bypass daily menu -

OMG why would you do that to your brain? Is that just because you are on the soft stage?

Probably. I'm told only to have 200mls when I have food and I sip water the rest of the time. I can't eat/drink for 30-60 mins after I finish eating so there isn't enough hours in the day to get more calories.

413 Calories ! Are you serious ?! Wow is that not starvation?

I usually alter my diet depending on weight loss. I've put on weight consistently for the last few days so I go back to eating soups until my weight moves down again.

Crazy busy day, very little time for food and fluids :(

Breakfast - small kids size banana
Mid morning - a plum
Lunch - out with a work colleague ordered chilli ate majority of chilli left rice and all but three tortilla chips
Dinner one egg and one egg white scrambled with low fat cheese and lf low sugar ketchup

Might have a plum later ans need to get some fluids in me before bed!!

B - nothing.
L - soup. 106 calories
D - pasta with tomato sauce. 100 calories

Snack - Mash. 97 calories.

Total 303 calories. Have only just realised I consumed less calories today than I did yesterday so I'm going to grab a packet of crisps and a weight watchers brownie to get another 200 or so in for today.

Missed breakfast because I was feeling really horrible and dizzy this morning so I took a nap until lunch time.

Please tell me you are not really going to boost your intake by adding a packet of crisps and Brownie?

I know we are not meant to be judgemental but I am totally going to be...please what planet are you from ?! CRISPS AND A BROWNIE ?! That is one sure way to stay in bad eating habits for life isn't it?:rolleyes:

Well if you'd like to suggest something, I'd be happy to hear it. :)

I get pain with salads and fruit, not to mention the very little of solids I can comfortably cope with. Liquids go right through and don't really take away any hunger. My pouch seems to like mash though, I guess I could have another snack but not very nutritious.

Popadopolous please pick something that's going to offer u something more than calories! A soft boiled egg, a crispbread and lf Philly or pate, a small portion cereal . . .crisps and brownies do you no favours but reinforce the bad habits that got us all in the position of needing these ops!! Xx

Yoghurts, fromage frais, beans, breadless sandwich - a slice of ham and cheese, porridge?? . ..
My plan says no salad until three months plus which might be why u stuggle with that try steamed veg and try a variety xx

Our surgery is 2 days apart - My paperwork from the dietician says no crisps until 6 months and then, as you have, only low fat ones...I can't see why you would even have Brownies in your house at this stage?

Have you tryed things like protien shakes, Scrambled egg, Phili lite, Tuna mayo, home made soup (no fat in them!) Baked sweet potato with low fat beans and cheese, there are lots and lots of things you could be having that would give you so much more goodness and nutrition than crisps and Brownies?!

I feel annoyed as it just seems like your setting yourself up to fail if you are in the mindset of "Ohh Ok lets top up with crisps and cakes..." now only 8 weeks post op?!

Each to their own, nothing to do with me really. It's up to your own personal choice. Good luck with your bloods at 3 months though with that amount of nutrition I guess you will be lacking a few of the essential vitamin and minerals to function, no wonder you felt rough this morning - no body can physically function on 3/400 cal's a day!

It's true pops, we can feed our bods so little we should make it as nutritious as poss, I think u need to schedule in food properly too : plan your day, I didn't have my of an appetite at the same point as u Si set avtimer on my phone for meals and snacks, u will have more energy and feel better and fet into good habits x

With all due respect, if I want a packet of crisps or a brownie, I'll have one and I won't feel guilty about it. It's my money that paid for my bypass, not the NHS's. I don't think you're in a position to comment about my mindset when you don't really know anything about my circumstances, other than the suggestion of eating a packet of crisps to increase my calories for the day.

That being said, a scrambled egg does sound nice!

B: home made shake w/actimel 200mls 76cals
L: 60g hummus 129cals
Snack: 160g tub low fat custard 142cals
D: home made seafood soup 200mls 43cals

Total: 390cals

The only circumstances I need to know is that you are post Bariatric surgery... we all come on this site to try and help and support one and other, share our experiences and hope that it may make someone else's journey just a little tiny bit easier... and that sometimes means making comments or suggestions that the author of the thread does not agree with or like - however we are blessed in the Uk to have the freedom to speak so freely in a public domain and perhaps embracing it rather than fighting it, or feeling criticised and hurt, just some times we may well help each other.

But of course you are right, I - just hope you kept your receipt! (light hearted joke!) I too used my money - but that does not mean we should self sabotage without guilt...

Protein is more important than calories early on so we are told. It's good to get feedback on our food in case we are missing something or not helping ourselves. No matter how our op was paid for. We are all human with rearranged insides wanting weight loss :)

My menu today:

2 cream crackers with Phili light
Sardines tbsp steamed brown rice
Oven steamed chicken (a 1/4 of a skinless, boneless thigh), tsp stuffing, 4 pieces of sliced boiled carrot.
3 tbsps NAS angels delight

And going to have a highlights before bed.

Drinks have been:
NAS cordial
Instant tea, herbal tea, coffee (milk powder added to drinks for protein)

Finding eating much easier now than on purée. This week says I could eat toast. Well chewed etc. Tried a piece of wholemeal toast today. A few careful bites in was game over. So won't be trying that again for a while lol

I've not tried toast yet, don't think I fancy it lol xx

Lol. I didnt fancy it either really. But I had got up late and volunteer at stay and play. At snack time the parents have toast with the kids and one parent had made samosas and pakoras. The toast was the thing I was allowed lol

Bread seems difficult for us all.

Re crisps, in the early stages I ate so Lipitor calories that after about 4 weeks out I was having a small packet of cheesy wotsits a day. I know it's not a good thing but for the interim it gave me a treat, variety and taste. Now, that eating is better, I have a packet every few days, week do to speak as a treat. I have learnt the herd way that denying yourself total enjoyment, indulgence can have a bad outcome. Our bypass is a tool. And in my opinion a treat every few days is ok.
By the way I am nearly 7 months out and lost almost 11 stone.

I really do think the key is to develop a healthy relationship with food. Not an obsessive one. Treats now and again to keep the smile going. Gotta be a good thing :)

So true :) definitely the key. I always wanted to eat like a normal person and love the idea of the 80-20 rule. Be good 80% of the time and 20% or for little treats. X
