BANDERS UNITE ! Get to know each other chatter !

CC-I have only lost 12lbs since the 1st and I have been 22st 8 for the last 5 days give and take a few grams here and there. It I am just thinking, if I am having so little...and the band is meant to make me only have a little at a time, and in theory having around about the same caloric intake....then how will it work for me?

I have done Cambridge.....and I almost prefer this to that...the soups were awful....it did make me laughing seeing all these "most women" doing their best to try and make the soup into crisps and things *LOL* and I lost a stone in a week on it...but then I continued for a further 3 more weeks and lost nothing.....so I stopped and went on SW and then lost a stone more...which freaked me out as I was eating and losing.....but then I got PG and it all started all over again!!:sigh:

You've stayed the same for 5 days ... thats not long. You're body is a machine and is adjusting to the milky diet. :D

The CD soups were disgusting - they taste like nothing else on the market :jelous: - they don't even taste of the flavours they are. Just the thought leaves me feeling sick. I really hope and pray I don't have to revisit that diet.

Also, yes it was a little pitiful the ladies making crisps and stuff. I tried it a few times and found the whole experience a bit pathetic. Also the crisps tasted disgusting - like a concentrated flavour of the soups! The tetras (especially the banana flavour) always tastes as if they'd gone rancid. Not good. :D An inconvenient and anti-social diet on many levels IMHO. I got down to 16St 6Ibs with it though lol.

I agree the soups were nasty and the milk drinks...just evil... i used to use the website set up my ladies using cd. They use to make things with it...crisps sound familiar..odd the things we do to lose weight

OMG, I so know what you mean....the soups were tasted like melted plastic with the occasional old piece of meat you found behind your teeth after a meal, if you catch me drift! *LOL* The bars were ok, for a change of pace when you wanted a different texture, but they weren't nice for the money. Not to mention, I would have to force the soups or shakes down as I would have rather have nothing than that...but it's part and parcel of it all. And the cut the bars suggestion into half a million pieces to make it last longer!! uh....no thanks I didn't really want it to last any longer than it had too! *LOL* In the end it was both the none loss and my son asking me why I was only eating soup all the time, that made me stop. But as with this milk diet, it goes to show you, you can survive on very very little and still survive.

it is the same with SW though too...people trying to find way to have SYN FREE chips and SYN FREE Pizza and SYN FREE Ketchup and MAYO....People want to eat the things they "shouldn't" when they are on those diets...which is why everything in moderation works...but then again it all depends on your version of moderation. For me...if I wanted some chocolate, I might get 1 or 2 chunks at the most of a yorkie bar.....that would be moderation for me...some people moderation might be only have 2 full bars instead of 4.*LOL*

Yes but Cambridge Diet is a very very very pricey way of surviving on nothing. It never fails to amaze me when you hear people say that being on CD was cheaper than eating food ... I mean wtf are they kidding. You'd have to be packing in an awful lot of expensive crap to be eating £40 worth of food on your own each week!

The bars were disgusting and made me fart all the time - I don't really enjoy chocolate so it didn't make me have a CD gastro-orgasm.

Coupled with the completely unforgiving nature of the diet ... dare to have a drink with citric acid in it and you're out of ketosis and buggrd up. So my counsellor used to try and sell me the water flavourings (an expensive add-on of course) for about £7 for powder to add to water! She suggested I make it up with fizzy water and drink it in a wine glass so I didn't feel deprived .... PMSL :rotflmao:.

Very true. At least they're eating real food so there is some normality about it. I do believe in everything in moderation, so I don't tend to buy 'diet' products any more.

PMSL!! You've gotta be kidding me? Jeezzz, nice add on....for her. Yeah I did find it rather expensive.....too....I am sure my CD lady was laughing when I left...thinking " there goes another sucker!".....if I had the loses, I would have suck with it no matter how much I hated it.....

£7 for water powder....was it laced with gold or something?

I do buy light mayo, and try to cut the fat off and I don't really eat fried food. Most stuff is grill on the BBQ, or steam roasted or grilled....so I am good on the score. I don't buy diet stuff, cuz OH won't touch it with a barge pole....but I do get things like ryvita, and I buy mature cheese as it has less fat...and I only drink skim milk...but I rarely drink milk because of my intolerance.....

Hi all,
Just thinking about how the band works in spite of the low cals etc.
If you think about it, most other diets are things we come off of after a certain amount of time.
So we lose whilst we follow them (sometimes) and we do not sustain the loss after we revert back to a different way of eating (or the old way)

Despite various problems with restriction and slider foods , you cannot "come off" a band.
So you are eating less in the long term and it must be enough to shift the weight or I am pretty sure with all the mistakes I have made, I would still be at my starting weight.

Neen, I honestly get how the band works over all....what I don't get is how it is going to work FOR ME. If I can't lose it having very little in the way of calories and I am doing moderate exercise, then I am not sure how it is going to benefit me. I am not sure if I am even making sense. I mean, if I were eating large portions all the time, then it would work, it would cut my portions and I would lose weight. But I rarely do it....and right now, I am having NO PORTIONS and I still can't lose....so I am thinking that I may have hard time.

You know for my business I do make diabetic friendly cupcakes as well as fat free and glutenfree.....not that I am pluggin, just mentioning...*LOL*

I was watching a weight programme late the other night and a young woman went from being athletic and sporty to over 300lbs in a short space of time, she hardly ate a thing after going undiagnosed for about 15 years i think it was they diagnosed her with cushings disease. Once she was treated the weight fell off her... it was really interesting..but i like most weight loss programmes, love to see the end result :D

I get what you're saying but there must be something over a long period of time that is preventing you from losing if you eat that way?
Have you had your thyroid checked etc?
Yeah they checked my thyroid, but not sure what else as they never gave me the results of my tests.....so I am not sure what if anything else they checked.

This is what I am saying....I really honestly don't get what the deal is....I know it isn't the PCOS...well I don't but I don't think it is THAT big a deal....and other than that I have no idea....when I was younger and int he US...I get it...I did used to eat crap, cuz the crap was cheaper than the good stuff. Not to mention with all the stuff I was doing, I never cooked a meal....and I so it was just something quick easy....and as everyone know's food is bad./cheap and easy in the US. Homemade food is still from processed food just processed again....*LOL*

But I don't do that here, life is different. Not to mention My own personal gordon ramsey in the kitchen....so I don't need to eat the rubbish, cuz i get gorgeous foods from scratch at home. SO I don't do the take aways.it is a rare thing...I don't eat processed food, and I eat my 5 fruit and veg a day...I exercise.so I just feel like something isn't right....but it's like no one on the other end cares.....Even when I paid all the money for a personal trainer and was doing the low GI diet on body chef, I still only lost 2 stone in 4 months.....and then nothing for months...and I gave up again. I know I know how to maintain as I was about the same weight for the last year bar 5lbs which was what I put on when I went on depro- and then when I came off I lost it straight away....so I know how to maintain at least *LOL* just not the maintain of the right weight....so I am at a loss right now....I think my big fear is to get the band and find out...I am no better off than before and went through all of this for nothing......

hehehe me too.....I do just feel bad when you see then women thinking that losing weight will solve all their problems......it helps but they aren't all of a sudden going popular successful in everything else...those are all separate issues, but by losing weight they will maybe have the courage to sort the rest out.....

anyway...be back later taking my son to swim lessons.....:)

Great post. Excellent way of looking at things. Can you imagine what you'd have gained back had you lost 100+Ibs with Cambridge and just stopped the diet (without going through the stages)?
