BANDERS UNITE ! Get to know each other chatter !

Thanks Jo I think I'm going to try a jacket potato without the skin, mashed up with some cottage cheese! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed it's okay but I think it should be alright. x

Be careful Melly your instinct will be that you can eat it and eat it all BUT it may not be sloppy enough. Whatever you try think early baby food consistency, gradually bulking the consistency up to more solid food when you can move on.

As an example one of my first sloppy 'meals' I served packet mash with parsley sauce. I could only manage maybe 2 tablespoons.

Good luck but take it easy x

Hey all!

How are we?

Well the wind has died down and i can see a glimpse of sun!

Whoohoo.. that's cheered me up a little..

Cant wait to start mashed food and to find a little bit of restriction again!

How many mil's do you all have in your band and how long did it take to reach your final restriction?

Just curious, i've currently got 2mil's in a 14mil band..

Marie x

Hi Marie

Im good thanks! Hope you enjoy your mushy food x

I have 7 mils in my 9 cc band but I'm going for another fill on Monday.

My journey to 7mils took a bit of a detour as I had 2 operations last year. Basically I had 7mils in my band this time last year but needed a fill, didnt get one because of ops - avoiding a defill. Had the 2 ops, went for a checkup in July to find 2 mils had gone, topped up to 6.5, then to 7 just before Christmas.

So here I am in February 11 needing the fill I needed in February 10. Im hoping that this is the last one and will see me through maintenance x

I have 6ml in a 10ml band but eating is giving me grief at the moment. Its only a week since my fill so I am sticking with it and trying very hard to follow the band rules - lots of small bites and chew chew chew! The difference 1ml has made is really surprising as I could eat pretty much anything before. i think it is different for everybody and each persons journey is unique to them
Good luck on your journey

Morning all. Marie I have the same band size and amount in as you. I wonder if Walsall only put in this band size as they do so few of this surgery? I feel restriction in that in the mornings it is tight and I struggle to have my actimel, a coffee and then a weetabix with lots of skimmed milk. It gets better on the afternoon. When I have my main meal in the evening I am working out slowly how much I can eat of purée/mushy food because the pain if I eat too much is excruciating. As, like you, I have not had the chance to just eat 'normally' it will be interesting to see what it is like.

Did you check with Walsall about your next appointment?

Neen, the mattress topper seems to be doing the trick. I have had two good nights sleep. Thank you for the recommendation. Hope you and the family are well today.

That's awesome news TB xxx Happy to suggest something practical x
We're OK, I'm shattered as always but have had some nice days with the boys being good at school.
Got period from heck at the moment. My main goal is to get under 200lbs and hopefully then on the pill or something to alleviate the monthly problems a bit.

Hi Neen. Sorry to hear you are having a bad time. I used to suffer terribly with mine too. Unfortunately I could not use the pill. I hope that if you can get on it, it will help. I thought I had gone through the menopause early but had a period last month - the first in three years. I am still reeling from the shock and am praying it was a one off.

I am glad the boys are settled. You will get to your goal of under 200 and get to your ultimate goal. I have every faith in you:hug99:.

It is hard not to feel despair when you put it like that - BUT - think how much you have achieved already. You have lost more than most here who have had a bypass have to lose. You have shown how a band really does work. You will get there and we are all here for you.

Best wishes

Hi Sarah. What are you experiencing that makes you feel you need another fill. Are you feeling nothing at all? Just curious.

Ok - flying visit, so here goes!

Neen - have a look into mefenamic acid, google it, may help with your lady problems x x

TB / Marie and anyone interested! there are two types of 'bands' used the lap band which it sounds like you have because it comes in different sizes but usually 10 or 14 mil. Then there is the realize or swedish band which is the one I have, a one size fits all or 9cc!

TB I have a memory foam mattress - its bliss so I imagine your topper is great too!

Sarah - how soon can you arrange for another fill?

Hi Bev x

Thats it folks - gotta run x x

Sorry if I missed anyone x

Morning all, Mazza I have it booked in for March, my surgeon does them every 6 weeks (if needed).

TB, I'm not getting the 'full' feeling I experienced in the earlier days I am still eating of the smallest side plate I could find, but know I could eat more and am usually hungry again 2 hours later. I'm following the drinking rules set out by my consultant, so don't think that's the problem. I'm thankful that I had joined this site so know that this is common until you find your 'sweet spot'.

However, to make a complete liar of myself, I can feel restriction this morning and can't finish my breakfast!!!

On the plus side, I've lost 4lb this week, which is the regain of last week plus a little extra.

Have a lovely weekend everyone xx
