Had my 6 month follow up with dietician today Mixed feelings really. She said I was doing very well, ahead of their predictions with the weightloss. BUT she was not happy that I am counting calories, and weighing my food. She wants me to phase these things out. It wasn't my normal dietician, so dunno what to think. I do know I can't trust my instincts with food, I feel I need to have those boundaries, can't stand the thought of loosing control again. She also said that I need to watch my portion sizes, because my capacity is quite big. So pretty mixed messages too. I know I'm experiencing high anxiety about food at the moment,so she's going to ask my GP to refer me for cbt. I'm happy about that, as I've had no psychological support during t his process.

B: Glass of milk.
L: Dairylea dunker, 1/2 chicken breast.
D: Spaghetti bolognese.
P: Blackberries and light cream.

I was a the dietician recently and they she said they don't advise counting calories either, just keep portions small an monitor protein. I still have been as I think sometimes I could eat more than I do. I'm 5 months out. Can I ask how much you have Los post op?

B: myprotein shake with SS milk L: one poached smoked salmon fillet and three tablespoons of mixed bean salad S: one babybell light and one Melba toast D: went out to a Spanish tapas place and had one large paella... Was full after less than half of it but it was so yummy so I pushed it... Felt very nauseous afterwards and panicked that I may have stretched the pouch...? Also tried a few bites of flatbread... Thought it would be very thin, as I can't see, but it was quite thick. Feeling rather angry at myself now. No milk for me tonight. Any reassurance about my pouch would be massively appreciated. Thinking of doing a liquid day tomorrow to let my stomach settle... Do you think that's a good idea?

Since the beginning of my milk diet I've lost 7st 7lbs. Since my op I've lost 6st 5lbs. I've always felt that I'm a slow looser, but both dieticians insist I've dropped very quickly.

That sounds about rite most loose about a stone a month in the 1st 6 months. I was always told not to get back on the old game of counting calories. I am 2 years post op now and I still just have my meal on a small tea plate, protein n veg small amount of carbs I can eat more if I eat easy food first If I eat protein first i.e chicken or other meat then the amount I can eat after that is not great so it still works. I still try to have high protein diet when possible, our hosp. worked on 6 protein, 2 veg, 2 fruit and 2-3 carbs a day (portions) In the early days I did measure things but just until I knew what a portion was I think of 1 portion of veg as a dessert spoon heaped. 2 tangerines 1, banana 1, apple 1, bout 12 grapes 1, 7 strawberries, 1. 1 egg 1 portion protein my daily milk in tea n coffee 1 portion, 1 dairylea dunker would to me be 1 portion carb n 1 protein. Does that make sense? I still check the amount of fat and sugar when shopping. I try and stick to the 5g or less rule. Shape yoghurts are very low in fat but have bout 10g sugar in. I got weight watchers they have much lower. Just have to keep looking and be aware, you will get used to it. I used to write it all down for the 1st 6 months. Some bad habits have crept back in, however my weight is stable and the hospital have discharged me and really happy with what I have achieved. So plodding onwards but still worry at times. Best of luck and hope that is of some help n guidance to ya xxx:17729:;) that's me ha x:D

That's a fantastic loss. I've noticed from another post we're similar ages. I'm nearly 5 months out an lost 5st 10 since start of milk diet and 4.11 since op day. It is reassuring to find we are near abouts. I think I am slower an the last time I saw the dietician she said the same, she didn't really give me any advice though other than to eat more calcium but to substitute something else in my diet not add extra. She wasn't my normal dietician. I do prefer the other she is more informative and suggestive.

Thank you, this is a great help. My dietician did mention something about yogurts. I have normally just chosen fat free ones as I've followed slimming world for years but she said I should get diet ones because of the sugar. When you say you follow the 5g rule, sorry to sound thick but what is it?
