July 2014 Surgeries

Really confused here - why did you all have epidurals? Sorry i have been absent, i dropped my phone in the washing up bowl yesterday. Such bad timing! And Dave, i don't think their is anything wrong with french knickers but i don't want the surgeon seeing more than he bargained for, although by the sounds he might anyway!

I didn't have one.

I think they do it to minimise pain afterwards.

I'm glad I didn't as the last one ruined my back xxx

I went to surgery in my knickers but had to take them off befor I got on the table and I had no epidural just morphine and I could shower the next morning :)

I was given the choice of epidural or post-op pain relief. The epidural is essentially 24 hours of pain relief. It's bloody painful to administer though, although the pain subsides rapidly.

My problem was that it lasted over 36 hours and totally screwed-up my waterworks, thereby necessitating the use of a catheter around 1 o'clock in the morning. Not my most pleasant experience, truth be told.

I'm a bit confused here why would the surgeon see more than he needs to. Why is he in that area in the first place. Also big Dave what you do in the comfort of your own home is up to you, me I like wear my husbands boxers when he's out but don't tell him lol

Mouse if for any reason they have problems and cant do op keyhole they can cut you from top to bottom of belly so undies would then get in the way

Thanks for that I couldn't think why they would be there unless they were looking to do a strange tummy tuck lol, I'm going to heartlands I was just looking at dome of your comments you haven't had a good response from them. Did you ever attend the monthly meeting, do you live in Birmingham how long ago did you have your op. I know I. Asking questions that are already on here but I find bit difficult getting to the right threads an what part is what so sorry for any repeats

Yes under heartlands no to meeting im in northampton an hour on train 12 weeks post bypass and yes disappointed follow up is lousy had one seminar post op not even seen surgeon or anything and at 12 weeks should be having bloods done again nothing they never even told my gp what surgery I had or what follow up from him should be like but that dont mean everyone will have the same experience and feel free to ask you get no where if you dont

I will be asking and following up anything they need to be doing if they don't deliver. I on the other had live 15 mins away from the hospital so if I don't get anywhere I will be making visits in person and they won't like that because I will be making a fuss. So far they have been ok and my GP is already aware of the date of surgery so maybe they have had a rocketing from somewhere and are getting their act together. They will have to improve if the new change to increasing bariatric surgery goes through. How long were you in for

Wednesday to friday though op was at spire solihull due to no beds at heartlands was supposed to be 1 night stay but due to possible infection they kept me 1 extra night
