Gastric Bypass Daily Menus

*Very* well said, Y!

I wasn't have a go at you, I just wanted to highlight the fact that after WLS people can actually struggle with lack of knowledge.

I haven't had a meeting with any dieticians since having my surgery 3 and a half months ago. I've been taking advice from this forum and have become almost reliant on here for advice from others in the same situation.

I've been struggling to get the levels of proteins in and am trying to adjust that but its a daily struggle.

But it is not through eating crap, I haven't taken it personally but as I seem to be one of the people who fall under your "umbrella statement" then I felt the need to speak up cos if there's poeple on here struggling after surgery, we need advice...not labelling.

yesterday

B - muller-light yoghurt and half an apple

L - tuna and cannellini bean salad with a few walkers cheese and onion crisps

Tea - roast beef, carrots, brocolli and parsnips with gravy

snax - beetroot

I think it is poor that you have had no follow up with your nutrition and I think you really should chase it up as in the long term its your health that will suffer. I really researched my procedure beforehand and kind of knew what I needed to be eating and when, to avoid this happening to me.

I have just oredered a book called - eating well after weight loss surgery and it costs about £10 new but you could get a used copy cheaper. It hasn't arrived yet but was highly recommended.

I am still on pureed stage at the moment as I am only a week post surgery but if you need any help or ideas please feel free to pm me!!

I've actually got that very same book and need to have a proper look through, to be honest we eat really well at tea time and that's not really the problem, its mre brekkie and lunch.

I've e-mailed my consultants secretary about my next appointment, I mean I don't expect preferential treatment but I paid 10,000 for this op so i don't think i'm asking too much!!!

I did do my research but wasn't prepared for how difficult it would be to get the right amount of protein in and get enough liquids in without drinking 1/2 hr before and after meals. It didn't look a problem when I read about it pre-op but actually fitting it into daily life is a bit more difficult. I need to think of just 3 healthy and protein rich breakfasts and lunches so i can alternate them without getting bored, then i can introduce more x x x

I have 2 small children and I am doing my nursing degree and it will be a juggling act but organisation is the key.
Before my op my mum woulds say that I was the most disorganised person she had ever met....lol ( I didn't agree) and she worried that I wouldn't be able to comply to all the changes necessary to keep me healthy but I mentally prepared myself and I am super organised now and intend to keep it up.
Just take one step at a time!!!

i think i was organised, one day in about 1994 i think!!!!

here's to giving our best x x x

Omlettes make a good protein rich breakfast, if you have time to knock one up. Or scrambled egg/poached egg with cold meat/fish. Boiled egg with strips of ham to dunk instead of toast :) eggs is good.

I am snacking on far too much s**t, I need to stop it, but it is so easy to just snack on something that I know is not gona hurt me by getting stuck. I am still having a bad time with my eating at the moment and its putting me off proper healthy food. Does the hurting from eating ever go away or do we have it for life? Also what makes it blumin hurt anyways? Please advise ;)

Hi hun, sorry you are having a hard time. The most likely culprit to the hurting is eating too much in one bite/not enough chewing/eating too fast. You can experiment and see which one seems to make you uncomfortable. Too much in one bite, if a bite is larger than a pencil rubber you may find it hurts in your tummy. If you are not chewing enough (count out 30 chews per solid food), you could get that stuck feeling. If you are eating too fast, try setting your fork/spoon down between each bite, it will help slow down you food intake. Your tiny pouch may be getting overwhelmed by any of the above.

Also, it does get better. I can eat bigger bites faster and with a little less chewing than a few months ago. Hope that helps.

Nic:p

Hey Allie,

I don't get any pain with eating, aside from when I have chips. Which is now never :)

The main cause of pain is taking too much food into your mouth in one go, and not chewing enough. Bites the size of the rubber on top of a pencil and chew till liquid before swallowing. Wait a few seconds between mouthfuls.
