February 2015 Surgeries

Hi all

Still here in hosp. Having my IV antibiotics x loads. Feeling so much better in myself though and still on plan for home tomorrow. All clips out now, one wound draining pus into like a drainage bag.

I will be so happy to get home to my family and friends - in hindsight was a long way to come but I did it for the best reasons.

Anyway we are all on the road to healthier lives xx take care February team - sounds like you are all doing great.

Ok, so went back to work today in skinnier trousers, nice top etc and waited all day for someone to comment eg ooh you look nice/have you lost weight....
But nothing. I have lost over two stone since beginning of LSD, been away from work for 3 weeks and not one person has noticed any difference in me. Am I that large that two stone gone has made no discernable difference to other people? Having a real introspective moment....not enjoying it at all......

When I started to loose weight with Lighter Life, people noticed after 2 stones. They either did not want to ask or really did not notice my weight as much as I did.

I am sure you look fantastic Siana, I also remember with being annoyed with a "friend" not saying anything after all the weight I lost.
How do you feel in yourself? That's most important.
I would like to congratulate you in amazing weight loss, already. Well done girl!

Thing is, I know I'm being silly! I haven't told anyone about the surgery, took leave for it but the bleed meant I had to say something so I said I had routine op/ laparoscopy. Today someone said "we were wondering whether you'd had a gastric band.....". Really peed me off, I just said "if I had it would be very personal and not to be gossiped about". I guess I feel embarrassed that I couldn't lose weight "normally", my head's a shed today....must get a grip!

I know what you mean, it is a personal matter. Personally I don't give a darn about what people think so have told many people. I had problem with my weight and took matters to hand.

Don't focus on them - not worth it. Instead start enjoying the beginning of new you.

Good news is, on soft food and just had delicious cottage pie while watching Masterchef with my feet up....every cloud and all that..

I'm afraid it's a bit like a hair cut, you feel great but no one says anything so it takes the shine of the new hair style. Them someone will say I thought there was something different about you. You will properly find you have lost weight evenly all,over and that's why they can't see it, if it was of you boobs or bum they would see it but if it's all over it would make a difference. So don't get disheartened you know you've lost it even though it's nice for people to say something, just keep,at it

Well they have decided they want to keep me in for a few more days. Having repeat ct scan and picc line inserted tomorrow hopefully. Had three different cannulas last night veins now officially rubbish!

Had a good cry now resigned.

On a positive note hubby has come back up for a few days in the travel lodge and daughter drive to see me after work today. Took her 3 hours bless her.

Keep me posted with your need ladies it's like a little lifeline xx

Hey all.. Long time. Good to know that all of us are doing great. Siana
....people are jealous of your loss and therefore they don't compliment you. I am sure the skinnier trouser and the top would have looked great. As long as your mirror, trousers and belts tell you that you are on your downward journey its good.

Lynn and I have now crossed the 4-week mark and doing fine. Am down 5 inches around the waist and 20 lbs.

Compared to your woes I now feel such a bloody self obsessed wuss! :wave_cry:I really need to get a grip and some perspective. Even though I know intellectually how much excess weight affects you psychologically, I have been unprepared for the emotional rollercoaster of this surgery, I have changed from a capable woman to a wimp in a few short weeks, I'm hoping my strength will return with every pound lost!

Really feel for you , I only had a post op bleed and that was bad enough. Hope you start to feel stronger soon xx

Girls....yes this is an emotional roller coaster...I think our hormones are actually affected by the surgery...it takes months to get back to normal. (Chin up) you are all doing great xx

Hello I had a mini bypass (revision from a slipped gastric band) on feb 13th in Belgium. I am only weighing once a month and lost 1 St 9lbs this month (inc 1 week pre op diet) from 14.7 St to 12.12 St.
Healed well, but suffering from very slight acid reflux at the moment.
Hope everyone is doing well x

Sorry not been here much as went back to work after two weeks and life has taken over! I feel so lucky not had any issues really other than bit of heartburn which I had before! Feeling pretty good and love seeing how everyone is progressing!
