Hi All!

I'm currently 3 weeks post op and was wondering how long people waited until they started excercise? As I want to start doing toning excerises on my arms with weights and wondered if it was a bit too early to be doing this?!

Thanks in advance! xx

Take it steady, if you are just walking or doing your arms carefully it might be OK. Best to not do too much core I'm guessing, till you feel totally comfortable twisting etc.
I think start very gentle and do small amounts daily til you feel like you can build it up.
We all heal at different rates though so maybe ask your team as they are the experts and they know you better as well so can give appropriate advice tailored to you x

Hi Claire I was walking from day 3 post op, just a slow half a mile initially and progressed to walking up to 2 miles a day and at quite a pace. I let my body tell me how much was enough as if I overdid it I found I was exhausted the next day.

Welcome btw xxx

Hi banders :)

It's Saturdayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!! :D

It's my baby girls birthday today she is 17!!! Where does the time fly to?

I have a surprise for her that she's not expecting so I'm really excited today.

I better pop out and pick it up so she sees it before she goes out.

Catcha later guys xxxxx

Coo since the op my body doesn't half let me know when I've not eaten well!!!
Was woken with a right ole gripey tummy in the night as a result of the junk food day I'd had....... so serves me right.

Hope everyone is doing well.
Have a great week everyone xxx

Hi All,

Thought i would come join you as im booked in to have my band on Wed 9th March  i am so excited but also feeling very worried about the op and the pain i will be in after.
I have never had any kind of op so the fear of that is also scaring me. Also i have 3 young boys and a lovely hubby whom im worried about incase anything did go wrong :(

Im sure everything will be ok but i just cant help but think the worst.

On the other hand i cant wait to have it done and begin my journey to a new slimmer/healthier me :D

Hi Leanne xxx Lots of us are mums in a similar position and we all had those worries xx You will be just fine hun, the surgeons know what they're doing and will have done hundreds on procedures before yours .
It's natural to be nervous as it's a huge step but think about how much better life will be for you and your family with that weight dropping off you.
Stick with us so we can give you help as and when you need it. We have a great mix of experienced banders, newly banded and pre-op people now on here and the forum as a whole, so hopefully whatever crops up for you - someone has some good pointers to help you x

Thank you so much, im sure i will be on here asking lots of questions. :D Its nice to have a range of mixed experienced banders. I have my consultation with Mr I Khan tomorrow, im sure i will come back with my head whizzing with info that i may not take all of it in.

Im doing this for me but also my boys i want to be able to run with them and not be out of puff.

I have looked into WLS for a while but when my 4 year old said 'mummy your fat' that did it i knew i had to do something about it.

I know what you mean, my son said something along those lines a few years ago.. it was the first time he said anything other than me just being mummy and remarked on my size sort of matter of fact like. But it does hit you hard I know.
I have no doubt that everyone will have trouble believing you ever had a weight problem soon.
Just keep reading the banders diaries and posts as you get a good feel for how things are going to be, both good and the more challenging aspects.
Luckily we all have found ways of coping with most band related issues, so there's some tried and tested ways of overcoming difficulties.
Just be organised I think and be prepared to follow the eating plan you're given, that restriction won't necessarily be immediate etc.
We all are different with slightly different advice given etc, some of us have fills at surgery , some of us have to wait til the six weeks post op to get the first one.
I think we'll have to just see what happens with you and deal with things as they come along.
Please try and relax a bit though, you have made a big decision but it's a good one xxx

Wow, I'm in shock! Just wanted to share.

Went to see the lovely Wendy today to see about getting a fill. We talked about why I thought I needed one etc, I noticed that Wendy had 3 plates on a table in the room with rubber 'food' on them. The plates were tiny! I asked Wendy if that was the amount I should be eating, apparantly YES!

OMG I eat the equivalent volume of the 3 example meals in one go! Sooooooo once I told Wendy that then yes I needed the fill. Dont get me wrong its mostly good stuff BUT still too much. My weight loss is obviously alot to do with the decrease in portion sizes from what I used to eat plus exercise but my band could of / should of done more to help. Thats if I had gone to the clinic more and not had almost a year out with my operations etc

Wendy - just to double check took all the fluid out again, no loss so all well, and topped me up to 8mils. She wants me to go back in 2 weeks (work permitting, if not will be a month) and may consider another small fill.

I know I am very close to a healthy weight but I'm not done yet. I talked about my goal weight which I would now like to change to 11 stone, so 1 1/2 stone below my original target of 12 1/2 ;)

So back to basics for me, hello proper restriction I hope :D

Hope everyone else is well x

Wow Maz glad all went well and sounds like your providers are great! Hope all settles well for you xx I'm feeling quite tight today, not quite sure why. Getting more and more compliments too which feels lovely. Oh well best be back to work. Welcome Leanne xx

It really is a revelation for me Rache! and yes Wendy is fantastic.

I could really see a difference in you too - sorry if I didnt mention it! rabbits / children / other halfs etc x x
