November 2014 Surgeries

hi I think the weight loss stops as our bodies get rehydrated and guts fill up. I have found it demoralising too as I only eat 800 or so calories. :)

Well I suppose at least I'm not alone in this. It is really demoralising :( xxx

Can I ask what multivitamins everyone is taking. I so far in Almost two weeks have taken about 3 I am terribly forgetful!!!

Xx

I've been a bit quiet over the weekend as I've been quite ill ? horrendous camping in the bathroom following that awful constipation on Friday means a very drained and tired Vicky...

Don't worry about the stall in weight loss 2nd week post op I was the same, have you been keeping measurements? I found that I'd lost inches even tho I hadn't lost any weight...it is demoralising though I agree but you need to remember that your body is repairing on the inside and stalls will happen...I've got my 3rd post op weigh on Friday and then my first check
Up with provider on Monday so will see what happens but I'd be surprised if I haven't lost this week given what's come out of me!!

Good luck to all those that are having surgery in the next few days :) xx

Thanks! It's just a bit meh! But good to know others have experienced the same! Xx

Totally get the meh feeling!! It sucks but seeing my loss in inches softened the blow at least a tiny bit...trying so hard to not keep jumping on the scales!! Keep it up we'll get there ?

Aww llora the weight will come off soon than you think. Apparently stalls are common. How much have you lost so dar??? And what foods are you finding the most difficult? Any what things can you no longer eat gone off now?? X

I've lost 40kg in total since the start of this journey. If i only count post op so i've lost 19.8kg. Nothing impressive :) i am not the fast looser for sure :)

I have not had an official stall yet (where i have not lost any weight in a week). But i had a few weeks were i've lost only 0.5kg or 0.8kg.

Well i think i am one of those lucky people and i did tolerate everything i've eaten post op (so far). But there are plenty of things i have not touched yet :)

Hi, I had my sleeve on the 8th November. I love reading all the posts on here, it's a real lifeline! Feels comforting to know we are going through similar journeys. I have not told many people about my surgery but everyone keeps commenting that I have lost weight in my face and got the twinkle in my eyes back, so something must be happening :) still second guessing if I am doing everything right, no idea if I am getting in enough protein, I have seen sites that say we should be getting in 60 grams a day and I think I'd be lucky if I am getting in 25! Getting very tired of the "furry mouth" feeling this liquid diet is giving me... Roll on the 29th when I can try purée food! Hope everyone is doing well and good luck to those waiting for their ops, and healing hugs to those recovering. :)

congrats on your surgery. It sounds like you are doing well . 60grams is a lot isn't it? You haven't got long to go till puree . do you feel hungry? Its been 4 long weeks then another 4 before i taste food again so shall we say next year lol! X

Went back to hospital today for follow up. I'm doing okay. 1st adjustment booked for 20th December. I started weighing in at 109.7 kg, on date of op I weighed 104 kg and today 102 kg so would like to have lost 3 kg before 20th, however the nurse has advised me not to expect too much, she said I may even put on weight but not to be alarmed. As I have no restriction I will want to eat as I always have unless I have a strong willpower. I don't want to put on weight so I'm am certainly going to try and watch what I eat.

I had a small side plate of 'corned beef hash' with a little gravy for dinner and later small pot of rice pudding and a few tinned prunes.

Also finding Lactulose is doing the trick in combating the constipation:)

I take Centrium chewable which were suggested by the dietitian.

Good luck everyone for this weeks ops xx

Thanks everyone for the vitamin advice. I'll look into those ones especially as you've all advised them! Can't believe at 24 I'm gonna be buying vits for 50+ hahahaha

See my provider is expecting me to have lost 5% of my start weight by the time I go for my first fill 5 weeks post surgery! (Infact it'll only be 4!)

So I don't understand how some expect losses and others nothing? Xx

Oh and 5% for me is 11lbs. I have left to loose for my fill date! X

Isn't it strange how we are all given different advice. I was given statistics of the expectation that on the band you should lose 50% of your excess weight and three months after the op I should have lost 30%. So far I have lost 17%, so should be on target. However, these are stats and sometimes I do treat them with the contempt they deserve. Plus we are all very different so I don't want to put too much pressure on myself or I'll get stressed out - easier said than done.

MizKirsty you have done well with your weight loss xx

mizkirsty I must admit ive beem awful at taking vitamins aswel. my weight jas well and truly stalled but I do thing ivblost a bit more from my body as some of my trousers r getting looser. but bmi has gone from 43.1 to 39.8 so its all good. well get there. I just feel so guilys when I eat.its silly. I had half a bowl of soup last night and I just wasnt ful so a xouple of hrs later my hubby was ful from his tea so I had his left overs. 1 1/2 smal fagots with a couple of spoons of mushy peas, gravy and mixed the soft bit of a slice of bread with it. if I had put it in a bowl it wud have been a normal small portion that im now having but I felt so guilty I cudnt sleep.x

It will take more than a few small weeks to change our thinking. I too still feel guilty if I have unplanned food. But think about it. I have been told to aim for 1000 cals a day. How hard is that. Even weight watchers or SW would have large lAdies up at around 1500. I checked online, my basal metabolic rate is around 1400 before I have even taken a step. So of course we will be hungry. No one said this will be easy and it's not. But being tbe super women we are. We WILL get there xx

I took centrum chewable to start with, then once on normal foods i took centrum woman or centrum advanced. Today i will start forceval as my gp finally agreed to put it on prescription (after a letter from bariatric team suggested that all the vit should be prescribed as post bypass they are needed like medicine (not exact words but the meaning is that)).

I've been told within the 1-2yrs 50-60-% of your excess weight. But within the first 5 weeks post op I'm expected to loose 5%!!

But that's it unless they'll set me another goal when I go back!

I was so positive the first week. Now I think with the scales not moving and me eating so little I think I feel a little meh. But I'm sure once they budge again I'll be happy. I'm thinking of taking measurements again this week that's 2 weeks since last to see if that'll give me a boost! Xx
