BANDERS UNITE ! Get to know each other chatter !

Good Day banders!! It been 3 month since surgery down 25lbs. I lost more but gain 5 back. Not doing well a little down. 2morrow is my band check, it haven't been fill since surgery.I think now I need a fill, stay hungry can't cut the cravings.

Hey folks....still here....just totally messed up...bands not working it's either got a leak or come undone...been in hospital in the last week with chronic abdominal pain but no outcome on why...back to see surgeon on thursday am....gaining weight soooooooooo fast :(

Oh no! sorry to hear this, I hope they find out whats causing you the problems and sort it out soon x

Hi folks - hav`nt been on this thread for a while as I felt a little down and did`nt want to pull you all down with me!

I should have really stuck with you all - sorry - I know you all talk a lot of sense and would have helped me through this period. Trouble is I get very introverted and find it hard to open up to people when the going gets tough instead of sharing, plus also suffer with the `winter blues`and don`t cope too well with the winter months.

Anyhoo........never mind that, today I spoke to my dietician, who incidentally is very happy with my progress, I have been losing little by little (guess I was expecting it to be more dramatic than that) I have made an appointment to go and see her at the end of next month, better save some money for the petrol.....its now four months since I had my band fitted and I have lost 30lbs in total since starting with the milk diet....so I should be pleased even though it seems slow, it is coming off and not going on.

Maz - you have done so well with your weight loss, I expect another fill will give you the push you want to get to goal.

Rachel - good to know that your getting plenty of compliments, I`m looking forward to the day when I can afford some new clothes in smaller sizes instead of wearing stuff that looks quite baggy now.....and maybe perhaps I might get a compliment - who knows!

Oooh sorry Lost that you are having such a hard time, hope you can get your band sorted out real soon and they sort out the pain for you hun x

Angela - hope you get your fill soon, and then the weight will start falling off again x

Neen - Hope you are well and your boys are being good for you hun x

Take care x

Love Kat x

Hello all. Kat the winter months are very hard - we could all do with some sunshine. Congrats with the weight loss - slow and steady.

Lost, I hope they can resolve something for you soon - it all sounds very painful.

I have been suffering dizzy spells for a while and been monitoring my blood pressure daily at different times. I am getting some very low readings so I have made an appointment to see the doc next week to see if she can alter my blood pressure meds. She may not want to do it as it took a consultant to sort out the dosage after I was very ill with my BP which meant I was off sick from work for 10 months. Still, getting off the meds was the whole purpose of me having surgery so I am hoping that they can be reduced without suffering any bad side effects.

Hope everyone is well.

Hmmmm...

Well, I am at a loss.

I have been trying so hard since seeing dietitian but things are going from bad to worse.

As they have not done a fill now for a year, my restriction is shot and I am eating way tooo much, I seem to have lost the will with my banding. I was supposed to be getting a fill next week but thats been cancelled and will have to wait another week.

I have regained a lot of weight, and to be honest have had enough of this.

When I do get to see my consultant, gonna have to tell him what is on my mind. I am possibly thinking of asking about bypass.

I cannot do this with a band, its too much of a struggle.

I know a lot of you have looked to me for advice but I am going to take a step back for a while and sort this out the best way I can, as I am slowly getting very upset by it all.

thank you guys - i will be back - just need to work on this

Gosh Caz has it been a year since your last fill, no wonder your restriction has wained.

Good luck when you do get to see the consultant and with whatever you both decide.

Take care x

Caz I hear you x I have felt like that a lot with mine, but my lack of progress last year was me sabotaging myself by comfort eating.
I hope very much you can come to a solution with your team and get things in place to give you results x

It seems like a lot of people are struggling at the minute, I hope things improve soon for all. I feel like that myself to a certain extent, even though I tell myself that it'll take time and poss many fills, it is disheartening that it's taking more to fill me. I will be getting another fill in 3 weeks, so that should help.

I ate 2 eggs scrambled and 2 rashers of bacon for lunch and for some reason I feel so sick, I have them quite often but never had this reaction before. Maybe it's wind and doing some housework will shift it? Better give it a try.

Have lovely weekend xx

Hope your wind eases hun :D
Hows all the lovely banders today? Sorry to hear you are having a tough time at the mo Caz, hope all is well with everyone else. XX

Thinking of you Caz, you have been a tremendous support to us all and I'd like to say we are here for you always. Good luck with your discussion with the Consultant and hoping for better days ahead for you. You are in my thoughts.

Love and hugs xxx

Hi Sarah. I am just trying eggs and find if they are soft scrambled they digest better. Not tried poached eggs as yet or bacon. I defniately have that full feeling a lot longer with eggs than anything else.

The band is hard work - there is no doubt about it and it can be disheartening if all you read on here are posts from bypassers about galloping weight loss!

The thing is not to lose heart. Just look at people like Mazza and Neen who have done phenomenally well. Post on here if you are struggling and lets see if we cannot help each other. I know I am new like you and it is still a learning curve. I am determined not to get hung up about scales and am going by how clothes feel and how I feel in myself health wise. For example today I tried on a work jacket which I could not do up before the op and today it fitted with ease. That is how I am measuring how things are going. If you weigh yourself do not forget that if the scales are not moving you may be losing inches and that is what I feel is happening with me. I know we are all different.

We will all get there in the end but for us banders it may just take a little longer;).

Tb you must be thrilled about doing up your jacket, I had a similar experience with a winter coat that last fit 5 years ago, it's such a boost when they fit again. I must get around to measuring myself soon, you're right about losing inches instead of pounds.
I'm the same with eggs, they fill me great. But I'm still feeling sick and the housework didn't help, I'm wondering if it's a bug as I feel a little shaky as well?
I agree that the ladies on here are inspirational, I just need to learn some patience. However I have made progress, I only weigh myself once a week now lol
Well the hoover is now calling :/

I completely how you feel babe ... my heart really does go out to you.

:hug99:

I'm struggling too and totally despondent and I haven't given it the shot that you have nor have I done as well. Unfortunately my one shot was last year when I had the money to pay for the operation. Now there is no chance whatsoever and can't go down the NHS route. No money left to go private again.

I hope you get a bypass - you've obviously worked so very hard.

:hug99:

Morning all. I feel very sad that people are struggling. Please do not give up. I am a great believer that there are solutions to most things - not all. If you are struggling then please post on here and see if people can help. Get support - do not struggle alone.

I've been really feeling it since reading Caz's posting yesterday.

I really wish I could do something to help.

All we can do for now, is to say our love and support is here for everyone and anyone who is feeling it's a struggle and hoping that collectively we can support each other to make this journey more manageable.

Thinking of everyone and anyone struggling at the moment, sending a humungous hug to each of you and always at your side and with you...

Love you all and take good care, you are all Angels to me xxx
