November 2014 Surgeries

hi everyone, great to hear how well you are all doing. I am three weeks post today and I wouldn't know I had surgery three weeks ago. I have been back at work for two weeks, I don't feel tired anymore, up to around 800 calories a day and moved on to soft food with no trouble. Just ate a quorn cottage pie and had crayfish yesterday. Sometimes get a little ache when the food passes into my stomach but nothing else. Doing this was such a great decision for me. Frustrated i am only allowed to walk, but back to pre op levels of 7 -8 km a day. good luck Sharona, and so pleased to hear from everyone else k

Can I ask what your weightlosses have been like? I'm a bit down about it atm? X

It's really hard but try not to get down mizkirsty if your on about stalling or maintaining...your body is still in recovery on the inside regardless of what wls we've all had done...I think you mentioned on another post about measurements, whilst you might not of lost weight this week, you will have lost inches...it could just be as simple as a bit of water retention whilst in healing or simply "that time"...we're all hear to support anyway when we have down days...it's only going to natural that we all do but as long as we are making good use of the tools given to us that's all anyone can ask if us :) virtual hugs xx

Hi Miss Kirsty

Please don't get demoralised I think as we rehydrate and our guts get working again we have a bit of a slow down. I have lost two stone - today I made the last half pound for the two stone yahoo. My weight loss was very fast pre op and for the first week after surgery, then I had a very slow week, I only lost a pound, but now its coming off again about 2.5lbs this week. I have found that I need to eat low energy dense food and getting up and walking as much as possible is the way to get the weight going.

I am struggling with the late night crap munchies still, its obviously in my head not my stomach so I am going to need to develop a solution to managing them.

K

well done weeb.thats fab.

mizkirsty dont worry. the dietitian told me its perfectly normal.ur body is taking back what we took from it on lsd and foods were supose to eat now liquid/puree r higher in calories and carbs. last week I barely lost 1lb. it will come off. try not to worry.

congrats to the ops yesterday, I hope ur feeling ok.

good luck sharona for today.u will be fine. x

Good luck sharona today! Wishing you a speedy recovery. Cxxx

and I know I shouldn't be worrying but I do feel like I've failed. If I get on the scales today and don't loose I'll feel like I've let myself down. I'll have let my partner down. I'll have wasted the money and put myself through it for nothing.

But all your posts have helped. I see quite a few people have slow second weeks. I just need to stay focused and not let it deter me for the next week - usually this would provoke a huge junk food binge! :( obviously I can't manage that though so that's great! Xx

Hello

I never thought my time would come, but here I am on the losers bench.

I look so damned sexy in my styled crinkled green Nora Batty stockings and my gown that doesn't meet at the back.

I might get up and waddle to the ladies to drive the other patients wild with flashes of my wobbly butt partially encased in paper knickers.

I hope my op day buddies are feeling ok.

SHARONA, you're in my thoughts as your time has finally come. What a way to bring this months oppers to an end xx

Hope all the post oppers from yesterday and recovering well :)

Hi all im on the other side. I had my bypass. Was first on the list due to my on going health probs . Went down at 9am then back up on ward for 2pm. Still in hospital . Surgeon told me i did a great pre op diet as liver was shrunk well. So all that worry over op was for nothing. suffered a lot a lot of pain whilst in recovery but my nurse next to me was great! There checking for a possible chest infection as I'm coughing and this is putting pressure on my wounds but however I'm ok. feeling so so tired at moment but will fill you all in when i am able.

Woo hoo !
Glad your doing ok been checking on here for updates ! Now rest up and start planning your new life very well done x
