post op band help please

Check with your provider ~ neither mints nor chewing gum are on a "no" list from mine!

Also, its pretty common that its 2 weeks liquids post op ~ so many things vary between providers, so if you're ever unsure its always important to check with them first :)
 
Oh I knew that it was 2 weeks but for some weird reason I was convinced that was up on Sunday. I really do have a brain it's just not working properly :)
Anyway today has been ok all round really. Wind pain is much better. Burping less. Had pain killers when I got up this morning but none since. X
 
I am 11 days post op, so on soft foods now, am trying to average 1000 a day (which according to some calculation) adds up to 2lb weight loss a week, so in 77 weeks I should be at my goal weight! (God I am a real geek aren't I?!) lol
 
I know they say 2lb per week but I know it's gonna be faster. I'm trying to keep my calories down but will be happier when I can eat something solid again.
That's not geeky it's future focussed. I want biggest looser numbers though so I'm going yo start running as soon as the 6 weeks is up. Couch to 5k app is apparently good. 77 weeks is nothing and Summer is at least 28 weeks away & that's 4 stone lighter x
 
Well by April is my main one, my best friend will be coming back from afghan and I want to surprise him!
 
Hi Kat, how are you getting on? I'm getting better but hungrey, have no trouble getting anything down, spoke to nurse she said is normal and must be a quick healer. Started to panic that my band had moved! Have you lost much since banded? Xx
 
I'm good, and yup I'm hungry now too, only a couple of things I can't eat tbh, am doing my best not to go over 1000 calories a day, but finding that hard now, am trying to eat slowly though, that helps abit, but can't wait for a fill!! X
 
Hi blob & kalkatt. How many days post op are you? I'm a week now & still on liquid diet. I've another week but feel ready for mush. I think I will ask when I'm called this week. I don't understand why advice is so different. The wind was back yesterday I had 12 hours of that rotten shoulder ache I thought what was in the past. X

Blob and I had surgery the same day, 12 days ago. It does seem crazy the difference between one area an another doesn't it, all for the same op?! Mine was 4 or so days on clear liquids, 4 or so days on thick liquids, then mushy stuff, but then if you chew it loads it's mush anyway right?
I just followed what my body told me, if you try something mushy, just take it real slow and listen to what Larry tells you, any discomfort and stop!! (Larry the lap band that is!!) lol
 
Thanks you're a star. I'm going to do some thicker soup I think just for some substance. My tummy is constantly rumbling now & I'm sure all that churning must be just as bad for Larry as a can of pea & ham or leek & potato :)
 
Yes is a bit scary really. It's all of a sudden like nothing's happened. I've been really pleased with the control so far. I'm supposed to be on liquids still so perhaps I'm gonna have to do shakes and try to ride it out until my first fill. The worry is that the fill nurse isn't due to call for another 5 weeks :(
 
That's just how I feel! I'm not due for a fill till after the 10th dec!! Guess we have got to be patient and try to behave ourselves till then! X
 
I've just been given the go ahead to eat food from this weekend. Not just mush but soft food such as cottage pie or anything that doesnt need cut. Who thought that would be something to really look forward to? Today I've eaten 500mls of soya yoghurt & 63kcal per 125 mls. Looking forward to soup tonight runny & lump free
I was really good yesterday too I had a shape delight yoghurt all day & nothing else. Needless to say my leg looks delicious to me today. Volume doesn't seem to be a problem either is that normal because that 500ml of soya yoghurt slipped down easy & I am still hungry over an hour later?
 
I went font a jog today 4 miles in 45min 600calories burned. Weight loss has stopped :( I've had 672 calories in today so far & aiming for 1000 per day. On soft foods from today.
 
I haven't been brave enough to weigh myself, my apatite is back ten fold, and 1000cals is just not filling me up! It's not what I'm eating, it's the quantity, im trying so hard not to eat large portions, eating slowly etc, but am sooo hungry!!

Darin you won't necessarily lose weight each week at the beginning, and if you think about it logically, you are feeling hungry as you are using up so many calories exercising versus how many you are consuming (based on the levels quoted above). Dont know what your stats are ... but do you use myfitnesspal app? that should help give you some guidance on what your net calories a day should be to support the weight loss goals you are looking to achieve. Mushy/solids will probably help, as would consuming a bit more, and of course the band fills. Net calories of say 400 in a day is likely however to mean your body is going to cling onto everything it can and slow the losses down. It's early days ... You will find out what works best for you with trial and error...and guidance from you weight loss providers team :)
 
I've got my fitness pal downloaded. I was famished yesterday after my run & ate & ate & ate small portions blah blah.... however, I managed to eat enough for a 5lb gain! I know I''ve probably caused my muscles to pump up & hold water. I must've eaten 2000 calories though so not starved myself.
Today no exercise less hunger. I should find out about my first fill on Thursday hopefully.
I didn't chew a seafood stick properly today and got that stuck in your gullet feeling so had a drink of water as I normally would. I've read about pb ing & think I know what it is now. The water short back up followed by the poorly chewed processed fish product yuk. I must have some restriction?

I know what you mean but it won't be long now until your fill. Im scared too that it's all going to be just like before the band but I know that it's going to get better x
