BANDERS UNITE ! Get to know each other chatter !

Hiya, thought i would introduce myself to the banders! I lost 9 stone pre-op through liquid diets such as Cambridge & Exante but have a terrible time keeping it off. I was given the option between a bypass and a band but at my age (23) i found the idea of the bypass quite scary, so went with the band, hope i didnt make a mistake! Had the band put in 3 days ago and currently on puree foods :)

Thanks Kat, I have been on the treadmill most days..I just wanted to be lazy today!! I did get on eventually though :)

Hope you get over your cold soon xxxxx And that fullness stays with you for a nice long time...hopefully it will give you a head start anyway

Hey Mel ! Well done on the gym! It's going to make all the difference..I wish I could get to one!

Piratess, the myfitnesspal site is totally free and most foods seem to be on there for you to look up your calories daily.
Hope you have fun making your nose!!!

Rache ! Missed you hun! I hope so much that this house goes ahead for you..and that you are settled in really soon!

Btw I have been collecting pictures of shirtless men to bestow upon you all starting Monday again xxx

Hello Jiggly :D hehe not a pokemon fan perchance are you? My lot are just discovering it at the moment :D

If you just read back through here we have covered a lot of good stuff about life with a band and we are all pitching in to help any problems that come up.

My main bit of advice which I quoted earlier today is to get on a proper food plan/diet as soon as you can eat solids again.
Rosemary Conley diet club / plan is ideal for banders actually and Mazza has also written us a very straightforward and easy to grasp eating guide which I highly recommend.
Find an exercise you can do consistantly and realistically daily and that's it really.
Having a band , even without ideal restriction, is so much easier than dieting alone...and if you put in a little effort you will do just fine xxxx

Evening all:grouphugg:

I finished working about half an hour ago. I have had the day from hell. I felt like death when I woke up and decided to work from home. Then all hell broke lose. At one point I thought I would have to drag myself in even though I was not fit to go anywhere.

I only need to do a half day tomorrow then it is off to Walsall and my fill. I am starting to get some pain where I think I have the hernia so it is just as well I can get it checked out.

Food today is almost identical to yesterday:

Actimel
3 cups of coffee drunk throughout the day - I hardly drunk coffee before the op - I hope I am not getting addicted to the caffeine:rolleyes:
1 egg cheese omelette
seafood sticks salad a little beetroot and a drizzle of chilli dipping sauce
Rest of home made fish pie with a few peas and spinach
Muller strawberry rice pot thingy

My pouch is now twinging - it is definitely the rice pot thingy. It was the last one so I will not be buying any more.

I will be back on liquids tomorrow for 2 weeks so it will not be worth me logging as it will be hot drinks, soup, protein shakes and more soup! I have bought myself a little thermos flask - £10 from amazon, to make sure I take my soup to work for lunch otherwise there is a danger I will skip the meal. Post op I never ate lunch because I was always too busy at work. Now I make myself take a break and I need to do the same when I am in the office. It has worked so far in that I have taken a packed lunch. The mushy stage is going to be a bit more challenging - it is the time I struggle to eat as nothing feels very appetising. I am not really a potato fan and mash with everything just does not turn me on:D. Any ideas?

Well I have rambled enough. Despite all the stress I am feeling quietly pleased I have been able to keep going at this pace of sorts - but I do not intend to make a habit of it:rolleyes:.

Rache glad you have found somewhere. To everyone - keep going you are all doing brill:).

OMG Neen I have gone all unnecessary !!!!!! hmmmmmmmmmmmm :p

That is a truly awesome picture of my second husband! x x x x x

Thank you xxxx

Good luck TB xxx It can only get better for you I reckon x
I was wondering if cous cous or quinoa would be a good sub for mash? Or maybe try mashing swede and carrot together...or sweet potato?

Thanks Neen. I am half expecting to turn up tomorrow and not get one given the not very good admin at Walsall. I should have had it last week but they messed up the appointments. I like cous cous but wondered about the calories. I have never tried quiona - what does it taste like and what is it like calorie wise? I never thought of carrot and swede mashed - that may be good for my evening meals.

Thanks for the tips:).

Yep, you can have him and I will stick with Dave - I can see the attraction though ;)

I just showed the pic to my OH its a good job he isn't the jealous type and appreciates my love of the Grohl! x x x

That's quite allright xx I think it's OK really, for the amount you're going to eat of it.
I love sweet potato with rosemary and red onion mashed...or along that theme, why not dry roast a load of root veggies and onions and then mash them up

Yes those sound nice. Thanks:)
