

I will weight myself once I start to feel better, this is just ' being sick' stage for me. I felt my jeans were a bit loose but tummy still gets swollen so I can be seeing around with belt and zip undone!

Keep up the good work and update us with your good news.

Great going Siana...

Pain is... Weakness leaving the body... Cheers and Regards... Kaps

Hi everyone

Sounds like it been quite a journey for us all, I am currently on day 17 and sadly still on fluids. I was taken back into hospital as I developed a pain in my upper right abdomen area. Had a CT scan and turns out I have a PVT due to the surgeon using the retractor on the liver? So now on 6 week course of blood thinner injections and having to stay on fluids for a little longer. There seems to be a few hurdles to get over but I think once we have got over them we will be off lol

Hope your not in to much pain, but like you say once you get all the niggels out the way you will be on your way.:)

Hi guys!

How is everyone doing? 3 weeks post op for me and so far been good apart from gas pain! Weight loss is 19lb since op!

Lynne

I'm doing well, 11 days post op, drinking loads 2.5l a day and 60g of protein! Took plasters of on Monday and everything was fine, stitches healing nicely.
Hoes everyone else doing?

Hi Sherlock, so sorry to hear about you problem. How could the surgeon make such a mistake! Wish you a speedy recovery.

Lynne, good weight loss. Well done!

I felt much better today ( 1 week since surgery). Still have pain now and then, but laying in bed just now....relatively pain free...realised something was missing. Those thoughts I would have every night, about things I have eaten that should not have over the day, how full and fat I feel.... how I failed again.

Amazing! I am getting free of those.

Hey all... Great to hear of your recovery Tules...

Lynn congrats on your success and wish you become a big loser...

My weight stuck for the last one week or so. Even I am at 19-20 lb loss..

Happy losing to all...

Hi All

It sounds line we have all been through the mill so to speak.

I am still in hospital two weeks since my op tomorrow. Have MRSA and cellulitis which is having major IV antibiotics thrown at it. Am regretting having op at moment so far from home and hubby's mum died last week so he hasn't been able to stay the whole time. All clips out, have one open wound draining into bag (not nice)

I am on puréed food in here (countess of Chester) must say really enjoying it, don't know if I have restriction as only small portions and pain all over tummy anyway.

Thanks for your support ladies it means a lot.

I feel more swollen than when I came in!!

Alison sorry to here about you loss and the rough recovery just take your time I know you are not in controls at the moment but just take it easy there is no rush. You will start yo feel better once you get home but it sounds like your I be right place at the moment so be guided by that. I think we all feel like why gave we done this , obviously you have more issues then normal but it will be ok in the end. :) take advantage of all the rest your getting and no responsibilities at the moment after all the dust will still be there when you get home so there's no rush, you'll be back home soon :)

Oh Alison, I am so sorry. It must be very hard for you and I understand how you feel about the operation, how unlucky.
I really hope you will get better soon; and put this bad experience behind you.
It will be all with it at the end, sending you best wishes
X

Feeling improved today, talking about home Thursday so that's good. Enjoyed my puréed food today. Things are looking up x. Hope you have all had a good day x

Have to say that at the end of last week I thought I was going backwards, pain, feeling sick etc. Because of the post op bleed have been off work for nearly 4 weeks (extremely painful) and really couldn't envisage getting back any time soon (and I'm not a wuss) Started monitoring temperature and saw that it was creeping up, went to see GP who was very interested (and not judgemental) about my surgery, why, how etc and prescribed antibiotics in case of sub acute infection. And voila! Within 48 hours I felt completely different and now even considering going back to work later this week! Feel great, on puree stage (bleugh) and can't wait for the soft food stage starting on Thursday. My saviour has been Nectar whey isolate protein drinks, taste like juice/squash but 20g protein, nil fat or carbs per serving. Expensive but I wasn't managing anything near what I should so worth it for me. Had a little clear out of my wardrobe too, charity shop will be getting lots of big lady clothes as I have dropped two dress sizes, resisting the urge to shop as want to lose a bit more.....all I all, things are looking up, feeling optimistic for the first time in ages

Ooh I must try that! I love almond milk but found coconut and rice milk in a health food shop, whizz that up with Nectar pink grapefruit and some frozen berries/mango.....very tropical and the texture of ice cream!

Siana and Alison, really pleased you guys are feeling better.
I am feeling better too. Had taken the plaster. Off on Sunday but felt very faint just seeing the cuts - plasters back on.

Siana, 2 sizes down! Well done. I went through my wardrobe and happy to hang back those dresses that I could not fit anymore. " I will wear you soon"
I have not weight myself yet - but do feel jeans a bit looser. Oh the joy of feeling smaller!
