July 2014 Surgeries

hi Katy,

it was ok actually. I wasn't even in pain when i woke up! Though i seem.to be in a bit more now.

am just sleeping a lot and letting people look after me lol xx

Ok guys, Mine is quickly approaching and I haven't even thought about packing a hospital bag. What did everyone take and actually use? So far my list includes - - PJ's - flip flops - toothbrush and paste - shower gel -dry shampoo -iPad -headphones

I took loads more and what you have is all I needed. Plus baby wipes and NAS squash.

The only thing I wish I'd took was some NAS squash as drinking plain water for me is a chore.

I took dry mouth spray, towels, slippers, protein water, toiletries and didn't need it - I wasn't allowed to shower.

Good luck Hun! xxx :D

I couldn't shower but strip wash was amazing at that point

Well done to this weeks oppers! Good to hear you are well and on the loosers bench! Xx

i was allowed to shower the following day x

Quick question for anyone over a week in .... I am 11 days post op at the moment and I am just starting to venture into soft foods as I feel ready. Still going to keep to some liquids I think. Loving soup at lunchtimes! But I'm a bit nervous about it as I kind of dont feel anything in my stomach now I am healing! Post op it was obvious there was something there so it was easy to be cautious! I am worried that I may be able to eat too much before my fill!

Sorry no idea there as not banded but I would say follow your providers guidelines or call them for advice

i agree, speak to your team. X

Only just seen all the replies, for some reason my phone isn't telling me when someone replies.

My mum has just come over with some tea tree body wipes as vie been told I can't shower for a week and in her words "I will be stinky" lol

I need to go shopping tomorrow for underwear as all of mine are French knickers - not sure they're overly appropriate :) x

Nothing wrong with French knickers......

I was told I could shower from day 2. I had clips as skin closures, not glue.

I went to the op with no knickers. :)

Me too! The anaesthetist referred to me as "Captain Commando", when I was bent forward having an epidural administered, with my fat arse hanging out...

Lol. I was bent over for 45mins and she couldn't find the right point to inject me... I had to ask her if she was performing acupuncture on me!! Then she stopped lol

Clearly I didn't need it, as I've had no pain. :). xx

I was asked to take my knickers out on the operating table, or they would cut them out when asleep.. As for the showers i was encouraged by the nurses to shower the following day.. I have staples in..(32 bloody staples..lol) x

I don't know you big Dave but the thought of you in French knickers is all to much lol why were you all bending over

It's the safest way to have epidural pain relief administered! The bending forward opens-up the vertebrae and makes it's easier for the anaesthetist to hit the correct spot.

I don't generally wear French knickers - only at the weekend... ;)

no epidural here, and i wore knickers in surgery.

also i showered the following day and just have dissolving stiches

Really confused here - why did you all have epidurals? Sorry i have been absent, i dropped my phone in the washing up bowl yesterday. Such bad timing!

And Dave, i don't think their is anything wrong with french knickers but i don't want the surgeon seeing more than he bargained for, although by the sounds he might anyway!
