BANDERS UNITE ! Get to know each other chatter !

How about the tuna tip then Rache? A small tin of tuna in brine / water drained with some black pepper and vinegar or a measured spoon of salad cream is only going to be 140 cals (plus the cals for the salad cream if you use it) is really filling with the band and tasty and nothing else really goes with it..specially not sweet stuff...might be worth a try.
Also Rache, have you tried making slimfast the same way as me? If you have a jug blender, powdered slimfast and add tons of ice , blend it all together and it comes out thick and creamy like a macdonalds shake. It's nothing like as bad as the ready made plasticy bottled stuff in my opinion.

Rache have you tried the whey protein powders. I get mine from myprotein.com and you can get individual serving sachets so you can try the different flavours to see if they suit you. I know they are not to everyone's liking but I have mine with skimmed milk especially in the mornings when I have restriction and struggle with anything solid - or as a snack. Great source of protein and low in carbs and I am sure would work with Neen's shake recipe.

I have never tried slimfast but I got put off anything like that after being given fortimel by my provider for the post op liquid stage - yuk!

How about us strugglers do the week together this week then?
Say 1200-1400 cals a day, at least 30 minutes exercise a day and write on here honestly what we had to eat and what exercise we did. Then maybe Friday or Saturday morning all weigh in and see how we got on?
Who wants to join me?
I'm down!!! I'm only 7 weeks post op but I am already struggling. I haven't had a fill yet, will have my first one Tuesday. I fill let down... I don't feel like i'm getting the support that my surgeon's office ranted and raved about. I haven't seen him in 6 weeks. I think I should be seeing him every month... I don't know.

Before this last weigh in on Friday, I hadn't lost weight in 2 weeks. This weigh in I lost 5.6 pounds and it's because I "cheated." I exercised 2 hours a day, drank 4 liters of water, ate 800 calories a day and drank sugarless energy drinks before every work out. It's a life style that I can't keep up, but I just wanted the scale to finally move.

I can eat ANY AND EVERYTHING. I'm always hungry, never satisified, which causes me to snack more than I should. I'm kind of frustrated, but I keep hearing it will get better so I'm going to hold on to that.

I love accountability so I'd love to join this challenge.

Sorry such a long reply. :)

Hi - can I join in too. I was thinking that as I'm now 5 and a half weeks post-op I should start counting calories, especially as my appetite has come back with a vengeance! Might struggle with the exercise every day but I will give it a good go as I know I need to do this too. Here's to a good week.

Mine came back around week 4 - I suppose it depends on how long it takes everything to settle down from the swelling after the op. It's a shame the post-op lack of hunger doesn't last forever!

Neen I only get weighed at the hospital now but I am happy to log my food diary.

Lordy!!! You were doing a lot of exercise and not eating nearly enough for that week then.
Keep up the exercise and boost your calories so you aren't forcing your body into starvation and also you will feel so much better, be able to have enough calories to make good choices and lose some weight.
Don't be afraid to get more food in as it will help your metabolism fire up again.
You could probably have 2000 cals a day and still lose on the exercise amount you did daily!!!
I understand that might make you nervous though so aim for say an hour exercise a day and between 1400 - 1600 a day cals with plenty of protein, fruit / veg and a little low GI wholemeal carbs and see how you do for this week.
You won't stick at it if you punish yourself eitherx

I hope all who are on board for this have a great week! We can do it x

Hi Banders

Ive had a busy last few days of last week and weekend with it being half term so haven't been on much. Juts catching up on the thread.

Hope everyone has a good week, I wont be around much this week either because Im working away. Midlesborough tomorrow, then Leeds on Wednesday.

Take care all x

I think it's normal for your hunger to return after your op, the swelling has gone down and your ready for a fill, I had my first fill at 6 weeks and then my hunger returned with a vengence. I'm going for my next fill on the 10th.

I'm in for the diet

Breakfast: Coffee followed by fruit n fibre made with yoghurt
Mid morning coffee
Lunch (at a friends house)a glass of water followed by homemade soup with pitta, veg and dips. Also a cookie.
Mid afternoon 1 pt nas cordial, coffee
Dinner: salmon and prawns, roast veg and corn on the cob

Exercise: swimming

I haven't a clue how many calories I've consumed, at lunch I ate far more than I normally would. xx

My consumption so far:

Actimel
2 cups of coffee
1 Weetabix with about 200 ml skimmed milk and a teaspoon of splenda
Low fat chicken and barley soup - which was a very late lunch as I was out.

I will be having the remainder of a home made rabbit casserole with broccoli and cauliflower for my evening meal. If I need a snack it will be a muller light yoghurt.

I am trying to get down as much water as I can even though I am retaining a lot of fluid since I came off some of my blood pressure meds. As painful as this is I have got to force my kidneys to start working. I am not sure how many calories this all adds up to - probably a 1000 - more if I have the yoghurt.

Oh and as for exercise I will try and get on the cross trainer shortly. I am over the weight limit for it but I do not intend to do more than 5 minutes if I can manage that as it has not been used for years. I had a trip to the office today so did some walking earlier.

Hi Neen the meeting was awful. My boss cancelled the meeting by phone this morning. I had a meeting arranged with the Head of the Department that was to have happened first and then the meting with my boss. When I got to the meeting with the Head of the department my boss was there. She was not supposed to have even known it was happening. I got set up and I am so upset about it - I cannot even talk about it. Anyway I am going back next week and god help me.

Oh no TB thats terrible! that should not have happened at all, I really sympathise with you as my last boss was just like yours sounds. I hope you feel calmer soon and can talk about it x x

What a horrible thing to do TB! No wonder you dont want to go back....I hope its not going to be as bad as you are thinking it will be and you will be able to just do your job and ignore the pearly queen and whatever nasty cohorts she has! (HUG) XX

Today I've had:
2 Ryvita crunch with clover lighter-146
4 crackerbreads with Philly extra light and cucumber - 136
Fat free fromage frais with fresh blueberries - 51

So that's 753 cals so far, plus milk from 4 coffees throughout the day. Might have a yoghurt whilst watching The Biggest Loser!
