bypass daily menu -

There has been a study published that says eating too much protein lonh term is as bad as smoking! Im not sure of its validity, but its made me think.
I know the recommended is about 80g, because we need 25% more than the average adult. But I easily eat 120g if not more. I actually prefer the taste of protein rich foods to carby stuff.

I think there are a zillion studies out there that all say different things. Ultimately, as rewired as we are, we simply do no process all of our protein the same way others do. Also I always choose lean cuts as I prefer the tastes/texture of them.

yeah I heard that report but it also said people need to realise they can also get protein from fish and pulses really think was geared at red meats which we all know about. scaremongering again the press are good at that xx

I make my own humus from chick peas I add chillies and garlic tomatoes and peppers too great for crackers at lunch time and full of protein

Sounds lovely :D

Made a nice quick easy meal Friday night and it did the 2 of us for 2 meals or 3 normal portions or 4 with chips/garlic bread/ boiled potato's etc.

It's called Chicken and Broccoli Bake or Coronation Chicken can't remember which, I remembered it from 30 years ago on a Campbell soup tin haven't made it for 15 years I forgot about it till I spotted the soup in Tesco on Wednesday.

20 mins to prepare 20 mins to cook.

3 small cooked chicken breasts
Small head broccoli
1 tin Campbell's condensed mushroom soup
1 cup chopped onions
2 cups chopped mushrooms
Garlic to taste
1 heaped teaspoon mild curry powder
2 slices bread crumbed
Handful grated cheese
Salt pepper

1, Place cubed chicken in a casserole dish.
2, Part boil broccoli and cut into mouth size pieces and add to chicken.
3, Fry onions and mushrooms till soft add to chicken and broccoli and combine.
4, Tip soup into pint jug and make upto just under a pint add garlic and curry powder mix well salt and pepper to taste pour over chicken mix.
5. Mix bread crumb and cheese together and spread over the soup.

Put into hot oven on middle shelf covered for 15 mins and uncovered for 5 mins.

We had it on its own Friday night and with a few chips tonight. Very nice.

If you can't stand cheese just leave it off.

B: 1/2 Gammon steak and 2 poached eggs with ketchup.
S: 25g multigrain cereal with milk.
L: Spanish chicken and potatos with lightly roast veg.

Fab dress really summery, glad you had a great time :)

Hi Widdershins! I really struggle with the egg white for some reason, which is why I have 2 yolks rather than 1, it makes up the 50% protein I lose by chucking the whites away! I'm fine with the whites if I beat them for an omelette!

hi,

I just had to comment on this. I too really struggle with egg whites. No one believes the problems I have with them as its such an odd thing. I'm sorry you struggle too but I'm pleased to know I'm not the only the only one!! all the goodness, calories and protein are in the yolk so at least we can eat the good bits
